And it's not so much that the Wings proved you can win with a European captain, or that you know the Pens will be back (PLEASE RESIGN MALONE!), or that the series was just so entertaining and well played you can't be disapointed with the outcome even if you are a Pens fan.
No, it's that I was reading the Detroit Free Press and they spoke of the celebration.
Now, remember, when the Pistons won the NBA title, their fans celebrated by killing people.
But the Red Wings? Despite the overflow celebration onto the streets- with people piling into pickup trucks and the like- Detroit police report there have been NO ARRESTS!!!
I ask you to compare this with in 2000 when the Lakers beat Indiana and the riots outside the arena were such more than 10,000 fans, media, the Pacers, and even some of the Lakers players could not leave their arena.
We surely can expect more of the same after the Lakers sweep this heavily awaited series with the Celtics.
That the Lakers will sweep in four.

What is it like to be wrong so often?
R
Who's wrong?
Well you.. you predicted the Lakers would sweep the Celtics and since Boston won last night thats not going happen now is it??
R
Boston won last night?
Who knew?
Boston won last night?
Who knew?
How original
You're probably right.
EVERYBODY is asking "Who knew?"
You're probably right.
EVERYBODY is asking "Who knew?"
We'll see if thats true when the rating results are in
Game 1 of NBA Finals 10.4
Game 6 of NHL Finals 4.4
Looks like a whole hell of alot more people knew that Boston won last night then probably
know that Detriot won the Stanley Cup.
They are.
There were roughly 2-3 million viewers more than watched the Stanley Cup.
But that illustrates my point.
This was the series that supposedly was going to make everyone fall in love with the NBA again.
The fact that in order to do this, it would go against the way the NBA has been marketed for the past 25 years in that they'd be marketing the teams and not the stars shows you just how desperate the NBA is, but regardless.
THis is the sport we supposedly ALL PLAY- MEN AND WOMEN.
None of us have rinks in our houses, but we all have a basketball pole.
It's hip! It's alive! It's popular! It's mixed with hip-hop and Bling-Bling! It's progressive! It's got all the young people!
It's culturally repulsive, loses to hockey in popularity when head-to-head (witness the ratings in Detroit or the fact in Atlanta- ATLANTA!- the Thrashers outdraw the Hawks) and is totally stuffed down our throat.
The basketball ratings were only 25 percent higher than the sport nobody supposedly cares about- that we don't play growing up- that is just a bunch of people named Pavel and Pierre skating around sandwiched between two halftimes.
That's all the "Dream Matchup" Celtics/Lakers could muster. You'd have thought the way people talk on here or at ESPN the audience would be TRIPLE what the Stanley Cup was- instead it is just a fraction ahead.
One wonders if the Stanley Cup wasn't played last night what that would have done to the NBA's audience.
Only point I'm making is that basketball has for years acted like they were so much more popular than they were- not just in comparison to hockey- but also that they were comparable in popularity with, say, the NFL.
For the presumption that basketball displays, one would think that they would have at the very least WON THE 9 O'CLOCK TIME SLOT!
Instead, a rerun of CSI beat the NBA Finals from 9-9:30 in overall ratings.
It's all here folks-
http://tvbythenumbers.com/category/ratin...ow-ratings
And just to tie it back to ETSU, basketball is the sport that supposedly leads the athletic department (though I would argue it is golf- God help us!).
Do you now see the folly of a school that is always searching for an identity putting all of their eggs in that basket?
That was comparing a Game 1 to a Game 6.. lets wait and compare what the two series average after it is all over. But the game 1 still kicked the crap out of the Game 6.
Oh, Rod- "What's it like being wrong all the time?"
Kicking the crap out of the Stanley Cup would be doubling the hockey ratings.
Instead, the NBA barely beat them.
THIS WAS CELTICS-LAKERS! THIS WAS SIX DAYS OF BUILD-UP!
For all the hype, people should have tuned into the first game of the NBA Finals like it was 6 o'clock on Super Bowl Sunday.
Instead, they watched a rerun on CBS.
OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH NICE PREDICTION THERE PITT!!!!!!! OH CELTICS UP 2-0!!!!!!!! OHHHHHHHH HOW ABOUT THAT PENS PREDICTION!!!!!!!! OHHHHHHHHHH GOT ANYMORE FOR US?!?!?!??!?! I see Rod. And I'm sure you had the Giants beating the Patriots, too.
Of course, you can't rely on the excuse that I can that the sport is scripted.

