Saw this last nite. If its showing near you, definitely dont miss it. A biopic of Ian Curtis, lead singer of Joy Division. Beautifully shot, and incredible acting. Depressing, but very very good.

(Dyno, its playing at the Music Box for the next few days if you get a couple spare hours 03-wink

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

I see City Lights is playing as well. Did you go see that one? I really want to see The Future is Unwritten, the new film about Joe Strummer. It's recieved some good reviews from what I've seen and the trailer looks pretty cool. http://www.joestrummerthemovie.com/

I was actually thinking about renting Bullit tonight.
I didnt see City Lights, although its on my list. I did see the "final cut" of Blade Runner earlier this week tho...pretty awesome getting to see that on the big screen...that opening shot of future LA with the Vangelis soundtrack in the background..gahhhh..

The Joe Strummer trailer looks great, Ill have to keep an eye out for that one too. The Music Box has the Kurt Cobain film coming in a couple weeks as well. I havent read any reviews, but it looks intriguing

All this reminds me, I've still got to check out The Devil and Daniel Johnston (if i can find it)
Devil and Daniel Johnston is awesome. Just fantastic. It shouldn't be too hard to find.

The Cobain film sounds interesting, but the visuals lost me. Maybe it works in the film, but it was too random in the trailer.

Speaking of music films, I'd like to see that film Dig! about the friendship/rivalry between the singers of Brian Jonestown Massacre and The Dandy Warhols. Anyone see that one? 84, I'm sure you have.

From what I gather, the film consists of audio interviews Cobain did with journalist Michael Azerrad (who also wrote Nirvana's biography). So essentially the cinematography consists of "ambient" shots (around the pacific NW/Seattle) to complement the interviews and sort of set the tone. I've heard mixed thoughts on it (some feel they could just as easily listen to a cassette tape of the interviews and spare themselves going to the movie), but the visuals look well done so it may be worth it.

Dig! Is absolutely awesome. You must watch. It's equally parts hilarity and very somber. The paths the bands took was so well done. They spent, I wanna say 7+ years following the bands. I bought the film and it came with a BJM sampler. At the end of the sampler is a 20 minute conversation of Anton (lead druggie and singer of BJM) with a DJ of a radio station during a bout of sobriety. Great listen.
