I was sitting on the lifeguard, watching people swim, when I heard the distant sound of an annoying elephant call coming from the running track.

Concerned, I headed to the track and spotted some fool wearing a red Bama shirt and red Bama gym shorts.

His membership to the Rec Center should be revoked and he should be academically suspended for a semester.

What a 'tard. Typical Bammer.
There goes freedom of expression.

Sometimes you have to let a rube be a rube.

But let me make sure I've gotten this straight. If he'd been wearing sequins and waving a brightly covered flag, he'd have been okay?

I had no idea it was all so sinister.

Here's the thing. If the first amendment means what I've been taught it means, then one right we do not have is the right not to be offended.
This is how the PC crowd tries to stifle free speech. "Say whatever you want, so long as I agree."

I don't really think that had anything to do with my joke :(

Well, if everyone has the right to not be offended, society would progress nowhere and we would cease to exist in the mire of non-progress.
welcome to current-day america

Yeah.

Current Day America = Nobody has the right to not be offended.
Was he wearing an elephant head while running? If so, I've probably seen the guy...j/k I know it's not the same guy, but I have seen a guy wearing an elephant head while running a very hot and humid 5k (3.11 miles) race. :loco: That's been a while...cuz I was a fan of that party school when I saw it...and I thought he was crazy then. This same guy bought a green mustang and tried to have it painted crimson but it turned out maroon.

Read the thread.
About 10 years ago, I wore a UAB sweatshirt and a buddy of mine wore an Auburn sweatshirt to Dreamland in Tuscaloosa. We also went to the UAT campus bookstore before eating.

Ah, yes. Memories.

I attended a wedding in the Gorgas House on UAT's campus wearing a green and gold striped tie. I turned to Mrs. Smaug and quoted the senior Dr. Jones from The Last Crusade.

"We are pilgrims in an unholy land."
sounds like a perfect situation to use a straw and paper spit balls. It'd be like the fair, you know hitting the clowns!
i don't get it, wearing a uab shirt or uab colors in tuscaloosa or on alabama's campus does not even cause anyone to think twice.

if you were wearing auburn or tennessee colors then you might have some problems, but uab causes no concern to anyone.

You are right Bamahasnotaclue, no student, as in college student who is going to graduate from alabama cares. They are educated, it is the other 95% of Bammer fans that we speak of.........

i must be in the 5% who wouldn't care along with every other bama fan i know, about half of the people i tailgate with at alabama games are uab grads, so i know they wouldn't care.

I'm calling BS on that one - like most of your statements.

I defend your being here, but stop this mess of acting as if there is not even an element within the UAT machine that would not LOVE IT if UAB athletics ceased to exist all together. This is not a small group of people that feel this way. While you may not hang around with people that fit that category, it doesn't mean they don't exist. As for your comments about bammers not caring about UAB hats/shirts, as I have said before, you are wrong.

The fact is there is a contingency of bammers who would love to shut down UAB athletics. Guess what, with the slide of the tide it hasn't gotten any better. If you party with UAB traitors who go and pull for bama, fine but they are not necessarily the norm.

well you guys have opened my eyes to this stuff about bama people wanting uab athletics shut down. i had never heard of it before coming in here, i don't know how true it is yet. but i don't see any reason as to why they would want it shut down. i guess i am just young and too easy going to understand all of the politic crap that goes on.
Or just brainwashed by the "machine" not to see it. That's more likely.
Quote: Or just brainwashed by the "machine" not to see it. That's more likely.

or just never heard about it because i don't hang around with whiners such as yourself.
Yeah, I'm sure that's it.

Why don't you leave this board then if you're always right and UAB fans with different opinions are merely "whining"?

Or, do you like instigating things and getting people even more pissed off at you and your high-and-mighty, holier-than-thou attitude UAT buddies?
lj, you are the only whiner i see here.

most of the other guys on here are pretty cool and can actually carry on a civil conversation unlike yourself.
Yeah, saying things like "most UAB fans are foaming at the mouth to play Alabama" and "everyone knows Croyle is a top 10 QB" are very civil.

And, before you lie, neither of those was in direct response to anything I said.
Quote:"everyone knows Croyle is a top 10 QB"

yea you've got me there, that was an attack on anything and everything uab stands for. :roflmao:
No, that was a typical ridiculous statement from a UAT fan who thinks that everything in Tuscaloosa is gold and everything in Birmingham, or anywhere else basically, is manure.
BamaHas12 Wrote:i must be in the 5% who wouldn't care along with every other bama fan i know
I said graduated from UAT, that doesn't include you

Make up your mind.

You bash ATTALLA in another thread, and you ask zlc is he's going to "personally attack" you again...

Don't try to say I'm the only one who offends you and your high-and-mighty UAT attitude.

the ua bot trying to shut our programs down et al.
Quote: the ua bot trying to shut our programs down et al.

the only thing i ever remember hearing was a few years ago they were thinking about shutting down the football program if it didn't start making some money, and instead they are giving it 5 years and re-evaluating it to see if its doing any better.

Do you realize that even announcing that in public gave the schools who were recruiting the players we were recruiting, a competitive edge. All this at the same time that Alabama was on probation and had reduced scholarships.

Their excuse? We weren't making a profit. Most D1 schools lose money in football. Why are we held to a different standard.
the sad thing is that the bot could solve uab's money problem by forcing uat to play uab. that would make sense. use one school to help the other school in the system. it wont happen though w/ idiots like bear jr on the board though.
Quote:Their excuse? We weren't making a profit. Most D1 schools lose money in football. Why are we held to a different standard.

well because you are the only football program in their system losing money. we all know that the alabama system is already underfunded, the last thing they need is to lose money in any area.
Quote:the last thing they need is to lose money in any area.

Then let's see UAT shut down their olympic sports teams that lose money at Tuscalooser. Let's see them shut down the UAH atheletics program that's in the red.

We know why they wantet to kill the football program that BTW has finished in the black for two straight years.

That's exactly where I saw him. The YMCA 2003 Watermelon Run....I consider that my hometown run. It's the only run in Franklin County, I'm a member at that YMCA, I used to work at the hospital (I think they did some sponsorship of the race), and I used to do some of my training on the Russellville track (for those who don't know....is where the race finishes).

BamaHas12,

If I'm not mistaken, UAB athletics is in the hole about 6-7 mil, but has been in the black the past 2 years and is filling in their hole each year.

If Bama came to Birmingham JUST ONCE and UAB was able to collect the ticket sales to a sold out Legion Field, think of the gigantic dent that would put in UAB's deficit.

As of now, UAB has to play road games for the big-dollar pay-outs from other SEC schools to trim our debt.

My pride never wants me to play Bama because it will look like UAB's getting a hand-out from big brother.

My head says take the money and don't look back; getting out of debt is the most important thing for the program.

My heart says JUST PLAY THE GAME and save the drama for your mama (and Paul Finescum).

I say ban Bamahas12 not BlazerSux. 03-nutkick

I hope the Bamers don't try to take it over. There are already 2 posting here. 05-nono