Interesting. Remember when I said Detroit, which invented the sports riot in this country, didn't have a single arrest despite their fans partying in the street?
I looked up "Celtics Riot" on Google, and here it is, less than 12 hours after the victory-
Looting-
http://youbeenblinded.com/boston-celtics...r-victory/
And here we have a riot in the stands of the Staples Center-
http://sports.aol.com/fanhouse/2008/06/0...ltics-fan/
I thought it was supposed to be HOCKEY FANS that were the hooligans!
I thought Boston was this high brow city, while Detroit was mired in blue collar oafness. I thought people in Los Angeles were all happy and listening to the Beach Boys on the radio as the warm north wind blew in from Santa Ana.
Let's say it all together now-
Basketball is full of thugs, is fixed on the pro level, and should be done away with.
That is all.
No I am pretty sure the term hooligan is in reference to soccer fans.

:lauramac:
Actually there was a riot in Detriot after the Red Wings win but it wasn't because of the win.
Its from a joke site but I still found it really funny.
DETROIT – Rioting that broke out late Wednesday night in Detroit, moments after the Detroit Red Wings claimed the Stanly Cup by defeating the Pittsburgh Penguins 3-2 in the sixth game of the finals, was entirely unconnected to the city’s new hockey title.
Though the riots were first assumed to be a Stanley Cup celebration, interviews with rioters showed the uprising had nothing to do with hockey.
“Whooooooooo,” said one rioter moments before setting fire to a 1996 Chevy Cavalier. “Yeah, Detroit.”
While the raucous pack showed a clear loyalty to their city, none seemed to be aware of the Red Wings’ win earlier in the evening.
“I’ve never heard of them,” replied a man looting a hardware store when asked if he was stealing a rotary saw because the Red Wings won the Stanley Cup. “I needed a saw, though.”
The Detroit police riot squad had been on call in the event something bad happened Wednesday.
“We were not taking precautions because the Red Wings might have clinched the Cup,” said Detroit chief of police Ella Bully-Cummings. “This is just daily protocol
THAT'S THE BEST COMEBACK YOU COULD DO???????
That's almost as bad as you harping on that Lakers in four thing.
A guy who doesn't watch the NBA, and admits as such, parrots a prediction that just about every sportswriter in the country did for effect and you think this damages his credibility?
It makes me well read, and, considering the league is fixed anyway, even an accurate prediction is meaningless.
How many points did you have the Patriots winning by, incidently?
By the way- the point of my prediction was to illustrate how people wouldn't watch the NBA finals.
We heard they'd draw 15 million! We heard this was the series that would revive the league!
Instead, the peak series of the NBA barely beat out the NHL and Tiger v. Rocco. It did far more damage with the allegations of refs fixing games coming out, not to mention the shady endings of the games.
Reruns beat the NBA. The ratings were down from February prime time programing. Not exactly a return of the glory days of the Chicago Bulls!
And I love it!
Barely beat the NHL? what planet do you live on. Lol.. Game 1 vs Game 6 was a 10.4 vs 4.4. lets wait an hour or so and compare Game 6 to Game 6.
to compare apples to apples.
Game 1 of NBA Finals 10.4
Game 1 of NHL Finals 1.8
Yeah thats barely winning..
By the way- the point of my prediction was to illustrate how people wouldn't watch the NBA finals.
We heard they'd draw 15 million! We heard this was the series that would revive the league!
ABC is reporting 17.3 million watched last night’s game 5 of the NBA Finals. The Los Angeles Lakes won game five over the Boston Celtics forcing a game six tomorrow in Boston. The series, already averaging 14.5 million seems a lock for averaging 15 million after game 6.
The 2008 NHL Stanley Cup Finals featuring the Pittsburgh Penguins and Detroit Redwings averaged 4.48 million viewers
OHHHHHHHHHHHHH PITT ONLY READS THE HARRIS POLL!!!!!!!!!!!! OHHHHHHHHH HE ONLY READS THE RATINGS THAT HE WANTS TO HEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH THE NHL IS SCRIPTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH ORGASM!!!!
You're comparing a cable rating to a network!
Who's only reading the ratings you want to hear?
Incidentily, seems Tiger v. Rocco beat the NBA.
http://tvbythenumbers.com/2008/06/16/tv-...woods/4133
And while you're quoting The Onion, and not linking to where you are getting these dubious figures, I'm linking right to the first thing that comes up when you Google "Overnight TV Ratings."
Try again, Little Boy.
