Miranda Lambert #2? Did her brother write this artcle?
I haven't heard the the Lyle Lovett album, but the rest of the Top 10 seems alright. What I want to know is where is "Band of Horses"? "Cease to Begin" was definitely a Top 10 album...
Couple way down on that list that I figured all the hipster rags would have a lot higher. I guess Pop Matters is hipper than hip. I'm suprised to see the National and Arcade Fire aren't tied for first on every list. Seems everyone went gaga over them when those records came out. [edit: looking back at Paste right now and I see they're #1 and #2,

] It's nice to see Spoon get some love on a few of the lists I've seen so far (#7 in Pitchfork). I really like that record.

Zip 3
they had some good hip hop albums and others i haven't heard, but it was a little odd to see pharoahe monch "desire" at the top spot.
Biggest Disappointment
Beastie Boys- The Mix Up
Mine was the Shins. It's a decent record, but it doesn't grab me like some of their other stuff.
Remembered my other dissapointment. Bettye Levette. Her first record was a great soul record and this new one is just cheesy, over-glossed candy.
I also didn't like Lucinda Williams new record too much.
I remember that. That song friggin rocks. Never knew James could write such good lyrics. Though "Someone Great" is my favorite song off the record. Have you heard 45:33 yet? I've heard it's better than Sound of Silver.

My biggest disappointment was the Clap Your Hands disc. What a letdown, it's not even good.

I love Someone Great too...that pulsating synth gives me chills. And the lyrics are brilliant. Both those tracks are amazing.
I do like 45:33, but its basically just a DJ mix. There are some cool elements to it, but by no means better than Sound of Silver. The part everyone went ga-ga over was an instrumental version of what later became Someone Great. Definitely worth a download tho.
I did one on the Woxy board, but obviously over the span of a month, one can change their mind. Here's my final '07 top 10
1. Arcade Fire- Neon Bible
2. Okkervil River- Stage Names
3. The National- Boxer
4. Bat For Lashes- Fur & Gold
5. Tegan & Sara- The Con
6. Feist- The Reminder
7. Architecture in Helsinki- Places Like This
8. New Pornographers- Challengers
9. Joanna Newsom and the Y's Street Band EP
10. Bishop Allen- The Broken String

Thought of another dissapointment. The Mooney Susuki. Didn't cut it for me. A couple decent tracks, but nowhere near as good as previous work.
