For some perverted reason I have gotten interested in reading minutes from past meetings of the Board of Trustees. I thought I'd post some nuggets. I'll continue to post to this thread as I find them

Back at the beginning of the system (1969) the minutes constantly refer to UA as "The University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa". Also, there was a recommendation from the Dean of the UA Law School to move it to Birmingham, but the board rejected it.

In 2002 when UA and UAB were getting new Presidents and there were a few vancancies on the UABHS board and the UABOT, there was discussion of reorganizing the system, one step was centralizing some administrative functions, one of which was payroll..since at the time UAB was implementing a new payroll system. It never panned out because by that point UA, UAB, and UAH had significantly different policies and practices regarding most of the things and there would not be much cost savings.
I was reading over the "Black Friday" meeting notes. Richard Scrushy was UAB's number one defender on that day, and while he may be a slimeball, at least at that point he was a friend for UAB athletics.

Regardless of his problems, he was always a supporter of UAB Athletics.
