Full Version: Cal, fix it now!

Our guys are not in shape, and at this time of the season is ridiculous.
Several times last night our guys did not get back on defense because they were out of gas.
On one play after we scored, Andre and another Tiger (can't recall who it was) were jogging back down court. They were waving to the sidelines to be sub'd because they were out of breath. Mean while utk zoomed by for an uncontested layup. This happened more than once.
If Cal doesn't recognize this and fix it, then we need a new coach. I don't want a new coach, so please fix it Cal.
Fix it before the big dance.
Yeah, the Tigers are out of shape.... thats what happened. Out of all the dumb posts I have seen this one gets the dumb*** award. If Cal doesn't recognize we are out of shape, we need a new coach..... about all I can say is dumb***.
I second that emotion!
Someone needs some sleep! lol

My bad.
I guess Andre was waving to his girl friend and forgot about playing defense.

So what, he got winded.... it was an emotional hard nosed game and AA gave his all and needed a breather.... won't be the last time he leaves it all on the floor, but I guarandamtee you it wasn't because he is out of shape. Like I said.... dumb*** POST.
I played full court basketball for the first time in months yesterday, and I almost threw up. Guess what I rediscovered? Playing basketball is hard. And if one of the best teams in the country is getting winded late in the game, I'm assuming it's because they are playing hard at a very high level.
After we lose a game, how many days does it take for all the newbie dumba$$es to go away? Someone let me know, so I'll know when to check back in.

This was in the first half. Andre had only been in the game a few minutes. Playing an emotional game can zamp your breath, I played in high school myself. I love Andre, but waving to the bench to be sub'd should not cost us a basket, but what do I know. I'm just a dumb***.

You said it, not me, I called your post dumb***.... which it was. But since you played high school ball(like probably 90% of the posters here) in such emotionally charged atmosphere like #1 vs #2 in the country so many times, I'll just agree with you.... we are out of shape and it will cost us a championship..... once again, thats just dumb***.

I agree somewhat. Some of our guys were gassed. Rose could barely stand up and had to be removed from the game. I sure everyone saw this. Now, Rose played his A$$ off and I can understand his fatigue. Memphis has a lot of players go in every game. Might have to cut back on some sub PT and get the starters ready in case they need 40 minutes from each. We will see this in the NCAA's. IMO, UT seemed to be in better shape. But I also think that the high emotions might have taken a little something out of our guys.
stoby you are officially a dipsh!t
I guess the vols weren't emotional. I didn't see any of them getting scored on while waving to the bench to be sub'd. I didn't see any of them winded like our guys.
If we are in shape then we need to do a better job of subing, so we don't get in that condition.
I played HS ball, but sat the bench. Never been in a 1 vs 2 game.
I apologize to all for having an opinion.
I'm not a newbie. I been on this board for years. I just don't post much. Afew years ago I was MSTiger, but someone took it when the site was changed over and we had to re-register.
Also, I apologize for typos. I just brought a new ergo friendly keyboard that sucks. I smashed my old KB on the concrete basement floor last night at the end of the game.

They begin to dwindle on the 3rd day.
stoby go to the UTknox board with the rest of your buddies

This is just one fan's opinion, but it seemed to me that Pearl was swapping his players in and out much more frequently than Cal, and I think the minutes played will bear that out. And, their comparative freshness was evident. I don't know if that is evidence of getting out coached, but we sure got "out benched."

This was even more evident in the 2nd half when Cal seemed to virtually quit subbing.

I always thought that one of the assistants kept track of minutes to avoid players having to play when they were exhausted. But, maybe that routine has been eliminated in order to play guys till they have to literally beg to get a blow.

Don't believe I've seen us get beat down the court so many times as last night, and it seemed obvious to me that it was a matter of sheer exhaustion.

Big game excitement or not, this new shortened bench strategy may have been a little overdone last night. Especially against a team that utilizes its depth.

And, this seemed noticeable in the UAB game as well, as they exhibited a deeper bench than us--or at least a willingness to use their bench.

This is merely an observation, not a condemnation.

Oh brother. The lovely VICTIM card. I didn't think your posts were too tragic til this one. A thicker skin can help.
Right on, bro! We need to hire someone who can do better than this 26-1 crap Cal's peddling. He obviously has no clue what he's doing.

Needing a new coach was sarcastic statement. Cal is great. I would not want anyone else. Apparently, I misled folks with that statement, but WTF. It pisses me off when people (especially geoff) put him down. Geoff took some jabs at him today in his article. I guess I'll catch hell for talking bad about geoff.
This thread is dumb. It is dumb because both teams came out jacked up, played hard, and left everything out their on that court. It is an insult to suggest that they are not in shape.
Yeah, 26-1 is ridiculous. FireCalipari.com. Yeah, some of our guys were tired at time, but Tennessee's players did the same on numerous, numerous occassions. You can't tell me Chris Lofton wasn't obviously a little tired and frustrated after getting D'ed up all night long.

I am proud of the guys, and everyone else should be, too. Think about it — we lost our first game of the season on Feb. 23 and we MIGHT drop down a couple spots to the lower end of the TOP FIVE. Damn, season's over. Come on, we're REALLY FREAKIN GOOD and we're still going to San Antonio. After we cut down the nets, I'm not going to be able to care any less about losing to UT.
Please tell me this is a joke. This can't be a real thought out of someones brain.
The emotion of the game took the players wind more than usually.

Pearl trust his bench more than Cal. Pearl's offense can get players who can't play shots. Our offense doesn't.
hey stoby, since Memphis isn't going to make it to the tourny now you can put your UTknox hat back on

But you are the one that dropped the soap.
Whoever moved this, thank you. I did not know I was going to get phucked like this. This is worse than what I will get at work tomorrow where it is 99% ut fans. Tuesday can't get here fast enough.
Thanks again.
If you have 99% UT fans at work that'll be great for you! Just talk about how Cal didn't do a good job and how great they are, they will love you! 02-13-banana
