The release of Dayton's football schedule confirms the Gridiron Classic (between the winners of the Pioneer and the Northeast Conference) will be Saturday, December 6th at the NEC winner's site.
If the Camels turn-out to be great and win the PFL in their first year, I doubt we'd get an at-large bid to the FCS playoffs with those sub D-1 schools in the non-conference schedule. This game will be the pinnacle of a great year for CU (or any other PFL school).
Without an automatic bid from the conference the chances of the PFL ever getting an at-large bid is pretty remote. That will be the Campbell playoff game in a few years when they are good enough to qualify, but it certainly will not be for at least 4-5 years, if then. Correct me if I'm wrong but no PFL team has ever gotten an at-large bid into the playoffs not even Dayton last year, who went 11-1. I don't mean to rain on your parade but I also think you need to be somewhat of a realist for expectations and goals for next year and beyond.
Sometimes, it's the players expectations of themselves that count the most. Dayton was a last place team in 2006.

Welcome 7778. Oh, I'm a realist (to be read like Cosmo Kramer would say that)! While technically it is possible for Campbell to win the PFL and go to the GC, it probably isn't likely. Just wanted to point-out the most we could hope for.
I have no idea how good or bad Campbell will be, but they'll certainly be young. I'm thinking 3-8 in its first year will be a pretty good accomplishment.

basically spells the end of the Gridiron Challenge and means the NEC (the other non-scholarship league) is basically leaving the Pioneer League behind just when Campbell probably starts being good enough to compete for it.
Another bit of information to pass along.
Sponsoring football is on the agenda for the June A-Sun meeting. Hopefully, they'll get football rolling in time to replace the NEC in the 2010 Gridiron Classic.
Or maybe there will be a PFL Championship Game between Division winners in a few years.
