A #1 seed hasn't won the conference tournament since 2001. Anyone superstitious? I haven't seen anyone else playing better right now in the A-Sun. As the ETSU fans continue to self-implode over their athletic department's vision and Jacksonville's weak schedule against the bottom-end of the league, Belmont seems almost a certain bet for another trip to the NCAA.

Possible higher than a 15 seed?

Share your thoughts. Don't be bashful.

UPDATE: We have a higher RPI than all the other 14 and 15 seeds except UMBC (according to bbstate.com). Too good to be true?
A 14 seed is a realistic possibilty. 13 would be surprising. Should we win Sat. and the tourny then that would be 13 in a row with some quality wins earlier in the season. Maybe go to Birmingham.

It is great to be the #1 seed however history isn't on our side. We certainly have been playing consistently well however, I don't think we've seen the highest potential yet. I'm not sure I'd like to play lip in their place again. It would be quite the local spectacle though.

Byrd seemed to indicate that unless we win the league outright we wouldn't go to the NIT(if neither jax or belmont win the tourny). I know lip went the year we tied and they were the number one seed so is there some other part of the qualification that says if your tied then the team that hasn't been recently goes?
Interesting fact about the 1 seeds (glad it's on you guys now). If you beat GW and of course win the tourney, I think you will be a 15 seed for sure. A 14 is stretching it. If Jax, GW or ETSU wins, then it's a 16 seed. If anyone else wins the tourney in an upset, then it's most likely the play-in game. Just my 2 cents.
Don't think having the tournament in your home town actually matters. Thats my $.02.

That said, if Belmont wins the tournament, they will be one of the top 15 seeds. Depending on how things go in other leagues, it's entirely possible to get a 14.
Updated today, Lunardi says Belmont vs. Xavier in DC. Anyone have any idea if this puts us as the lowest 15 seed? I would think that the region ranks for the tournament are:
1. East
2. West
3. South
4. Midwest

Can anyone clear that up?
I wouldn't count your chickens before they hatch
Here is an interesting site where they keep up with various seeding predictions and show the average seedings.

The Bracket Project
Lunardi's been wrong every year since 01. He just picks the top placed team in every 1 bid conference. It's a joke.

Yeah, I understand that part. At least it will possibly show what seeding the A-Sun will get.

Nice to see Belmont as a 14 seed in the Bracket Project.

Not bad considering how bad most of our league has been.

Mercer, you are starting to sound like an ETSU fan!
