ECU fans pushing hard for Big East.......

How long till this thread reaches "Melt Down"?
hate to say it...but it seems like a no-brainer for the BE to take ECU/UCF/Memphis.

It may never happen, but if Football continues to be King...those schools are ideal for the taking.

Just my 2 cents. I love CUSA, but that's the nature of the BCS beast.

I disagree, I think only ECU and UCF would be a good fit for the Big East. Memphis is too far to the west bordering Arkansas and no offense to Memphis fans but they would only bring a top notch baskeball program and an average football program. UCF brings Florida recruiting, very large university, good football program, new facilities. ECU also brings a good football program, nice geographic area, good stadium and attendance. So if the Big East came calling, it would be one of these two teams, but that is a big if.

So it looks like Hummell wants to meet the piratetwins.
Good for ECU. A BCS paycheck is very nice
ECU? Are you kidding? Why would they take a school that cannot win the conference they are in presently? Has ECU ever won a conference championship in anything?

Isn't that the goal of every non-BCS team?

I love c-usa just the way it is too. The only reason I would like UCF to the BE is because of its BCS tag, and the chance of being in a national championship game. I don't even like half of the schools in the BE and their far locations. I would rather be in the same conference of USM, memphis, utep, tulsa, marshall and Houston than UCONN, PITT,Rutgers and Syracuse. I just wish the whole BCS fraud goes away and we could have a strong conference without any fears of realignment.

I think it is the goal of every team in the country - BcS or non-BcS......

If that happened then there would still be conference realignments; because at that point I am pretty sure that UCF would want to be in the same conference as their main rival USF. Marshall would want to be in the same conference as WVU; Memphis would want to be with Louisville and Cincy; ECU would want to be with N.C. State; UTEP would be with UNM; and TCU would want to be back with the CUSA Texas School.

I've been trying to organize and effort for banks to just to give me money.

they've got these things now called jet areoplanes and you can be from Memphis (smack in the middle of the country) to anywhere else in the contentintal USofA in 5 hours, so geography isnt that big a deal. what is a big deal is memphis delivers a already strong sports identity, a pretty good bowl game and a growing lil' company called FedEx. toss in a new geographic toehold for big east media, a established strong fanbase and there is value there, even if our football team cant beat anyone but UTEP it seems.

I have no doubt that Memphis, UCF and any other C-USA team is/would organize their efforts at any BCS spot available.

Unfortunately this is the situation we have all been forced into by the "BCS System".

The problem is the fans do not have a vote. Second thing, it is embarrassing to beg to fans on a message board. Third thing, we should be organizing our efforts in bringing down the BCS. The C-USA could be on par with the Big East without those letters, but that is just my opinion.

For the record...I think Memphis would get a serious look by the Big East in 2013. Look at all the factors that the Big East has gone after in recent expansion...

#1 Media market
#2 Hoops
#3 Athletic Budget
#4 Possible growth

There. I fixed it for ya.

First of all, the fans (or lack there of) will have influence, but maybe not a vote.

As to your second point. Those comments were made on an ECU specific board. The people posting there are mainly Pirate Club members trying to do whatever they can to better ECU athletics. They didn't come over here trying to stir something up. Instead, some tool looking for a message board smack down went searching for material and brought it here.

Benji only says that because he knows damn well his school will be stuck in a new Eastern WAC if the NBE raids again.

IMO, I think the NBE will come calling in a few years. Having ECU, UCF and/or Memphis dominating CUSA football might speed up the process of NBE raid.

I hope the NBE expands soon, only because I believe it will once again prompt the MWC to expand and add Fresno St and/or Boise St. They are waiting in the wings.

Yes, but apparently some CUSA fans think the MWC is "delusional" for aiming for such an outrages goal.

CUSA should be aiming for similar goals and not settle by being treated like a "mid-major".

This "tool" went to the ECU board to read what Pirate fans were sayig about their baseball situaion. I saw this thread and yes I brought it here. I wanted posters here to see the level of begging ECU fans have been reduced to. I make no apologies for doing that. The issue was recently brougtht to this board by an ECU fan. I wanted posters here to get a feel how strong an issue this is with ECU fans. This "tool" seems to have accomplished that. Oh yea, this "tool" would not be acting like a "tool" if I failed to mention 25-8.

