Gardner-Webb will now compete in a geographically viable league, with the Big South’s member schools located in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia – with several of those schools located two hours or less from the Boiling Springs, N.C., campus.

“The Big South Conference is a dynamic conference with the potential for strong regional rivalries and increased fan interest in a number of sports, and we are excited to begin our first year of full membership,” said Vice President for Athletics Chuck Burch. “We enjoyed our time in the Atlantic Sun Conference, and are thankful to that league for welcoming us with open arms during our formative years at the Division I level.
“Over the past six years, we have strived to achieve high marks athletically and academically – and to instill an attitude of success, character and honor among our student-athletes. We hope to continue those strides with our new family in the Big South Conference, and look forward to being a strong member on and off the court.”
