Bill FREAKING CURRY! Yea, he's old, but a great mind, and a really good football name to get things going in Atlanta. Hopefully the boobs at ETSU will take notice.
Although I think Bill Curry was a terrible coach at Kentucky - and probably Alabama - I think State is smart to get a name coach. Good for them. At least it will get people talking.
Exactly! First Lefty and now this.
That's what they have to do to get on the map.
They are playing their home games in the Georgia dome. Talk about cavernous.
at least they are playing
The thing about playing in the Georgia Dome is that while I'm sure a lot of it will be empty, it still adds a bit of class.
Going to a stadium means something more than going to a high school stadium. There is potential for growth.
I'm curious- anyone know what USF's first stadium was when they started up their team in 1997?
Wherever Tampa Bay played. I posted this on the KSU board, it's just crazy that they don't play at Morris Brown. It's small, close by, and a nice stadium.
As for Curry, he was a good coach at Alabama who was ran off because he wasn't Bear Bryant. Mike Shula turned David Garrard into a quality quarterback at Jacksonville. Bama fans ran off Curry, Ray Perkins, Gene Stallings, Dennis Franchione, and now Mike Shula, all of whom were winners at Bama. Shula's record wasn't great but he was up against bowl restrictions and scholarship losses. He did pretty good to get them where they went. Curry won the SEC Championship and got fired.
I think we'll see him get things going, then step aside for an up and coming coach, probably a mid major coordinator looking to be a head coach.
Remember the old joke: "Who's the only coach that can stop (KY QB) Tim Couch?
Answer: Bill Curry (KY Coach)
I don't know that he ever coached Couch. I think he got ran off for Hal Mumme by that time. At any rate, it's a great idea.
Heather Kozar did a pretty good job stopping Tim Couch.
Nope, Bill coached Couch. It was his undoing. He never let the guy throw. Incredible.
Still, I like him when he was at Bama. He never got a chance there. I hoped he'd do well at Kentucky, but he couldn't coach a great quarterback. Stuck to his running game.
I hope he does great at State.
Heather Kozar (born May 4, 1976, in Akron, Ohio) is an American model.
I had to look her up:
Kozar was Playboy's Playmate of the Month for January 1998, appeared on the cover of the June 1999 issue of the magazine, and was voted Playmate of the Year for 1999. She was also the St Pauli Girl for 2002.
She has also been a Barker's Beauty model for the popular daytime TV game show, The Price Is Right.
She is married to former Cleveland Browns quarterback and number one overall pick Tim Couch.
Quite the looker.
Ole Tim scored a touchdown with that one, even if he could not score much in the NFL.
not bad
Doesn't compare to Jane Mansfield, stilla hottie though. I wonder what ol' Couch is doing these days? Maybe him and Billy Jack Haskins could have a UK reunion at Ga. State with Curry?
