on their board are loving our loss. They also think it will be a long time before we are back to the big show. I really think that most of their posters are jerk-offs. It is amazing to me we can crush them sooo bad in basketball and they still think they are competitive.
They have more posts about us than their own program-----if you are looking for someone to despise today--look no farther than those bunch of doofs.
one would think that the UAB fans would want us to win to validate CUSA. then again, theyre a bunch of toothless idiots.
I just couldn't care less what they think about us today.
I haven't been over on their board but we just did something that they as a program will likely never do. We just did something that 90% of all division 1 programs will likely never do....play in the national championship game.
I'm not worried about the UAB fans, personally. If they get their kicks by us losing, then so be it. At least we were there.
They're not even worth thinking about. When I think of our competition in basketball, I now think of Texas, UCLA, and Kansas. UAB is literally nothing to me.
They had some classy posts in the only thread I read over there. I am sure there are others that aren't, but who really cares? I am still so proud to be a Tiger today.
Anyone who tries to take apart this team and their accomplishments is pathetic and will never understand what we have gone through and more importantly what we have achieved. I have never been more proud to be a Tiger, while it hurts, it is wonderful to see an entire city stand together. To have something (a team) that is worth crying for will be beyond the grasp and hopes of so many, but we do have it now, have had it before and will continue to have for years to come.
GO TIGERS GO
"It's going to be interesting. If we get everyone back, Tulsa continues to improve, and Memphis loses both CDR and Rose to the NBA, CUSA might be between us and Tulsa."

uab hacks (it's not all uab guys...most but not all) are beside themselves with envy...Incredibly jealous of this basketball program...They wish they could be or could get to the place that this program is...Bad news for them: It will never happen!!!
Accomplish something before you gloat or cast stones...Anything, really...That will likely not happen either

Don't drown in that wet dream. You are second in this league and that is how it just is. You had a chance in Birmingham and lost. Once here, you got a beatdown that bordered on someone getting arrested for attempted murder. No matter who leaves, there will be someone else to take their place similar in talent. It will take you five years to win as many games as we did in three. Until someone beats us, such talk is just that...talk.
for a team that didn't sniff the dance, they sure think they are gonna be great next year. I will stay off their boards, but I pray for the day G-Nazi or Memphis Blazer dares to open their gaping maw here.
uofmwalton Wrote:I just couldn't care less what they think about us today.
Precisely. If any of them are celebrating then it's pure jealousy. The rational ones understand that we brought attention to the whole league.

I think he was just quoting their board and laughing at them.

We are a national program. Maybe they will join us at that national level, who knows? I would like to see it.
Memphis won 38 games this season. UAB won 38 games the last two seasons combined.
Kinda silly, ain't it. Well folks that is us when it comes to UT and Ole Miss during football season. I hope we remember how silly UAB looks now.
This is why our program is at where it needs to be, because some people are making fun of us for losing the NC. They expected us to win and the only way they can get back at us is by making fun of us for losing in the NC game. I damn sure don't expect them to ever compete for a NC.

So regarding your first paragraph you would be lying. But I understand you just want to incite some of the posters here. Not everyone on the Blazers board is enjoying Memphis loss last night. Of course you have some posters that just don't like Memphis and if given a choice of pulling for the Tigers or going to Hell they would choose the latter.
Your second paragraph would also be a lie because there are definitely more posts about UAB than Memphis............just saying keep the exaggeration to a minimal.
Since you chosen to ignore the Blazer fans that were supporting the Tigers and even a thread congratulating you guys on a great season
ould like to extend my congrats to Memphis for the great run in the Dance and for representing CUSA in a way no other team from this conference had ever done.
Screw UAB and there sorry *** fans, nice run in the NIT lol

Thanks, hiddendragon. I haven't spent much time there recently, but I would believe the Memphis hate from UAB is probably being exaggerated. I know for a fact of you have supported us all the way. That said, I hope it's understandable that we'd want to take out some serious aggression today. Sorry if it was misguided.

There are always two sides to a story and usually there is some truth in both sides' versions.
But until UAB attain the No. 1 ranking in the polls, reach the NCAA championship game - - much less the Final Four, and breaking the NCAA record for most wins in a season, to me UAB fans' opinions have no relevance.
Glad to see a bash UAB thread when a good bit of UAB fans were cheering for memphis last night...
BTW.... You guys got lucky in Bartow.... Like UTK got lucky in the FedEx and Kansas getting a good shot to end regulation.... It happens.
The blowout at FedEx was coming especially with the tension that was created at Bartow.
Congrats on the run. I hated seeing you guys lose especially since you were the best team this year. SEE YA NEXT YEAR! Go BLAZERS!!!

I saw very few UAB fans rooting against Memphis. It's amazing how much interest the UAB board has been getting from Memphis fans lately. You'd think all of you would have had better things to worry about.
I was actually mad as hell when I saw that Kansas won, I was really rooting for you guys.

