What is your favorite place? I'm curious of everybody's opinion...

Mine is the Barbeque Shop off Madison Ave.
Cozy Corners' and Rendezvous' Ribs, Payne's sliced pork shoulder sandwiches and Interstate BBQ sandwiches.
You left off Payne's, hence I refuse to respond.
Leonard's - consistently delicious. Corky's and Rendezvous are so overrated!
Left out Tops and Little Pigs. I don't know if I have a favorite. Corky's and Rendezous are my least favorite.
Interstate BBQ and Central BBQ are overrated.

Cozy Corner, the Germantown Commissary, and Leonard's are better.

The only thing close to my house is Pig N Whistle, Brad's, Gridley's, and Tops.
For ribs, Blues City Cafe.

For pulled pork, probably Central BBQ on Summer

Brad's sucks, but I always love a Top's plate when I'm in town.
Hey, what about Neely's?
The rendezvous WAS my favorite emphasis on WAS
Cozy Corner is where it's at, although Central BBQ gets better every time I have it. I know it's not a traditional BBQ, but the BBQ pulled chicken @ Central is very very good. It's a nice change of pace if you've been eating a ton of pork BBQ. Also, the Cornish Hen at Cozy Corner is some of the best food I've ever had of any variety.
Germantown Commissary can hold it's own with the best of them.
Interstate and it isn't close.
southpaw1 Wrote:Germantown Commissary can hold it's own with the best of them.

That's what I'm screamin!

Got to get me some commissary when I come to town.

(I know some of y'all will make GL jokes, but it's still great stuff, and authentic to the bone from before Germantown was "Germantown")
BartlettTigerFan Wrote:Interstate and it isn't close.

It's closer to you than it is to me. 03-lol 03-nutkick

Why isn't there an "other" option? I'm not voting either.

The pulled pork they ship is excellent.

The smoked sausage and rib tips are great also!!
Interstate puts too much sauce on the sandwiches for my taste. The commissary is awesome.
So is Central. I need to go to Cozy corner. Jerry Lawler says its his favorite. I also need to try Central's ribs
Another note on Germantown Commissary - they have Tiger decorations all over the place, and I mean things like old Tiger vanity plates, and a framed copy of the article about the 21-17 game. Don't remember the rest of the things specifically, but it's all around. Also, if you are in there in Tiger gear and they are not too busy to talk, they will probably at least notice it, if not engage you in conversation about the Tigers.
I don't care for rendezvous much at all, and I've never tried the commissary. Pig n Whistle in Bartlett is good, but the original interstate is my all time favorite. Gridleys was great way back when old man gridley was alive, but went down hill after he died. Corkys is ok if you aren't close to anything better.

Payne's was awesome if you weren't looking for frills and didn't mind the drive. Tops was also one of the best bangs for your buck. Commissary was good and a fun place to go, but I seem to remember that their ribs weren't necessarily wet and weren't necessarily dry. More of a combination. I always prefer them dry!
Leonard's BBQ is great. Their dry ribs are delicious and they have the best beans in town.

Central on Summer Ave is very very close behind them. Since neither are on this list, I can't vote for any of the others.
Thanks. Now I'm freakin' starving. You guys knock this sheet off.
Germantown Commissary gets my vote.
Blues City Cafe gets my vote. When my wife and I come to town a visit to Blues City Cafe is high on our to do list.
what? no Tops or Germantown Commissary?...that's not right!

Go Tigers!!!
Drew
Yo, for some reason, I also always make sure to get some TOPS while I'm in town. It is good in that bad way. Like sometimes you want a hamburger and sometimes you want a Krystal. Well, sometimes you want Leonard's and sometimes you want TOPS. You know?

The first time Jerry went to Cozy was with me. He had never been there and we went after his wrestling show one Saturday.
Topps is my favorite (Sycamore View) and I hated when Gridley's shut down thier real restaurant that used to be at Macon and Sycamore View.
no one go to 3 little pigs on quince?.... great sandwiches and good double cheeseburger .

where is paynes now.. is it still on lamar?

Payne's is the same place they've always been. Converted gas station/garage I believe. The daughter runs it now. She's a sweetheart. I usually make a beeline there from the airport. Three little Pigs is from the original Loeb's chain.
The people who picked Rendezvous need to be outed as miserables and burned t the stake....
The place sucks. Plain and simple. I have known that for 20 years.
Best ribs = Blue's city Cafe and Leonards

Best BBQ sandwich = 3 little pigs and Interstate BBQ

Worst ribs and over rated = Rendevouz and Corky's.
For pulled Brad's used to be good. They may be there again but the old lady that was behind the counter doing the prep work either quit or retired and the yahoos that replaced her knew nothing about pulled pork sammich prep. This was several years ago mind you so hopefully they are back.
Ribs??? Mine on my grill. There is no way to do ribs the correct way and make money doing it. You would have to charge $50 a slab. And for the record - rendezvous ribs are terrible. They sell the sizzle there - NOT the steak.

When I was in town last summer, I finally stopped at Brad's. It seemed the place had been there forever, so I figured it must be pretty decent. Thought I'd sneak a quick BBQ sandwhich. Nothing against Brad, but it was horrible.
really surprised at all the hate for rvous.
Love the sausage and cheese plate, red beans and rice for appetizer.
Then, pork sand. as main meal.

Also, think original Corkys on poplar is great.
Other Corkys dont seem to be real deal. Especially, the ones here in Nville.

We're boycotting Rendevouz. Didn't you hear?
G'Town Comm is very good plus they do feed our hard working musicians which is appreciated.
Tiger stuff is really neat too.
The little white concrete block store just before you get to Big Creek Golf Club has about the best pulled pork sandwich I have ever had. Order the jumbo and I bet there is a pound of meat on it. Ask them not to put salt on the fries, though.

I grew up about a half a mile from there (corner of perkins/quince) and my folks still live there. So I went there all the time as a kid. I remember more than one occasion my moms taking me to get some grub at the Little Pigs on a summer day and then walking over and bowling at the All Star lanes. 02-13-banana
Someone needs to make mention of the tasty-a** onion rings at Leonard's.

The lemon pie is tasty too

I like pie.
I love the the ribs at rendezvous, but they have the absolute worst service ever. I guess they don't care since they have so many tourist coming in there.
+1 for Commissary

Whole Hog?
IMO, Rendezvous is only good for its seasoning they put on their ribs. Without it, it wouldn't be as popular as it is. Payne's has the best somked sausage you'll ever taste in your life.

Interstate's ribs w/ rendezvous seasoning is fi.
Love the Commisary. Used to really enjoy Corky's ribs. Was in town for Christmas with the family and went. Hard and tough....disappointing....
