.287 average 26 jacks (top 10 in the league) 25 stolen bases 79 ribbies and plays the best second base in the league. This cat could go 40-40 in the near future.
yeah, that was one of the best pickups of the 21st century. Though i always wonder how a guy like this would do away from that ballpark.
His splits, home and road aren't that drastic I belive.
well, that's definitely impressive then. He's probably the only 5 tool 2nd baseman in baseball.
Amazingly, his OPS is about 80 pts higher on the road. talk about crazy. I said last year, that i'd give it a year before i evaluated him. i guess it's safe to say he wasn't a fluke. I think the Indians could've used him, though the change of scenery might've been a big part of his success.
Too bad the rest of our club sucks with the exception of Dunn, Griff, Hamilton, Harang and Encarnacion.
would you take jonathan sanchez for encarnacion? i think it's the perfect trade for both teams. we need a young hitter and you guys need good young pitching.
No. Edwin is one of the better defensive third basemen in the majors and he when on he can hit the living **** out of the ball. I haven't given up on Edwin yet, plus I don't know much about Sanchez.
i don't think as a GM, i wold offer more than sanchez. definitely not lowry.

Wedge ran him out of town. The whole time he was up they were trying to change his swing so he could hit to the opposite field. It was reported that he and Murray butted heads and thats where it went downhill it seemed.
oh, the great eddie murray, who's been fired like 3 times. barfield is decent, but phillips makes him look like john mcdonald.
The question is, where do the Reds go from here? it's an intriguing problem. what they do in the next year will probably control the destiny of their next 10 seasons. They have a mix of excellent young pitching and hitting. Bailey, cueto, votto, and bruce, should all be involved with next year's team. Phillips is a franchise second baseman and encarnacion is a very good 3B. Hamilton is oozing talent as well. They have Harang who might be an ace (see bottom) and hopefully arroyo turns it around completely. I hope for their sake, Krivsky (or whoever the GM is) manages this team properly. The first question is, what do you do with Dunn. It's a tough one. I know there are a lot of Dunn detractors, but he's hitting around .265 with a ton of HR's and he'll have over 100 RBI and a great OBP. It's not easy to find (look at the Giants).
As for Harang; he has ace stuff and i'm not saying he isn't one, but it's hard to analyze a great pitcher who pitches in a launching pad. You can't always look at his road stats, and you can't trust the auxiliary home numbers. Pitching in a pitcher's park changes everything. All in all, i think he can be called an ace. Can you think of a pitcher in the central who's definitely better than him? Probably oswalt, but i can't think of anyone else. I don't zambrano is. i'd rather have harang.
Word in cincinnat is that the Reds managment thinks Votto is nothign more than AAAA player in the ilk of a Brandon Larson or other triple A studs that can't make it in the bigs. So, Id on't necessarly think that he is in Krivsky plans even though I think he at least deserves a shot. Our beat reporter has said that the Reds will pick up Hattebergs option.
I have done a total 180 on Dunn. He has really had a great year. His average has taken a huge spike and his rbi numbers are as better than they have ever been. But I think that this off season either Griffey or Dunn has to go. You have to make room for Bruce to get a starting job out of spring training, he is that good. And Josh Hamilton has to be your starting center fielder next year. He has the highest OPS of our trio of great outfielders and he hadn't played ball for an extended period of time in four years (and that was in low a)!!
Harang has to be an ace. His ERA is in the mid three area but he is still getting better. I think the Reds are 16-1 in his last 17 starts or somethign crazy like that and the only time they lost was when Aaron left in the first inning with back spasms.
it's funny you should mention that about votto. when i saw him in durham, i wasn't that impressed. his swing was a little long.
can't dunn play 1st with hamilton and bruce in the OF? i know that leaves a spot open, but i'm sure they could fill it.
i haven't watched hatteberg, but do you think it'd be good to bring him back?
They tried dunn at first in spring training a year or two ago and he hated it. If they want to resign dunn to a long term deal it will not be as a first basemen.
On Hatteberg, he is a nice player. Walks a decent amount and a good doubles hitter but I think Votto at least deserves a chance and if he can't handle it then Cantu or Keppinger could man first base.

i agree
I mentioned Jay Bruce earlier and I just want to reiderate (sp?) how insane this kid is. He is a 20 year old center fielder in triple A. His numbers for the season?? .320 26 home runs 89 rbis 46 freaking doubles and OPS'ing about .960 for the season. I don't care about Justin Upton and Cameron Maybin. Jay Bruce is the truth, he is a freaking man child.
well, with those 2 being in the bigs, bruce has a good chance to win milb player of the year.
damn, i didn't realize bailey was sent to the FSL league. He must have some serious issues, becuase he's been beaten up in his 2 starts there.
It's been an awful season for Homer. He took a huge step backwards this year. Hopefully it's all related to the groin issues he has had most of the year. On the otherhand Votto had three hits including a homer in his first big league start today and Brandon Phillips hit his 28th home run which broke Joe Morgan's records for HR's by a second baseman while on the Reds.
it definitely can't hurt to give votto PT at first. It's not like the reds are going anywhere, you might as well see what he's got.