What are you talking about? Memphis Blazer is our biggest athletic supporter.
And for those Tiger fans making fun of UAB being in the NIT...it wasn't too long ago we were happy making a run in the NIT.
What board are you reading egrizzard? A majority of the UAB fans were pulling for the Tigers. Only a hand full were rooting against them. Why someone wants to continually stir up garbage is beyond me.......
Yes, there were a few like Memphis Blazer but they are in the minority. What happens is someone like egrizzard comes over here posting garbage like that and gets Tiger fans rilled up and a select few troublemakers will come back over to Blazertalk to start a ruckus. Then another pissing contest starts. It goes back and fourth.
I hate it Memphis lost. I pulled for Memphis & C-USA. I even bet on the Tigers Saturday. It hurt not only Memphis fans but fans of C-USA and non-BCS fans everywhere that you lost.
This is the kind of crap I don't understand.
Hiddendragon posts this:

Seriously, SOME of you need to remove that big *** chip off your shoulder.
Anyway, I'm sure I will be slammed for this but for what it's worth....
Congratulations on your run and thank you for representing C-USA.

I can out-piss any Blazer fan.

Just a quick glimpse at the Blazer board, they have three threads dedicated to us, hardly a majority. One of those threads is congratulating us on a great season. There's maybe five posters over there loving our loss and it's the same ones who have been rooting against us the entire time.
Maybe I am being unreasonable and angry after reading some of the more vile things by G-Nazi and Memphis Blazer. I am wwilling to let it go--don't look for me to be reasonable quite yet after this loss.
I hate UAb and they seem like a perfectly reasonable victim for my ranting---lol.
Grizzard if you step back and quit being so myopic, then you would see that you starting this thread is a perfect example of why there are blazer fans that cannot stand you guys. You're the poop in the ice cream.

That's perfectly fine. It goes both ways. I rank UAB right below $hit.

Hell it takes Memphis coming to your crappy town for you to have a sellout and your fans, or bangwagoners (considering you didn't come close to drawing another sellout) don't know how to act or treat guests. I love giving it to UAB

. What a bunch of envious wannabes.

Easy peasy lemon squeazy................ Blazer fans that are here, this is Memphis's board. I ask you give them the respect they deserve their board. I also ask that the same be done on our board by Memphis fans. Weather we agree or disagree with what is posted on MT.ORG it is their board, the same can be said for Blazertalk. If everyone would abide by that life would be great for all our mods on both sides of the fence.
Peace.

UAB fans have the chip on their shoulders cause you guys are wanna bes wanting to attain the status of Bama and Auburn and never will. UAB fans were the one spewing crap after Memphis pulled out the miracle in Bham and couldn't accept the loss with class. You guys embarrassed CUSA with the classless showing with our players after that game. I used to root for UAB when Gene Bartow was coach and AD but no more. Since Bartow left, many of your "new" fans exhibit no class, I repeat, NO CLASS. I experienced it first hand this year at the basketball game at Bartow. UAB fans need to grow up and accept they will always be No. 3 in Alabama. Know your role.
And my orginal comment stands. It's directed to all UAB fans who spew negative crap about the Tigers.

Since I am being brought up so much in this thread:
Yeah, I said some real vile things.
I basically have said two things since Monday's loss.
A. If Memphis hits a free throw, they are the National Champions
B. Memphis fans now know how UAB fans felt when we thought we had beaten the #1 team in the country and blew the lead in the last few minutes.
Those were not vile thoughts. Show me anything I have said since Monday's loss that was unsportsmanlike or crass (maybe there are some, I don't know).
No I didn't root for Memphis. But I didn't root for Kansas either. I don't think I am required to jump on the bandwagon of every CUSA team, including Memphis. HLT said he respected as much.
I am guessing that the majority of the Memphis responses to this post will be the usual insightful and witty F-you or Fuab. Carry on.
One Shining Moment= No Class

I'm done with this thread.
I'm still trying to figure out what I EVER said that was vile.
It was the responses I received, if anything, that would be defined as vile.
Drew, you are a douche bag. I thought you made a bet not to come here...?
Was the bet the main forum only? This is now on the smack board.
Foosball, Beautiful dog in the sig. Reminds me of the one I had long ago. I have 3 labs now.
I thought it was the 'Memphis board' I could be wrong though.
I guess we're hijacking this now, but yeah she's a rescue dog. Was a stray, going to be put down. She's awesome.

Get a clue. This is now in the freaking smack board. You know what smack is???
Oh, never mind, you're a freaking classless Blazer fan. Nuff said.
Oh, by the way, tell me which part of the last post is not true. You'll be hard to find one. Truth hurts. Accept it and move on.
I will make these points.
The University of Memphis and The University of Houston have coaches with better track records than University of Alabama at Birmingham. Every bit of respect that Memphis has gained has come from proving ourselves on the national stage. We have some great coaches in Conference USA from some great history including Penders, Davis, Calipari, Doherty, Barbee, and Eustachy mainly.
For example, SMU has Matt Doherty who was a head coach at North Carolina. He has a good track record, but honestly he hasn't and won't do anything else in his coaching career. My main point is that Mike Davis and UAB won't gain any respect from the national media and public until they can prove something in the tourney. The success of UAB will not only be dependent on what Mike Davis and the players can do, but also how much UAB fans rally around the team. I hope that Conference USA can have multiple national programs.
Fans need to support their basketball programs even when they aren't winning every game. This is important to coaches. Bill Donovan, who has a record salary at Florida, won't be there in 5 years because even after winning 2 national championships in a row he still can't fill an arena. Donovan won't want to stay somewhere he can't get any "love." Most big coaches have big egos that aren't satisfied if they aren't the star. If a school doesn't make a coach the "star" then they can't keep the best coaches. Just like a great football coach won't go to UNC or Duke. I hope UAB can make a permanent move to BJCC.
I don't mean to demean UAB, but rather simply to speak frankly about what I believe national programs must have in this day and time.