Its not the NBA's fault that no major Network wanted to be bothered covering all of the Stanley Cup games. Game 1 vs Game 1 if the NHL couldn't find a better network to air on than thats thier problem and is pretty telling actually.
I followed your link.. yeah people watched the very end of the golf match before turning over to catch the basketball game.
The evening’s viewership battle might would have been a lot closer had the golf tournament pushed more into prime-time in most of the country. However, with the 18-49 power of the NBA Finals ABC would likely have won the demo even if Tiger had been playing all night.
Fine I will go back and post every damn link. not a problem nothing dubious about those numbers.
By the way- the point of my prediction was to illustrate how people wouldn't watch the NBA finals.

Last nights results.
http://tvbythenumbers.com/2008/06/18/nie...inals/4173
And before Pitt starts crowing that the NBA lost to America's got talent, read this little section of the article.
Please note that especially for these NBA games, the time zone differences have made the preliminary reports practically worthless for the NBA finals, plus the last hour of the game isn’t included in these numbers
Final tally 17.3 million viewers.. Case closed Hockey loses by a mile.
R
Well, don't call yourself a Pittsburgh sports fan, Rod.
Us real fans don't take that kind of propaganda lightly.
Especially when you consider I've been tallying average viewers and you're comparing overall.
You know- just like when you compared cable numbers to network, or lying that the Pistons outdrew the Red Wings.
You also stated earlier that when I showed you how there were only 3 mil more viewers for the NBA Finals than the Stanley Cup "Well, let's see what happens when the Finals go further."
Okay, Game 6. Ought to be the most watched.
The drama building, the storyline building, all of that.
It actually went down from the previous game. Evidently, fixes to produce 39-point losses don't intrigue anyone but simpletons like you.
Hey, you want to be a Steelers fan, Rod, and I know you do because I know you want to be like me, you're going to have to learn a few things-
A- Hockey comes before basketball. That's the Pittsburgh mantra.
B- It's "pop," not "soda."
C- It's Yinz, not "y'all."
D- And the Steelers play on WDVE- the classic rock station- not WAMO- the gangsta rap station.
That will be all.
1. I am comparing Game to Game.. I can't help that hockey has to play on some scrub cable channel part of the time
2. Show me where I said Pistons did better then the Red Wings.. in context. This is just another one of your distaction tatics. Just post it stop accusing me of saying something. post the link as you say.
3. Game 6 went down.. in viewship it still drew 10+ million more then the hockey game 6 did.
The NBA finals averaged 15 million+ viewers.. Hockey averaged.. what around 4.5 million??
thats a hell of alot more then the 3 million you are trying to pawn off as the truth.
So let me get it straight. It's okay for you to compare "Game to Game," even when it is not a fair comparison, but if I compare network telecast to network telecast I'm disingenuous?
2. Somebody tried to say the Pistons did better than the Red Wings in the ratings. Are you saying it wasn't you?
That just proves my point then. It's not just contained with you- all basketball fans are idiots.
3. The NBA Finals DID NOT average 15 million! It barely got 10 in Game 1 and I think at it's peak- on a Sunday night- it barely broke 15 ONE TIME!
One thing I noticed is that they say the overnight ratings for live sporting events usually come in small and then are boosted by 3 mil.
Now, if that is the case, it would only stand to reason that the 7-8 mil that would watch the hockey games would be boosted to 10-11, right?
So really, hoops is getting, what, 3-4 mil more?
Is that really enough for basketball to claim significant superiority?
Bottom line is that basketball ratings are a fraction of what they were when Michael Jordan was playing and the NHL ratings DOUBLED!
So hockey is hot, basketball is not, and that's undeniable.
WHICH IS THE POINT I'VE BEEN MAKING ALL ALONG. I have never said hockey would outdraw basketball, nor did I believe it. There are too many Johnson City, Tennessees that have no taste whatsoever for that to happen.
But the times, they are a'changin'. Whether you want to believe it or not.
So who you gonna root for in the NFL from now on?
I never said anything about the Red Wings and Pistons, and I never said that the playoffs averaged 15 million. The site you keep refering to mentioned it. tv by the numbers see quote above for the link but here is is again.
BTW if 17.3 watched game 5 and 17.3 watched game 6 how did viewership go down as you said above?
Also the 4.48 was the average number for all 6 games not an overnight rating.
