You are exactly right about "psychology and collective chemistry." And this is what Belief reinforces. The Memphis fanbase is insecure and nervous - so much so that on the day when they play UCLA in the Final Four there are still Memphis fans posting on OUR board. It's not that they don't have anything better to do. They DO have something else to think about - but they're scared to do so.
They fear defeat. They have the poseur's secret fear of exposure and humiliation. They've heard the complaints, the criticisms, all year long and they fear that the Bilases and the Phelpses and the credit card stealers are right - that the Memphis Tigers are not for real, that they are overrated, that they do not belong in the same company with three such storied programs.
All because they lack Belief. Instead of enjoying their success, instead of being proud to be only three spots behind UAB for the best winning percentage in college basketball history, instead of celebrating their Final Four and concentrating on UCLA, they come here and talk smack about some of our brothers and sisters.
It is lack of Belief that will cost them the Sacred Banner. They have the talent, with or without a backup point guard. They have the coaching, despite the excess hair gel and cavalier moral attitude. And they will likely lose nonetheless, and they will claim that someone was out to get them, but the problem will lie in the mirror. Should they somehow win, it will be a tribute to their players and their staff to have done so despite their fans' message of fear.
It is an object lesson in the price of non-Belief. Let us resolve, my brothers and sisters, not to follow in their hollow footsteps.

This time I agree with you and I do think some of us have been a little thin skinned lately. I will admit I have been in the past myself.
I have started cracking down harder on the trolls. You just can't see some of the things that has been done. As Mouse said I just don't see what was all that bad other than a thread derailment of an already derailed train wreck.
Aw. The usual solution. Instead of taking care of the problem (Memphis fans who don't know when to leave) - Split the thread.
It's not any one thing, it's the incessant nature. It's more annoying than Creoleman ever was.
At least Creoleman was witty and honest enough to admit that he did not like UAB.
