Just giving the Blazer Dems a heads up... you'll need tickets.

Huckabee will be at Samford on Saturday.
Dagum...and I have to work...
Instead of seeing Hussein today, I'd rather stick my head in a blender.
Wow. Two major party presidential candidates will be in town this weekend. Looks like a good weekend to look for bald eagles at Lake Guntersville.
I will pick up some eggs if anyone want to join me.....

I'll come throw eggs with ya... with Hillary painted on the eggs tho! Hillary 08!
blazinrunner Wrote:I'll come throw eggs with ya... with Hillary painted on the eggs tho! Hillary 08!

but why waste the eggs?
The Marshall game is the weekend before Super Tuesday. There'll be six candidates left, seven on the unlikely chance Il Duce doesn't croak in Florida. And Alabama has open registration - we can vote in either primary.

I love my Blazers so, I will vote for any candidate who appears at halftime of the Marshall game and joins us in the holy chant of U-A-B. I'd even vote for Willard Romney.
blazinrunner Wrote:I'll come throw eggs with ya... with Hillary painted on the eggs tho! Hillary 08!

Why???

I'd be careful...Mittens might change his mind at the last minute and yell "WE ARE..." at the crowd.
That's ok, we'll just yell "BLAZERS!" back at him.
04-jawdrop What a disgrace to have him in Bartow Arena. 03-puke Gene Bartow should give him a 03-nutkick then a 04-chairshot

All I can say is 03-puke 03-puke 03-puke 03-puke 03-puke 03-puke

I also agree, why waste eggs on that scum. 01-lauramac2 01-lauramac2
What makes him a disgrace, bmt?
Now that Obama has crushed Clinton and Edwards (in Edwards home state) it looks like whoever comes out of Super Tuesday (also Mardi Gras) with wins will have a sizable lead. Edwards appears finished after a poor third in his home state. It's looking more and more like a Clinton-Obama fight to the finish for the Democratic nomination. Florida looks to do the same for a couple of the Republican candidates.
Edwards is from North Carolina, not South Carolina.
Memphis Blazer Wrote:Edwards is from North Carolina, not South Carolina.

Well, he was born in Seneca, South Carolina. He attended Clemson, along with UNC and NC State.

Good Question. Sounds like all those vicious, false emails about him and his heritage, etc have had the intended result of generating negative vibes about the man in the electorate. Im not saying that I support him, mind you, but I do have an open mind to hear his ( and other's) views without discounting them before I even know where he stands on issues.

Be sure to keep a barf bag close.03-puke
As much as I don't support the guy, there seems to be about 6,000 more barack fans than Blazer fans at Bartow. !st sellout of the year, lets keep it up!
Ron Paul was the only candidate, left or right, that I was really interested in.

For the rest of them.... I've heard it all before, time and time again.

Obama is a lawyer... he knows how to write and speak, and certainly can manipulate people. That is what lawyers do.
You'll probably be able to get over Obama being there. I just got back, and it was great. Got to shake his hand on the rope line.

What will disgust all of you though, is how many people were in the stands wearing Bama and Auburn shirts.
Mixdup, did he make any references to Alabama? Or more specifically, did he say anything about UAB?

Barack does what we can't. Fill bartow arena. 03-lmfao
Maybe we should have an obama night to fill the arena.05-stirthepot

The speech was more or less the speech he gave last night after winning South Carolina. He did mention Birmingham, the civil rights stuff from the 60s, and Alabama, but he never mentioned UAB specifically. I think they had to be careful with that because they probably paid to use the arena and there were probably issues with it looking like the UAB administration was actively supporting him. Artur Davis did mention UAB a few times specifically however during the introduction.

I see bmt still hasn't answered my question, probably because he can't. When you ask most people why they oppose or support a particular candidate, they can't give you a coherent, logical answer, because they don't really know anything about them.

Remember, if you watch television news, you will know less about the world than if you just drink gin straight out of the bottle.
Why would he had said anything in particular about UAB? He wasn't there for UAB but for Alabama. Maybe he could have said Bartow is a nice arena and Gene was a great basketball coach.

Oh he could have mentioned the UAB and Memphis should be a good game. Or he could have touched on the excellent medical facilities and care provided at UAB. Not a thing to do with politics but damn Scotty he could have said something.

I ask the same question, seems like every day. NObody can ever give me a reasonable answer. It's always something that they heard someone else say on TV, or nothing. The scary part is the amount of people in this state that hate him because of his skin color. Or because of his name, they think he's realted to terrorists. I know it sounds crazy, but I have heard it. Someone the other day actually told me that they would move out of the country if he became president because they heard he wants to swear in on the Qur'an.

....seriously.

I've heard a lot of people say that too. I've heard a few say something about him being muslim and thats why they don't like him and a few other rumors like that. I personally don't like any of the Democrats because I want a smaller government, but I've at least researched most of them. But if anyone other than Ron Paul wins the Republican nomination and Obama is the Democratic candidate, I would definitely prefer him.

Course, if the election comes down to Hilary and anyone not named Ron, I have no idea what I'll do. I'm hoping Obama pulls out the Democratic ticket so I have a second option.
My objections to Obama is the same objection I have to Romney. Both seem to have all flash and polish and media personality, and not substance. I also do not like the lack of experience he has.
Just saw the video on the Fox 6 website. Not a great speech, yet he touched on issues/concepts that the audience could get behind. Wish I could've been there in person.

Needless to say, I'm hoping Obama's visit to UAB's home court becomes slightly more notable and historical after the fact.
<<My objections to Obama is the same objection I have to Romney. Both seem to have all flash and polish and media personality, and not substance. I also do not like the lack of experience he has.>>

I agree. Though now that we wind up 8 years of President Herman Frazier, anyone else looks good.
Since the electoral vote is "winner takes all" and Alabama is generally conceded to whoever the Republicans nominate, I don't expect ANY Democrat to come here and chance creating problems elsewhere where the outcome may be in doubt. When I was growing up, the state was effectively given up to the Democrats as part of the "solid south". Now it is effectively the opposite- no one expects the National Democrats to stand a chance in this state. We have wound up being taken for granted either way.
Sure wish I could vote for this man again!

He lacks military experience. That's good enough for me to not vote for him.

Well, according to Obama (or at least his PR folks), he's a Christian and has attended the same church for 20+ years.

According to Obama today in his speech he said exactly that. Who do you trust to tell you someone's religion. That person, or someone who has a political agenda against them?
The sad thing is that it's my sister. Unfortunately, she is very young and easily influenced. She attends a Pentecostal church where they feed her this kind of crap almost every day. It's to the point where we cannot talk about anything political or related to religion in any way or it's an argument. For xmas I wanted to give her Zinn's People's History and the Jesus Camp DVD, but my mom and my wife wouldn't let me.

The draft dodger or the Vietnam Vet?

Fixed that for you.
I'm trying to find out what military record our current president has. I didn't know campaigning for Senate candidates in Alabama counted.

The way the field is looking I just may vote for for the great Ronald Reagan one more time. He was a real leader and I think a dead Reagan tops a living Hillary any day.
