but I have to agree with dragonbreath on te attendance issue. In a word.....pathetic.
The on campus stadium issue will NEVER....I repeat NEVER be taken to the next level as long as the support, or lack thereof, is as evident as Saturday night. Less than 12,000, are you freakin' kidding me? Against a top CUSA opponent? After a big win the previous week?
I came out Saturday expecting to see a crowd that would exceed Tulane's crowd, because of the win the previous week. It's downright embarrassing to see what little concern there is for this team.
And don't even start to mention the issues that we always harp on as to reasons why attendance is so pitiful.....Talladega? Nope, sorry, that one was burned a couple of weeks ago. Auburn? On the road, in Baton Rouge, an 8:00 start (about the time we were down by 35). Alabama at home against UT? 11:30 start, by the time we started Saturday, the lights had been off at Bryant Denny for hours.
I'm tired of excuses, I'm tired of seeing this program plunge deeper into mediocrity, I'm tired of all the whining about we're getting shafted by the BOT, face it, if we're ever going to get this program to a respectable level in the conference, in this state, we need to support the team, WIN OR LOSE, in spite of all the external factors we always come up with as to why our attendance blows. For the 1st time, Saturday, I sat there actually seeing why folks around this state make fun of our program, from attendance on down to the coaching staff.....if we as Blazer fans are apathetic, why do we expect anything more from those on the outside looking in?
I'm tired of being ridiculed. If we're going to be D1, we need to step up to the plate and take it upon ourselves to make this program respected. All other folks are going to do is continue their ridicule if 11,000 is all we can mange for a home game against a conference opponent.
