Anderson likes look of conference.........
Associated Press
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Revamped Conference USA may have lost marquee schools like Louisville, Cincinnati, DePaul and Marquette, but UAB coach Mike Anderson feels its new lineup should not be taken lightly.
"I think the conference is going to be a lot better than most people think," Anderson said as the conference's spring meeting opened Monday in Destin, Fla.
In late 2003, shortly after C-USA lost five schools -- Cincinnati, DePaul, Louisville, Marquette and South Florida -- to the Big East, the conference added Central Florida, Marshall, Rice, SMU and Tulsa. Last year the University of Texas-El Paso joined. Those schools officially become part of C-USA on July 1, 2005.
"There's a transition; no question," Anderson said. But he said that he believes the new C-USA is "going to surprise people."
The conference schedule now consists of 14 games instead of 16. Anderson said non-conference games will also hold great importance for UAB in the upcoming season.
"I think you've got to get more of a national schedule," Anderson said. "Not only from the standpopint of just preparing yourself for the postseason and RPI. Kids want to play against good teams."
Current UAB schedule possibilities include home games against Oklahoma State, Virginia Commonwealth and Richmond, as well as a road game at Nebraska.
Anderson said other games are being considered for the schedule, which may not be completed until well into the summer.
In the meantime, Anderson is also busy searching for a replacement for assistant coach Scott Edgar, who took a position at Tennessee. Anderson said he hopes to fill the spot shortly after the league meetings, which end Thursday.
i bet he loves it, he lost any competition there was. if uab can't win the league title now then they don't deserve a tourney spot. cusa will more than likely only receiver 2 ncaa spots now that everyone but memphis is gone.
Lost, aren't you?
The Bama forum is thataway ...

You are the only one to make that statement. Perhaps it is because you are the only one to believe that. That is very understandable since your logic is a very sorry one.
You don't follow basketball much do you?????????? Bama12
12 what BTW would that be 12 players bought by a booster?
I'm hoping 12 is the sentence by the NCAA committee after UAT's next recruiting violations......12 years death penalty!

that would be the only way uab could get any good players to come there instead of to bama.
but really calm yourselves, you have to admit uab and memphis are the only good teams left. the others are not consistent winners at all.

Who's done better in Football AND Basketball in the last two years overall?

records are not always an indication of who is better.
bama went to the elite 8 in basketball, uab only got to the sweet 16, so there goes your idea on basketball. football, well let uab come to the sec and see how good they can do, you guys should try and beat southern miss before you talk smack.

U R one stupid summa-ma-biatch! UAB went to the Elite 8 in March 1982. Four years after we started basketball at UAB. How long did it take Bama to get the Elite 8? Something like 100 years?
Records aren't always a indicator of who is better. Bama didn't even get out of the 1st round of the Dance in March this year while UAB made it the 2nd round and beat LSU in the process.
Don't come here talking $hit about our program. As long as you're on a UAB board, we can talk smack about whoever we want to talk smack about. IF you don't like U can move on.
Go UAB!

well if you had read the post i was replying to you would have seen that he said the past 2 years. so i referred to that bama had gone further in the tournament in the past 2 years.

OK past two years: Bama Elite 8 and one and out. UAB Sweet 16 and 2 and out. Record in the Dance the last two years Bama 3-2 and UAB is 3-2.
What's the difference?
Go UAB!

So how's that Utah State thing working out?
As far as USM goes, their time is coming. What I'd like most, however, to feed that crowd down I59 a great big ole drippin' piece of humble pie, not unlike the the baskeball team did in 1993.
Hell, I'll go you one further. I'd support going down to that cesspool on the Black Warrior that you call Tuscaloosa and puttin' one on you in Bear's house.
Since he said, UAB'd field a football team over his dead body, and that's pretty much what it took, could we then officially declare him dead?
By the way, we'd finish no lower than 3rd in the SEC West this year.

