Here is what he says about it. It's CLEAR he was provoked by the "innocent" Rebel fans.

So, the truth is that a bunch of whiny, uncouth and foul mouthed ole miss fans were acting like the low-class people that they are, and didn't like it when our coach stood up for his team. Too freakin' bad. Go Tommy!

I have a suggestion. Keep your redneck butts away from our team bus or at least keep your mouths shut and there won't be any problems.
Sportsmanship is an alien concept for some Rebel fans, but perhaps Tommy should have turned the other cheek despite the provocation. Tommy has to explain his actions before the press while Ole Miss fans can afford loutish behavior without accountability.

Where does he say that he dropped the F bomb? We know that something was said and that is all. If you are going to get upset that our coach was defending his team and his school infront of your schools fans, that is fine. We would be upset as well if the situation was reversed but do not try to act like this is entirely on Coach West. Anyone would stand up for their team whether we are paid to do it or not. If I was taunting and cussing your kid, sister, mother or just one of your friends you would rush to defend them as well and Coach West looks at his players as his kids so don't try to say that the situation is not the same. Bottom line is that if he did say that, he went too far but the fact that the OM fans are so upset because children were present is laughable considering what was prob. being said to our players and coaches to promt that responce from Coach West.
Everyone can have their own feelings about this situation but if we had said that Coach O said that same things that Coach West said you would be defending him tooth and nail.
Also, if you dont want your children to hear the F word or anything else that can be offensive, then it is prob best not to take them to a college football game in the first place.

Point of clarification...this did not occur exiting the team bus, but rather entering the stadium locker room area.. Thanks again City of Memphis for the great new locker rooms you built us at the Liberty Bowl. As I stated earlier, this is just one more reason we need our own OCS. With proper management, this whole thing could have been avoided. Looks like the city of Memphis would try to do a few things that its primary tenant has requested.
sounds straightforward enough to me - if you don't understand it or cannot comprehend it (meaning OM fans, students, alumni, coaches and most definitely players), then you need to go ahead and rent a gun and buy a bullet...thin the herd.

Man these Ole Miss folks are some sad folks. They won the daggone game but they still have to come on here and bug us. Our coach stuck up for our team like he should have and I am proud of it. I guess I can see that the only reason some of these Webel fans are still on here messing with us is that they got one of their only wins this season and they know it and rather be on their own board and stare that reality in the face, they'd rather stay here and pester us. Its not gonna do any good WEBELS.....the losing is about to begin and it is coming up maybe in a week and won't stop for awhile.

No players of any team should have to stand for being harrassed by fans. The coach is in a difficult position and should do all he can to keep his temper and words under control. Hey, there are low-brow fans in any crowd that are obnoxious, etc. That's no excuse for them. They should be booted from the game. Finally, I remember some (actually a lot) Memphis fans after the ASU Hail Mary game last year. These people are everywhere. Best to just avoid them if possible. I'm looking forward to seeing a lot of my Memphis friends at the ASU game this Saturday! It should be a good game!
