Apparently the NCAAbbs administration is working on a new system to "grade" posters. I received this memo and thought it was very interesting,considering it involves a couple of you on this board...
just don't shoot the messenger!

NCAAbbs.com moderators:
It has come to the attention of the administration that certain members of the system are abusing their privileges on the boards by composing meaningless posts to falsely represent his/her personal status through increased post count. These baseless and pathetic posts not only bog down countless threads, but also diminish the overall quality and appeal of the entire NCAAbbs.com system.
Beginning July 15, 2005, the NCAAbbs.com message board system will no longer calculate post count for its members.
Instead, an alternate system is currently being tested for use by NCAAbbs.com. The system, currently running parallel to the post count program on the admin side of NCAAbbs.com, grades posts using a set of "buzz words" and a "word count" program similar to what is found in Microsoft Word. Use of sport-specific terminology, names of players and coaches, numerical statistics, and multisyllabic words will increase a poster's grade. The number of words per post will be used to formulate the "buzz word" percentage score.
During the current beta testing period, the NCAAbbs.com sites BlazerTalk.com, The Lounge, and CUSAbbs.com have been under the scrutiny of the new grading system. We have randomly chosen two posters' statistics, 'Flying Fetus' and 'BlazerSax', both representing BlazerTalk.com.
Under the old post count system, the statistics are as follows:
blazersax=postcount~7400
flyingmouse=postcount~1400
Upon applying the new qualitative equation, the captured real-time statistics (19:34 07/08/05) are as follows:
blazersax=qualscore%0.0968
flyingmouse=qualscore%0.6572
Roughly translated: nearly 66% of all post content for Flying Fetus fits into the quality range, where as only 9.7% of BlazerSax post content fits into the same quality range.
We hope this new system encourages increased quality of posts as well as a decrease of thread-choking, pointless, baseless posts.
Upates on the progress to implement the new qualitative post-grading system will continue throughout the coming weeks.
Thank you for your continued support of NCAAbbs.com.
