Does any one know what is going on with the future of Coach West? Is everyone happy now that we beat a combined record of 3-13 (Tulane and Rice)? I hope our fans demand better.
Chill out and let today's game be played before posting stuff like this. Today will tell us if we still stink and just beat bad teams or if we have actually improved. Let it happen first.

I wouldn't completely dismiss his point. Many Tiger fans are still very disgruntled with how pathetic we have looked this year. Right now the dude is correct. We have beaten some really lousy teams. Win today and some become believers again. Sorry, TW is not Jesus and does not command blind faith. People want to see something to believe in. Empty W's don't excite many but the small core Tiger group.

Well, you know how things work. When things are good or we win a big game most are too busy getting drunk or laid to worry about posting. When you lose you are just piss faced drunk and want to spout off somewhere. Coming here is better than telling the wife/gf to go to hell. lol
Obviously, with only 7 posts, bgw doesn't spend his entire life on the board like some of us...ahem, present company included...so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. However, this question has been asked, answered, debated, beaten and prodded so much that it's fallen into the "old news" category.
I was one of Coach West's worst critics after the MTSU loss and have since admitted that I was a little hasty in my criticism. There's still four games left and, after seeing signs of life in this team, I think three wins is very possible. If that happens, the questions of TW's future won't even be an issue.

Thanks TT...I agree with you....lets play it today...in all actuality this is a bowl game today against a good team that has played a tough schedule in Va Tech, NC State, a decent North Carolin team and West Virginia. They are playing tough teams and playing them well so today will certainly tell us if our improvement is good enough to be competitive against decent teams. Playing a good team, homecoming, a chance to get closer to bowl eligibility and even still a shot at CUSA championship game, if this is not enough to get the team and coaches motivated and ready to play, not sure what will. Yep but West is here to stay as long as he likes or as long as RC and SR are here so we dont have much to look forward to. If I am correct we also only have about 16 shcolarships for next year and I am not seeing ANYTHING in the way of hope on the D side of the ball that will make us even competitive with the average teams in our league...so we had better hope TW can figure something out and quit getting beaten as bad at recruiting as our defense is getting beaten on the field.

Do ya think? LOL but hey RC is happy with our progress and 6-6 against 5 D1 teams that combined wont have 7 wins is acceptable and probably grounds for further contract extensions......and I am sure we will continue to recruit the same way and keep getting beat as bad in recruting as we are on D.
Oh now. We all need to be quiet as to not hurt recruiting. I think we actually have a commitment now. SHHHHH!

I don't know if this loss deserves this much drama...
I expected us to go 6-6 or 7-5 this year so we are about at my expectations.
We are some big time DL recruits away from a CUSA contender. Take it slow, have a long view. Build the OCS, fill it with our alum's, and let the football coach do the rest.
I do demand better. We have a 4-4 record, with one win against a D-II team and the other three against teams ranked in the bottom 15 of the country! It is terrible and embarrassing. I have been calling for better, and will continue to call for better until we get a coach who can recruit and win games against at least decent teams. As a student and tiger fan I really want an OCS, but I don't even think that would help us. Face it folks, it just doesn't look like we are going to be getting any better any time soon. Thank God it is basketball season.[/u]

Coach West has never been more than a .500 coach (See his Total Career Winning Percentage). The three years with Deangelo are the oddity not the norm. The last two years are more of what to expect with Tommy West.

I do hope this loss is a dose of reality for the people on this board who blindly believe we actually deserve, belong or even should sniff a bowl game. I AM A TIGER FAN, but I am also a realist. Who have beat? AHH NOONE! So 6-6 and being below average in a well below average conference makes bowl eligible? Wake up!! I do want to see OUR tigers turn the corner and become a year after year contender, I do give my hard earned money to the university and the athletic dept. ALL I ASK IS FOR A BETTER PRODUCT ON THE FIELD!! Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. I believe we are in year 2 of this process. It's an embarrassment. I was in a Vegas a couple of weeks ago and was playing poker and we got on the subject of football and the SEC. I was talking about it and telling them I was from Memphis so I watched the SEC. They asked me who I rooted for and I said Memphis. I got a couple of ewwws and laughs. I just laughed it off and said it comes with the territory of being a Memphis fan. I was sitting next to a GA fan and he said that is what you can expect with TW. I just shook my head and said yep.
