Going thru your groceries, Targets, what not, and hearing the sh!tty music playing heres my description of a day, if I were muzak programmer, here's my list for a typical day. Say the store's open from 8 am to 10 pm. That's 14 or so hours of music, no? So I figure that's 840 minutes, if the songs at least 4 minutes long. 840 divided by four equals 210. That's approx. the (four minutes) maximum. Sure, you'll have your 60's and prior tunes that were a required two and half max. So equate that in. Actually don't. Disregard everything I've said, and make your Muzak mix from 8-10. Actually parameters do matter. So go by two hour blocks, four minutes, that equals 30 bands per two hour segmant. Radio friendly (i.e. nothing obscene or too weird- by that i mean nothing of an acquired taste).

Here's mine, just list the artists, we can get into specific songs if this becomes something worht talking bout:

I'm going to break the rules and skip the idea of being a Muzak programmer for a moment.

If I were in charge of a store, I'd like to think I'd come up with some cool mixes, but there's something about the album format that I wouldn't get completely away from...which album depends on the type of store. If I had a random store, I'd run with Johnny Cash records. Everyone from grandmothers to punk rockers, from sinners to saints love Johnny Cash. Plus, I love Johnny Cash. You can't go wrong with JC. However, if I owned a sandwich/lunch/resturaunt/deli/bar & grill joint, I'd have Jimmy Reed's Greatest Hits spinning through the lunch hour. It's the perfect style blues for lunching over a good sanwhich, some homemade style chips and a dill pickle. Seriously, give it a listen http://www.amazon.com/Best-Jimmy-Reed/dp...06&sr=8-11
This has been on my mind since the summer of 1997 when my coworkers took me out to lunch on the last day of my internship. We went to a resturaunt/bar/grill type place that had the best blues playing. It was such a perfect fit. Anyway, Hound Dog Taylor and Junior Wells are a nice fit as well.

Tomorrow I'll play along with the Muzak idea.