That is some fancy math how are you getting 4.48 million up to 7-8 million so that you can bump it again to 10-11 millions. Then you seem to be taking 2-3 million off the NBA numbers and even with all that adding and subtracting the NBA is still up by 3-4 million viewers over the NHL. Geez talk about fiddling with the numbers to get the results you want. I posted the stats from a source you seem to trust because you have used it yourself many times . Don't blame me that they don't show what you want to be true. But keep on fiddling with them till you get what you want.
Okay folks I think I am done here. Now whats going to happen is Pitts is going to come back with some rebuttal as soon as he figures out what spin he is going to use and find something I said he can twist around a bit, if he can't he will just build his own little strawman, attribute a bunch of stuff I didn't say to me (ala the Red Wings/Piston thing) attack that and tear it down. Standard Ops for him. Now normally this is what prolongs our discussion on the board,he tells some lie and I feel I have to defend myself or he make some statement so outragous I feel compelled to call him on it. But hey I got to thinking everybody knows Pitt and very few if any believe him anyway so I shouldn't really sweat it.
He is of the belief that he posts last and longest win the agrument. If you don't believe me look at this board, 51 messages NOTcounting this one and Pitt has the final post on 25 of them if he responds here that would be 26/52 half of them. However if any of you still care and I really don't anymore and I doubt anyone else does either all the facts and figures have been laid out and linked for your viewing pleasure. I am pretty sure 99% of you can figure it out the truth if you want.
R
The NBA finals averaged 15 million+ viewers..
You most certainly did say they averaged 15 mil!
But I'm the liar. Okay.
God, you are really living out your frustrations as a failed PI on me, aren't you?
Who you gonna root for in the NFL this season?
The NBA finals averaged 15 million+ viewers..

God, you are really living out your frustrations as a failed PI on me, aren't you?

See he draws me in a again by taking one little thing me out of context? Just like I said he would. yep same old Pitt. Now this is classic Pitt. take one really small part, remove it from all context. highlight, attack that, ignore rest of post. Pretty standard stuff, can't believe he hasnt' been able to develop anything new after all these years but I actually think he might be delusional to believe it works.
I didn't just make up a number I didn't just say the NBA drew 15+ million fans. . I didn't say the NBA drew 15 million fans. ABC did I used their numbers. If that numbers turns out not to be accurate it will not be a case of me telling a lie, it will be a case of ABC not reporting the correct numbers. I dont' have any reason to believe that is the case but I figured I would go ahead and cover it.
I took the information from an online source, I linked it. A source that you must think is a good one because it is the same one you have used. If you wish to call into question my numbers you are calling in to question your numbers as well. Well keep scrouring my post and see what else you find to try and twist.
Geez I tell people what he is going to do and he can't resist the urge and goes ahead and does it anyway, proving me right.
Thanks for proving my point Pitt, great example, couldn't have thought of a better or more petty one myself.
RZ
Now could you please give us another example? I know you can....
Rod- I know you're a failed PI.
Now you're a failed psychologist too.
And I really feel bad for you because if there is one gift I could give the world it would be for every man to have their own Suzanne Pleschette. Emily Hartley is DEFINITELY in every man's coffee table book!
You are the one who pulled out a throwaway line and tried to use it to take away my credibility from making the point that hockey ratings are up and hoops ratings are down.
Now, you're denying something you said that is open for everyone to read!
In post No. 31, you wrote- "The NBA finals averaged 15 million+ viewers"
WHen I pointed out that was inaccurate, in post No. 33 you wrote-
"I never said that the playoffs averaged 15 million."
YOU DID SO IN YOUR PREVIOUS POST!
Do I have to go on?
Now, every so often you get into this mode. You did back in the day when you tried to start threads that said "NOBODY RESPOND TO PITT!"
And everyone ignored you!
Why?
Because what I have to say comes from knowledge and intelligence. They know that I have a gift for bringing up legitimate criticisms and unique points on the world of sports that are often humorous and original.
And you are jealous of this because I am the New England born offspring of two PhDs (yet couldn't care less about the Celtics!) and you are a Bumfuk from east Tennessee and the product of inbreeding.
This gives you the advantage when playing the banjo, but little else.
So go ahead. Analyze my posts. Say that I pick and choose something insignificant while you call me out on basketball predictions, as if somehow that was significant.
I can play psychologist. You clearly there are transforming your own actions and trying to pin them on me.
Rod, a smarter man would understand that when I tweak your nose, like I did four paragraphs ago, it is akin to going to a Don Rickles show and being called a hockey puck.