thats the funniest post i have seen in here yet, but since you want to talk smack i'll go with it. uab barely finishes over .500 in cusa, they would be a continual cellar dweller in the sec west. beating miss st on their worst season ever is not very impressive. uab could compete with alabama for a quarter or maybe even two if they play their best, but uab cannot compete with alabama for a whole game, bama has too much talent for them to let uab hang around. why wouldn't the game be at bryant-denny? legion field is falling apart and only seats 72000 now and bryant denny will be holding 93000 as of the 06 season so their is no comparison.

maybe you guys should make some noise in conference usa and then maybe mal and the athletic department will consider playing you. i would like to see a game so you little guys would shut up your whining, but i don't care enough to contact mal moore about it, we already beat the best cusa team southern miss every year, so why should we play a cusa team who can't even beat them?

I don't know.
Why should you schedule such perennial juggernauts as Utah State and UT-Chattanooga?
Season ticket holders gotta love that.
I can speculate about what my team would or wouldn't do to yours because me team has the cajones to play yours.
Make noise in CUSA?
Over the last 3 years, our record in CUSA is better than yours in the hallowed SEC.

utc? bama has only played them twice since 1959, so i don't know where that came from. utah state at least has won their conference a few times. not that i'm defending playing weak teams like that, but its just fun to prove you don't know anything. second of all, the actual players have nothing to do with who they play, the bama players would not give a second thought about playing uab, it would just be another mid level out of conference game.
since when is a cusa record even comparable to an sec record? there is no comparison, you didn't even play louisville, and can't beat southern miss.
Don't play cupcakes from other timezones and then talk smack on this board.
Do I have to give you Mal's # again?
do something in your weak conference before you try to talk smack to a team who will dominate you.

Oh, yeah.
Here's the part where you tell me how good Bama
used to be.
Finish above .500 in your conference.
how about this, beat southern miss.
uab and alabama play them every year, bama dominates them and uab has never beat them.

I acknowledge our USM jinx, kinda like St. Paul's hang up with Notre Dame.
If you want to see how ridiculous the "other teams we played" argument can get, try this.
UAB is undefeated against LSU.
Bama, not so much.
What conference has Utah State won as a D-I school? Please tell us.
Whith the tallent UAB has right now, they could compete in the WEAK SEC West. If UAB were in the SEC, they would get even better recruits and have an atheletic budget 5 to 6 times what it has now. Imagine what UAB could do with that kind of cash, It won't be buying players and having current players have jobs making 25-30 dollars an hour for doing nothing which is what is going on right now with basketball and football players.
Guys he won't contact Mal because he hopes to God the Criminal Turds never have to play UAB.
Oh, bamahas12, explain why the Turds have given Tulane a home game?
Your arguments hold no water here Turd fan.........

so you are the administrator here? ha you are a bigger idiot than your buddies. so since the sec west is so weak how come they have had a national champion and a runner-up the last 2 years? that doesn't sound very weak to me, but i forget that you guys play in the almighty cusa where the best team gets dominated even when the sec team runs the ball all but 3 plays the whole game.
i don't go whining to ad's when they won't play my team like you little kids do. i hope alabama never plays uab and you idiots die from all of the pent up jealousy and anger you have for alabama. as for bama playing tulane, i can't find that on either this year's or next year's schedule so i don't know what you are talking about there. but its normal for you guys to post crap without having any facts to back it up. but if bama does play tulane, i doubt bama wouldn give up 59 points to them.
Who is worth a damn outside of Auburn in the West?
Sure not the Turds with that fragile QB Brodie who would be lucky to be thrid team at UAB.
The Turds signed a three for one with Tulane and also has scheduled Hawaii for Tuscalooser.
BTW watch who you call idiot if you like posting here.......... :D

Granted.
We also hung 95 points combined on the two of them.
Did Shula Ball score 95 all year?
Jealous? Maybe.
But maybe some folks down I59 need to lose the "don't take a slice of my pie" mentality.

That's right. And if Brodie hadn't been hurt, we'd have captured Osama Bin Laden and balanced the budget.