You started the smack talk when you started the name calling. I brought it here like I said, for posters here to understand the depth of importance ECU fans are feeling about this issue. I made no editorial comment when I posted it. I was satisfied to let others make of it what they wished. Of course, I am just a "tool" so what do I know?

Boo hoo, you are so innocent. My bad.

Other than doing what they should have been doing (buying tix and making donations when possible) I don't see how they'll have that much.

There are fans, and then there are boosters. One group is taken more seriously because they can afford to--THAT's who's going to make the difference.

Backer, you tool you. Shame, shame, shame. Off with your head....

LOL!! Well Live, I am just a tool, but here is how I see it....

USM position.....less fans....25 football wins

ECU position.....more fans....8 football wins.

I realize us tools aren't too smart, but I think between those two positions, I will take USM's.

Wow ECU, that's a lot of bending over the table, even for you.
The Big East will never take any of those teams. This stuff is mental illness. They have said over and over they are not expanding.
I suppose Fresno St would like to be in the Pac 10 as well.

I really do not want to stand up for South Florida, but I'll do it this once. They are in a top 20 media market, good recruiting location, good travel designation, bowls in the area, pretty large athletic budget, and they already played in the C-USA.

And we made more money off of one loss to you - than you did in the total 25 wins against us 03-lmfao

I aint no rocket scientist - but I'll take a losing record to 1 team over having 1/5 of our current fan base. 03-nutkick

1/5....Isn't that stretching it a little bit....so you have 150,000 fans in attendance per game?......hmmmmmm

Wow, another not so subtle hint of what USF routinely does to UCF. Who knew.

Actually this is the reason that USF was chosen for the BE over UCF. USF was chosen over ECU, because of recruiting grounds in Florida. CUSA replaced USF with UCF to regain the recruiting grounds.

Actually...it was USF's Basketball and their facility that made USF a better pick to join the Big East back in Nov 2003 than UCF.

1) USF had been playing in a much higher quality basketball conf (CUSA) vs what UCF was in at that time (lowly ASUN, formerly the TAAC).

2) USF already had a "Big East" Quality on-campus Basketball Facility, with their 10,000 seat plus Sun Dome, which opened on their campus back in 1980.

UCF was in a small 4,500 seat "barn" (no need to have a large arena while being in lowly conferences like the TAAC/ASUN).

That made it easy for Big East to pick USF over UCF.

Of course...since those invites were given out in Nov 2003....UCF has spent over $350 Million on projects in their new "Athletic Village"...which of course includes:

New 45,300 seat on-campus stadium...expandable to 65,000

New 10,000 seat state-of-the-art Basketball Facility...finest on-campus arena in all of FLA/GA.

UCF (facility wise) is ready today...but they weren't ready back in Nov 2003 when the Big East made their selections.

Would USF wat to be in the same conference with UCF?? Doesn't WV hate UCF?

Who cares what USF wants? What are they going to do?

Well he is no rocket man, which I take in North Carolina means the same thing as I am dumb as dirt.

One has to wonder, if ECU is willing to bend over, lube and spread for the Big East like they are, what are they paying those teams on their OOC schedule?

Ecu could end up like Temple too, There for years and in the end kick out. At least Temple had a bb tradition to offer with full membership, ECU will be so far behind in other sports that it would definitely hurt if ever a full membership comes open. My question I'm let with is, Who in their right mind is going to pay to have ECU basketball in their league? I mean you have to offer something good in return for a downgrade in leagues. You must be good at basketball because it pays better than any other sports beside football.

Well lets see.......

1) They could vote AGANIST UCiF's membership.
2) They could vote FOR UCiF's membership.

The BE wanted a "Florida presence" and with USF they have a Florida presence. Done

Sure, go ahead. Who would you replace us with?

I have said it before, if ECU or Memphis leaves for the Big East then I demand that our new member be in the East and no farther south than NC or TN. The only teams that could even be considered with those restrictions would be Ohio, MTSU, Charlotte (If they get football started), and WKU. I do not want to see another Texas or Florida school like TCU, North Texas, FIU, or FAU. I like Troy and think that they should be considered to replace Memphis but not ECU.

The only other solution is to give Marshall a bigger slice of the 12 piece pie in order to help with travel costs to going to Texas or Louisiana several times a year in all sports.