You seem to get all offended and go on these pointless agendas! You don't even begin to realize that by defending ETSU administration against my barbs you are in effect supporting every lousy decision they've done.
The only thing I can figure out is that I must have touched a nerve somewhere. I think it's jealousy.
But if you want to be the board leader, you've got to be able to come up with topics better than "Ken Campbell, Proven Winner."
Oh- and hockey is up and basketball is down.
BASKETBALL UP.
http://www.usatoday.com/sports/basketbal...ings_N.htm
Despite a simmering back-burner scandal that momentarily disrupted the NBA's marquee event, the Boston Celtics-Los Angeles Lakers championship reunion ended with the sound of corks popping — outside the locker room, too.
ABC's ratings for the Finals were the highest in eight years, even with the distraction of former NBA referee Tim Donaghy's allegations of playoff game-fixing in prior postseasons by referees.
Game 6 on Tuesday, in which the Celtics clinched the title, blasting the Lakers 131-92, had a 10.7 rating, the highest since Game 6 of the 2000 Finals between the Lakers and Indiana Pacers drew 14.7.
Overall, the series drew 9.3% of U.S. households. That's up 51% over last year's Cleveland-San Antonio series, which was the lowest-rated Finals ever at 6.2.
The outcome pleased Celtic legend Larry Bird, who, like everyone else, waited 22 years to hoist another banner. "I'm happy for the Celtics and the city of Boston. I know what it means to win a championship as a Celtic and the place championships hold in the history of the franchise," said Bird, the Pacers' president.

Celtics fans will get to continue their celebration today at 11 a.m. ET with a "rolling rally" carrying the players, owners, staffers and former Celtics greats through the streets of Boston, ending at Copley Square.
"We're a city of champions," said Mayor Thomas Menino, referring to the five other championship parades held in Boston since 2002, three by the Patriots and two by the Red Sox. "We are 'Title Town.' "
Even league MVP Kobe Bryant, who left town a loser with the Lakers, had good things to say.
"I think a lot of people enjoyed it," Bryant said. "I got a chance to revisit a lot of classic confrontations. We lived those in the series, (along with) the 'Beat L.A.' chants and all that stuff. It was fun to be part of."
Dang I guess ABC was wrong it looks like the average turned out to be
14.95 million or so when all was said and done.
BTW thats not me saying that, that is what is being reported by Tv by the numbers. ABC rounded up and is still reporting 15 milliion.
http://tvbythenumbers.com/
ABC reports that 16.9 million viewers watched last night’s series-clinching victory where the Boston Celtics won their 17th championship in six games. It was the second most watched game of the series. ABC also reports that for the six games, the series averaged *exactly* 15 million viewers. Bill and I had a little bet around whether the series would generate 15 million average viewers or not. I took the under, Bill took the over.
The real number is more like 14.95 million, which is under 15 million. I won’t be quick to call this a “push” with Mr. Gorman. But I can wait a few days to take all the significant digits into account. From Bill and my point of view, it worked out well, but will ABC be disappointed?
http://sports.aol.com/fanhouse/2008/05/2...n-ratings/
I think this summons up the whole NHL hockey ratings hype pretty well.
The bottom line for them both: When your ratings are more or less completely in the toilet, it makes it that much easier to show a dramatic improvement, especially over the short term. I can't quibble with that conclusion, as I wrote much the same thing a couple of weeks back when the league started to tout its improving numbers on Versus. And as I wrote back on May 14, when Sponge Bob Square Pants is kicking your butt on a regular basis, you still have a long way to go.
So in review.
Right now the numbers being reported are saying (NOT what I am saying, just reporting the numbers)
NBA Finals Averaged 14.95 million veiwers over 6 games.
NHL Finals Averaged 4.48 Million viewers over 6 games.
Again so Pitt doesn't misunderstand. I didn't make those numbers up, I found them
from reliable online sources (and supplied the links to them all)
and just reported them here. If there is anymore tweaking done in the future
I have no control over that. These number are what is
being reported as of right now, when I made this post.
If they turn out to be wrong, blame ABC, not me.
R
And this source
http://tvbythenumbers.com/2008/06/05/nie...llion/4040
Shows hockey had 7 mil- and that's before the live TV boost of 3 mil.
So I'm less than enthused that your sources are credible.
Basketball is up from last year, when it was at an all-time low. Curiosity seekers wondering how it was fixed should show you as such, and I pointed out it would be.
It is a fraction of what it was in the 90s. Which is another point you missed.
