Not sure how much credence to give this, or if the pope has weighed in already.
if true, I wish him well. Looks like he has some trying times ahead and it ain't gunna to be on the hardwood.
Prior to the incident involving his cousin, I gladly thought he would sign with us, but afterwards, I was having conflicting thoughts about whether we should continue to pursue him. I hope everything works out for the young man because he seems to have a bright future in basketball.
Memphis will be fine without Tyreke Evans, especially if either or both CDR and Dozier come back next season.

I guess I see it this way: if he's guilty, I don't want any part of him. But we won't know that until much later. And the same thing if he's innocent: I would love to have him, but we won't know that either.

If he is innocent, though, it's a shame that the guy is going to have a stigma attached to him.
I'm curious, have we seen this come from anywhere else other than the Villanova blog? I haven't checked out the recruiting forum in awhile....

Good luck to him either way....
The "business decision" revolves around the fact that by the time his cousin's case goes to trial, in all likelihood, Tyreke will already be enrolled in college. By attending 'Nova, he won't have to travel back and forth between cities if he's called on to testify. Probably in the best interest of the Evans family and I wish him the best. However, I disagree with the writer that the addition of Evans makes 'Nova a Final Four contender...I think they are still missing a Joey Dorsey type presence inside.

This won't prevent me from attending some American Christian games in the coming weeks sporting my Tiger blue.

Cute dog, but what's up with those ears?
Um, I hate recruiting crapola but were we still pursuing a guy who was the driver for a drive by gang shooting? Is this really what it has come down to?

Not to take this off topic, but since you asked -
He's a pure breed Jack Russell, but he has a condition called "prick ears" (No comments from the peanut gallery neccessary)....His ears stick straight up. Trust me, they fit his personality, he is a TERROR.

You shouldn't be so judgemental.

True, we have all been out driving around and had guns go off accidentally from the back seat. Oh man, you cons are some funny people.

Can someone who really knows answer the question? Were we still actively recruiting this jackass who was driving the car in a gang attack?
I look at him signing somewhere else as some very good news.

Not me. I posted it because it was Tiger related, by and large I hate recruiting stuff until the kid actually signs.
tigertommy Wrote:Um, I hate recruiting crapola but were we still pursuing a guy who was the driver for a drive by gang shooting? Is this really what it has come down to?

I with you on that. You know, every game the announcers will bring this up (Just like with the Jeremy Hunt thing) and it would make Memphis seem even more thuggish.

He was highly rated. We are a forgiving university.

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I THINK Wolken said in one of his articles or on the radio that we were still recruiting him. Let me see if I can find it.

Don't you wish we were on the parole board?

I'd rather lose to Ole Miss and Louisville 400 times in a row than to have a guy on the team who drove the vehicle in a gangland drive by killing. Wow, I can only hope we pulled waaaaaaayyyyyy off when this news hit. I just completely ignore recruiting stuff but evidently I shouldn't.

I certainly hope you are not poking at me for not wanting a guy who did this on the team? Being a perfect angel is not needed. Perfect angel is the same as freezing in a block of ice as this is to burning in a fiery pit. Big spread between being an angel and being involved in a gang drive by. I'll take GF beaters any day over that. Geez!
Oh well, looks like it's time for a Plan B. Or is that Plan C since we lost out on Willimas, a hometowner at that. We better win it all this year now mroe than ever. Or it's gonna eb a long time before we do.

I think this report is all BS. There's not a single confirmation of this on any Villanova site.

He better be good. They monitor my posts and you've apparently been placed on the top ten wanted list.

And on the side of the blog it even says it is an opinion piece. Who knows. Recruiting is a strange science.

Thanks for the compliment on Radar missj! He is a great dog!
I think Koko is a cutie as well.

Obviously you've read nothing about the situation. No one knows for sure yet what really happened, but to date he's working with the police against his cousin who did the shooting. He may or may not be a decent guy, but to judge hum like you are without knowing anything is pretty f'ed up.

I agree. You said you never follow "this recruiting stuff" and no problem there. But there have been a series of articles about this situation that would be worth reading. It's not pretty. The situation is tragic in many ways, but it seems like a wrong place wrong time situation.

Like the rest here, I hope Tyreke finds a safe and enjoyable place to play ball. I encourage folks to not take an unknown blog citing a supposed post on a message board as the gospel truth on this.

I'd dance a jig in front of the FEF if you'd even remotely get the facts straight just once. You take every opportunity to misquote and disparage that you can. If there is a negative sarcastic way to respond to any post we all know that it will more than likely be tigertommy that will take the bait. LOL

Look back at the story and then tell me who was being attacked.

You couldn't read it any other way. So don't try to say you misread it.

Never once was he implicated as the person who shot back after being shot at.

It's widely reported he accomodated any and every request the police have given him.

Has he been charged or arrested for any crime after all of this time has passed?

I just gotta say this after reading many articles now about the gangland drive by. Some of you would bend over and blow a donkey if you thought it would win a couple of basketball games. This kid is scum and does not need to be in college but in prison. He is complying now only because one of his handlers told him to or his future was frucked. Sad day to be a Tiger and see some of the foolishness on here.
Gangland?
Easterwood Wrote:Gangland?

It was a gangland shooting. They were the ones doing the drive by as far as I know. Hard to drive the house by the car. There is nothing out of what I have read that would lead any sane person to think the guys in the truck didn't fully know what their purpose was that night.
"As far as I know" is the key quote here.
Easterwood Wrote:Gangland?
Too much tv and movies (Sopranos, Boys in the hood and Scarface) LMAO. Quick with the stereo types.
You guys are funny. You talk as if you something but don't give any links to prove what you say. Funny, but I have to ask. What does donkey **** taste like?

How about the fact that he has not been arrested and reports that he is not considered a suspect? I guess your interpretation of events from 700 miles away based on your imagination and scenes you remember from movies outweighs that of the police investigating a shooting death.

The difference between you and I is I wasn't there. I don't claim to know the facts but if the police haven't charged him, why would you? Now, who looks like they're spreading the manure by just opening their mouth? Donkey poo poo, you should be able to tell everyone here what that taste like. Me, frankly, I don't want to know what donkey poo poo taste like. LMAO
I'm rubber your glue.

Bounces off me.

Sticks to you.

Have you read up on this story? I mean read articles from newspapers and not from recruiting sites that are only interested in his basketball ability? The kids story just doesn't go over very well. They had a lot of time to plan out what they would say. I find it hard to believe the other two in the car knew about the gun but poor OLDER Tyreke was clueless. If Tyreke was not a bigtime recruit with special handlers paying for a lawyer he would be in jail awaiting trial as an accomplice.

Maybe you might as you say "blow a donkey"; I know I wouldn't even come close to it.

This time last year you were posting that Jeremy Hunt was sponsoring and allowing the use of his image to appear on a flyer/advertisement for a New Years Party. You maintained that he was breaking NCAA rules and that Memphis would be busted and we wouldn't go to the NCAA Tourney.

Well; we're waiting. What happened with the NCAA investigation???

Those sanctions really hurt our chances didn't they? LOL You freakin idiot.
