WMC is reporting that the Grizzlies are talking to former mayor Dick Hackett about replacing Andy Dolich as president of business operations.
Why in the world would he want that noose around his neck? I guess the salary will be significantly more than what the Children's Museum can pay him and maybe he thinks it is worth it.

I guess if I could bankroll a wad of cash for a few years, even knowing it was for a losing organization with a boss like Heisley, I might take the short-term gain.

Wonder what the folks at Central and Hollywood are thinking about this?
Hopefully this is a sign that local ownership is soon to buy out MH and get his butt out of town. I'd hope the Hackett was smart enough to avoid working for MH long term.

Trust me, he isn't.

What has MH done to be known as such a poor boss?

Not saying MH is a poor boss- just piss poor at running an NBA franchise which I guess if you are an employee of that organization and you hope for some LT stability then perhaps that does make him a poor boss as well.

from the outside, MH seems like a hands off boss, he also provided $$$ for West's salary and for him to sign players and to pay the luxury tax. his hires seemed to be poor hires in that they had no idea ow ot market a sports franchise,

I hope Hackett does not fit this description.
Dick Hackett would be a horrible hire for the Memphis Grizzlies.

I don't doubt Mayor Hackett's contacts in the business community and with the elite of Memphis. I don't doubt Dick Hackett's work ethic.

But ask Dick Hackett if he thinks the Grizzlies can be a success in Memphis. I did in 2001 when we needed our leaders to be supportive of Memphis getting the opportunity to host a major league franchise. Mayor Hackett did not believe the Grizzlies could be successful in Memphis. What would have changed for him in the last 7 years when questions still are raised about the team's viability in Memphis? If Dick Hackett is bearish about the Grizzlies, will he really promote the Grizzlies aggressively? If Dick Hackett's baby, the Wonders Series could fail under his control, how will he lead something he never believed in?

Ask Dick Hackett if he would have built a stadium to attract the Grizzlies. Chances are the answer is no. Mayor Hackett is not the visionary the Grizzlies need.

Tell me why Michael Heisley doesn't just break the bank and hire Allie Prescott or Steve Ehrhart?