Hockey, meanwhile, even by the most modest numbers that you gave, is up from last year.
So fight with me. Argue. Keep holding on to the cassette in this age of CDs and iPods.
It only shows you're not hip.
Yeah Hockey had 7 million viewers for that one game.. Game 6. The average for all 6 games was 4.48. NBA game six was 16.7. a heck of a lot more. You are talking one game I was giving you the series averages. Actually the one article said basketball was highest rating since 2000, that is a bit longer then just last year.
BTW how is it that my sources are less then credible when I am using the same site you are
Tv By the Numbers. So.. if my numbers are right how can yours, from the same source be right?
As for hockey being up, like the guy said, when your numbers are in the toliet it isn't that hard to improve on them.
you keep harping on how bad the NBA's ratings where last year.
Lets see
The Worst..primetime rating.. EVER for NBC
http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/playoffs20...id=2894490
Game 3 equals NBC's lowest rating ever for prime-time program
Associated Press
Updated: June 6, 2007, 6:54 PM ET
NEW YORK -- The Stanley Cup finals have brought record low ratings to NBC for a prime-time program, sports or otherwise.
Ottawa's 5-3 victory over Anaheim in Game 3 Saturday night received a 1.1 national rating and a 2 share, the network said Tuesday. That matched a rerun of "The West Wing" on July 23, 2005, which also drew a 1.1 rating.
Saturday's rating was down 31 percent from last year's Game 3 between Edmonton and Carolina, which had a 1.6/3.
The national ratings for Monday night's Game 4 declined less sharply from last year. The Ducks' 3-2 victory received a 1.9/3, down 5 percent from the 2.0/3 for Game 4 in 2006.
The rating is the percentage watching a telecast among all homes with televisions, and the share is the percentage tuned in to a broadcast among those households with televisions on at the time. A ratings point represents 1,114,000 households.
Again, you keep trying to change the arguement to points I had never made and using dubious methods.
For instance, I'm talking 2008 ratings. You go to 2007. I have continually said that the ratings were up from last year- that was my original point. Thank you for backing it up.
You continually combine cable to network on those averages- hardly an even comparison. Had I compared NBC to TNT, hockey would have found more viewers.
Again, the NBA gets a fraction of what it did in the 90s and the NHL doubled from last year. Which was the only point I ever tried to make.
And you'll never be able to refute it.
One wonders WHY you're trying to use inaccurate stats to boost the NBA. You claim to be a St. Louis and Pittsburgh sports fan- NHL towns with no pro basketball (which probably is why they are such great sports towns).
Traitorous behavior- THY NAME IS ROD SHAW!!!!!!
you are the one brought up the NBA Finals poor ratings. most recently in Post #42
I just pointed out while The NBA was bad last year the NHL was far far far worse.
you post
Basketball is up from last year, when it was at an all-time low. Curiosity seekers wondering how it was fixed should show you as such, and I pointed out it would be.
The NHL hasn't reached it high water mark tv Ratings of the 90's either.
Again I can't help where Stanely Cup played their games. I guess No major network was interested. That says alot about how much they think of hockey.
I can only say the NHL played Finals (according to the numbers releases by the rating services)
in front of an average viewership of 4.48 miilion and the NBA averaged 14.95 (again according to the rating services).
Sucks the NHL couldn't get a real network to cover all thier games but I guess the reruns brought in more money for the major networks.
When the NHL gets good enough to have all their games on network TV I guess we can compare them then.
Look, what's your game here, Rod?
Because you have yet to refute any of my main points, because they are undeniable.
Those two points are-
Hockey doubled its ratings from last year.
Basketball is down from the 90s.
YOu have had to spin stats, such as averaging Versus against ABC. If I had averaged NBC hockey ratings against NBA cable, hockey would appear to be MORE popular than the NBA.
With Nashville getting the seventh highest rating for the Stanley Cup (or do you have some spin to argue with me on THAT- too?), I would think the area might just go for hockey if persented something- ANYTHING other than high school basketball.
Hockey is growing in popularity. I am sorry you wish to stay in 1995, but it is. Even your dubious and manipulated TV stats show that.
So what's your point? That you claim to be a Steelers and Cardinals fan (there's a mix), but refuse to embrace even the first thing about embracing those cities' sports culture?
OHHHHHHHHHHHHH LOOKS LIKE ROD SHAW WON THIS ARGUMENT!!!!! OHHHHHHHHHH NICE JOB ROD SHAW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Duck- are you now at TriCitiesSports?
