Look Ive been hearing about this crap for far too long. Harold Byrd is a friend and I know his heart is in the right place. But this new stadium on or off campus in nonsense. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE LIBERTY BOWL. Does it need new locker rooms YES does it need a media center YES may be a new JUMBO TRON. But thats it. Get it up to code and play football and shut the hell up. Look Im the biggest tiger fan around and until we can compete for a cusa league title the liberty bowl is fine. Face it no bcs league is gonna come calling if we cant compete and win in cusa. Hopefully its this year. Give me some feedback. GO TIGERS!
Do we have an old ON CAMPUS STADIUM?
Yes its Tommys Office. You know what I mean.

You say there's nothing wrong with the Liberty Bowl, but then you say it needs lockerrooms, a media center, and maybe a jumbotron. Sounds like there is something wrong it then.

I'll give you some feedback. Tommy West did my talking for me at Tuesday's HH meeting. Asked about the OCS, he cited Louisville's rise in the football world after Papa John's and said UCF has a leg up on getting a BCS bid because they were doing the right stuff including their new stadium.

I guarantee you that Tommy West thinks we need the OCS to get in the BCS. So do about 90% of Tiger fans.
I did not say to leave the liberty bowl alone it does need about 20 million in upgrades. That 20 million is way better than 180 - 250 million now isnt it. A bcs bid would probably come quicker with a new on campus stadium but you need fans buts in the seats also for a bcs bid. And you know damn well we will be luckly to have 25 thousand there against Marshall. No wins= no fans no fans= no bcs its just that simple.

I can see that there is no point is us continuing this discussion, because you are obviously a "sky-is-falling" type of person. I believe attendance for Marshall will be 35,000 to 40,000. I will be there and will do my best to to have a butt in every one of my 9 seats. Will you be bringing others to help attendance?

Here is the correct formula for success:

OCS + WINS + ATTENDANCE = BCS MEMBERSHIP
You are living in some dream world if there is that many people on a tuesday night espically if we lose on sat. Ill buy you 4 front row seats to tiger b ball. I will be there with all of my seats full. Cal has a top team he gets top stadium. Tommy does the same thing as in winning in the conference he gets a new stadium. PERIOD!

Plus it needs about $50 million to get into ADA compliance. Add about $40 million for the upgrades and you are looking at what an on-campus stadium would cost.

You must be "TigerSteve".

The Tigers drew 28,298 for Jacksonville State. How in the hell does the attendance to the Marshall game (a conference opponent) suddenly fall to 25,000? And don't say midweek game. Memphis has drawn quite well for midweek games (52,384 for Louisville in 2004; 47,163 for USM in 2004; 47,769 for UAB in 2005).

Hopefully Im wrong about the attendance for a tues. night game but you were talking about louisville at the time was a top 25 team wow that was a great game too. And uab is one ofour biggest rivals. If there is more than 25k at the game tues. Ill come on here and take my medicine but these fair weather fans of memphis will not support a losing team. And you know it.
The main reason for an OCS is ownership. I am tired of being treated like a 3rd class citizen in a stadium that dont care about us. The city has never cared about nothing but making money off of UM. So do you listen to any of the politicians? Heck, the city wont keep up the one that they supply us now, do you really think that they will care for a new one or the lb either. Has the city ever put in profits from the lb back into the lb? NO. That stadium has been paid for years and the city has not put one penny of profits back into it at all. That is not going to change either. There was a reason why willie got rid of the park commission, to build his new stadium and that is it. Have you notice the difference when he got rid of the commission and before? Many have and it is not good. This city nor the politicians should be allowed to ever build nothing again in any form of stadium or arena, until they learn how to take care of them first. LOL (with our politician, that will never happen). We need to get the city out of our business and cut all ties with them. The city still faces lawsuits from the ADA and soon from the US government for the 6 millions for not moving MATA. So you have 6 mil for the city to pay off that debt? Dont be surprise when the ADA files another lawsuit because the city isn't moving fast enough to show that the city is indeed making progress. I have heard rumblings from several that are not impress with what the city is doing on their behalf. I have 2 friends who are in wheelchairs and they are serious about this too. As one said "It is time for the city be put on a timetable for the improvements. This is just a stall tactic by the mayor." With the UM study, I expect the city will have to wait until those findings before making a decision and that lawsuit could force a decision before the results are in.
You can bowl in socks, but all the pro bowlers I've seen wear bowling shoes.

A stadium is pretty much standard equipment in this game. I wouldn't expect a bowler wearing socks to have much success. I don't expect us to have much success either until we get the proper equipment.

You can rationalize and complain all you want, but Memphis has been pretty bad for a long, long time. Memphis hasn't had their own football stadium since Crump Stadium was built. You think the two things might be connected? I do. I think it is the biggest no brainer in town. Not having our own stadium has cost us hundreds of millions of dollars in revenues, conference opportunities, recruiting opportunities, and alumni participation to boot.

If you don't get it, then just get out of the way.
Would a smaller OCS (35,000 - 50,000) help with attendance? Here is my long winded reasoning, let me know what you think:

If you have a limited commodity, in this instance seats, then the perceived need or desire for that commodity generally goes up. So, if there is scarcity of a resource, people will tend to want it more and fill up a smaller stadium. Everyone knows that for a game at the LB, there is no urgency to get a seat. You could show up 1 minute before kickoff and easily obtain a seat to just about every home game for the Tigers. However, if you were not sure you'd be able to get a seat at gametime, you might invest in season tickets to ensure it, or buy single game tickets early on. Now, let's say game time comes, and you are a casual fan. You don't already have a ticket, and something else comes up, you don't go. In a scarce resource (seats) economy you will have purchased your ticket well in advance and planned on going game day no matter what. So, ticket sales and attendence would be at near capacity every game assuming we maintain our average attendance we've been getting at the LB.

I'm sure this has been brought up before, but I've just never really read about it or heard it and if you all have any comments on why it is faulty logic or good, please let me know.
