Ticket sales poor in Jax. A longgggg way for all but three teams in the conference to travel ... a moderate drive for everybody else.

So what does the ACC do??

MOVE THE GAME EVEN FURTHER AWAY TO TAMPA!

ACC fans -> 03-nutkick <- Swofford

They BETTER keep Charlotte at the end of this fiasco ....

they should go ahead and keep both championships in Carolina. its the center of the ACC and the reason why it is as big as it is
ugh... anyone else thinking of bailing to the Big East or something?

Swofford is definitely screwing the pooch ..... and GT (and BC) have been royally shafted by the ACC in the last several years.

Doesn't make much sense... move it to a town that supports the SEC first (Florida), and USF (Big East) 2nd? I'm not sure there is a good city to hold the game, however, due to how wide spread the conference is now.

Just testing the markets in Florida. They will get a better turnout in Tampa. Tampa have more entertainment to offered than Jacksonville. There is a good chance one of the Florida Teams will be in the game in year 2. There are alot of Boston natives in the Central Florida to help boost ticket sales if BC makes an appearance in the game. I look for Orlando to get a chance to host the game before a decision to hold it at permanent site (Charlotte).

bball= Greensboro
fball=Charlotte
I agree with esayem, however.. the reason some left the ACC long ago was the obvious Tobacco Road bias. I see a failed attempt to appease the newer members by the Florida move...

The ACC needs to forget about appeasement. Expansion should have provided more than enough appeasement for the newer members. They need to just be happy to have the conference as they wanted it, count their money, and shut up. Centrally locating the conference championships, not testing markets, is the best thing for the ACC, or just about any conference, in the long run.

the ACC can only go where they are wanted. and where they get paid to go. Jax wasn't a bad choice.. had UM or FSU been in the games.. which was expected it would have done fine. Same is true for Tampa. I think more fans will be willing to take a tampa trip than Jax, its nicer place to visit and they can always take a 2 hour day trip to one of the orlando worlds.
The problem is that a league can't choose a location and then hope to get certain schools in the title game. The last three seasons have shown the danger of that approach since you never know which teams will be good in any given year. The ACC football championship and basketball tournament need to be held in the geographical heart of the conference where they belong.

That would be somewhere between Boston and Miami. I nominate Washington D.C.

Make that the geographical heart of the contiguous ACC, meaning BC does not count, so the winners are Charlotte and Greensboro.

I think charlotte makes the most sense.
