ok, let's talk about how once again the braves have no bullpen.
I was thinking about this today, I think having a good bullpen is the most important aspect of building a good baseball team and there are so many otherwise solid teams that have weak bullpens. Teams make the mistake of throwing big money at a closer but ignoring everyone else. I would guarantee that you would be better off ignoring the closer roll and getting a bunch of awesome middle relief guys and not even ******* worry about a closer. Getting outs in the 7-9th innings is what wins baseball games not just the 9th.

i pretty much agree 100%. i do think there are special circumstances, but for the most part its true. look at the tigers; does anyone really think they have a legitimate shot at a title with a bullpen like that? The weird thing is, the giants are possibly the worst team in baseball, yet have one of the better bullpens. Tell me the tigers wouldn't love to get tyler walker or jack taschner.
Getting back to what you were saying, look at the yankees. they have the 8th and 9th locked down, but if their starter only goes 5, they have to use bruney, hawkins and i forget the name of the other stiff, in order to get through the 6th and 7th.
Yep, and those great Yankee teams from the late 90s and early 2000s had great bullpens. Coincidence? I dont think so...

i think not as well. you can't go from having mike stanton and jeff nelson to latroy hawkins the ultimate choke artist.
the funny thing about the yankees situation, is that relief pitching is probably the only spot on a team that can't be at least partially solved by throwing money at it. You have to develop or trade for, your own relief pitching. I'll use the giants as an example again because i know them so well. Their pen is pretty much all home grown.
amazing. two awful teams are leading the east and central. i mean, those two teams are terrible.

NOTE: Braves at Turner Field. They managed to make a game of it for almost 6 innings, then blew the doors off just in time. I was fixing to ask the wife if she was ready to go when Texiera nailed that HR... Great day for baseball. Braves are now 1-3 with me in Turner Field. I was hoping that I wasn’t a total jinx. I will hopefully be going back around July to see them face the Astros.. more soon!
my my my, I do believe that the CUBS are in 1st place in the NL Central, AND have a better record than all NL East teams. And tonight's 7-1 waxing of the NY Mets helps that out. Call it what you want, but the Northsiders are definitely playing great ball right now.
