I am going through a few thousand pictures from my UAB days and will post some pics as I find them.

were some of those at ETSU? Looked like their mini-dome.

Yes. Cheerleading (mascot) camp was always at ETSU back then.

Wow. What's up with the color in those pics? I don't remember BTR being that red.
I want a pair of those boxers that BTR is wearing!

That blonde little girl that you are holding in the 5th picture doesn't look too happy. Shame on you for scaring little kids. How do you deal with angry parents when their kid was scared by you? Not saying that you purposely scared or chased some kids, but I know you ran into the overprotective parents. How did you handle it?
When kids are scared... you back away. If a bratty little 12 year old is punching you, you take him out with your tail. The tail was always plausible deniability.

I can put them on ebay. Should I wash them first?

OK, I should have said LIKE BTR is wearing. I still laugh about the time Greg Blackman was BTR and we went to meet the team at the airport after winning the Great Alaska Shootout, and B'ham airport security made us put the tail thru the X-ray machine.
BTR, who were we playing in that game in BJCC. Judging by the scowls and relaxed posture of the fans in the third pic, we must have been getting blown out pretty bad.
I like the shirts the band is wearing in the last pic.

Why was BTR pushing the van?

That was at the arena. No idea who we were playing. I will try to find the picture to see if it has a date stamp on it.

Comic relief. Imagine if you are driving down the road and a big rooster starts pushing your van. Anything for a laugh...

If those things touch ebay, i'll never forgive you...

Judging from the look of the Kaleidoscope issue, that basketball game was sometime around 1990-91 season. Could have been 1991-92 but I don't think so. Perhaps '89-90 season.

Noting the clothing on the guys in the stands behind BTR (acid washed jeans, very bon jovi-ish) and the fact that it's around Christmas (dance team member in green santa-style attire), one can assume this was a non-conference game against a non-major opponent (smallish crowd) during the late 1980s, very early 90s. The opponent can be seen wearing blue-and-red, detroit pistons-style uniform in the background of one of the shots. Their shoes do not match, another sign of perhaps a not-so-major team.

So ... someone with a media guide handy should be able to narrow the date and opponent down fairly easily. My off-the-top-of-the-head guess would be Jackson State.
12/14/90 - Monmouth - colors = royal blue and white

or

12/6/91 - Jackson State - colors = blue and white

If this board had existed after that game, it would have been shut down.

Ummmmmm ... Could I have just the right shoulder of that costume? 03-phew

Ok, BTR, outside of BTR, who would be your favorite college mascots & why? Where would Blaze rank in your listing? We all know where the gay male viking Blaze warrior would rank.

Big Red was a cool mascot - I like it because of the flexibility that the costume offered. He could EAT basketballs!

I would say that any costume that allowed mobility would be high on my list from a pure mascot standpoint. Mobility allows you to do so much more than just stand there looking cute.

I do not like mascots like Notre Dame where it is just a short person dressed like a leprechaun.

I recognize Kyle Puchta (spelling?), Kelly Wright, Brian Oaks, an AOPi with the last name Griffis (again spelling) and then one of your chapter brothers in the back, dark hair. Can't remember his name, but remember him from IFC. Is that Renee next to the Griffis girl. Also I remember that really tan girl but have no clue of her name.
