It was awesome. Hank aaron did a little speech on the big screen which i thought was a really manly and grown up thing to do. I have a new found respect for aaron. On the other hand i really happy selig wasn't there. For the past handful of years i've been a big fan of his, but now i completely dislike him. He's such a prick.
Congrats to Bonds. The ceremony was great and Aaron's speech was complete class.
i can't wait till merriman breaks the sack record and everyone applauds him.
Couldn't agree more with the following article. I don't watch any Bonds games either. I'll watch celebrity poker before I'll watch "The Great Pumpkin (Head)" play. Haven't seen the homer, never will. Bonds is a piece of crap! Last post on this thread for me as I already gave him too much press.

Former Braves star Dale Murphy: Bonds `terrible example for our kids'

August 8, 2007

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Two-time NL MVP Dale Murphy thinks Barry Bonds is a "terrible example for our kids" and that the San Francisco Giants used performance-enhancing drugs "without a doubt."

"Barry's a great player, there's no question about it, but he put an asterisk by his name on his own," Murphy said Monday on AM radio 1280 The Show. "He's deserved all the negative publicity that he's getting. I mean, people are calling up and complaining, I've heard the last few weeks, that that he's being treated unfairly. You know, life just usually isn't like that. You don't usually get treated unfairly. You usually get what you deserve. This is what Barry deserves. He's a hard guy to like. He's a hard teammate to have and, you know, he's set a terrible example for our kids."

Murphy, who hit 398 homers in 18 major league seasons before retiring in 1993, said he refuses to watch Bonds' games.

"That's what you say to your kids. You say, 'This is what happens when you take steroids. Your dad doesn't want to watch this, because this is stuff that's drug abuse, basically, as we know," he said.

Bonds, who broke Hank Aaron's record Tuesday night by hitting his 756th home run, has denied knowingly using performance-enhancing drugs. A federal grand jury in California has been investigating Bonds on possible perjury and tax charges.

"Even in a court of law you can have ... a preponderance of circumstantial evidence to convict somebody," Murphy said. "Now, maybe I'm wrong, but when you get enough stuff on a guy, you can make a decision and it's just really a no-brainer. The guy would have become one of the great ones, anyway. ... But now, he sucked the fun and the life right out of it. I mean, there is enough evidence to me to say without a doubt he used performance-enhancing drugs. He hit 73 home runs when he was 37. I mean, Hank would have hit 855 if he had the same advantage."

i cant believe i caught the ball. how much should i sell it for?
i have a question for murphy. does he turn off phillies' games when brett myers comes in to pitch? does he watch the chargers at all? how about the panthers? I'm not saying that stuff makes it right, i'm just curious as to if murphy refuses to watch all bad influences.

It took Barry Bonds breaking his record for you to respect Hank Aaron?? You mean all the racism and hatred he had to endure when he broke The Babe's record wasnt reason enough to respect the (former) home run king?

Really??

no, of course not. i said new found respect. i had respect for him, then i lost it when he was acting like a bitter, old man. It seemed like whenever Mays got cheered or mantle got revered, aaron got pissed. And then there was little revolution in the media, where it seemed like everyone had to justify and defend hank's greatness. It was ridiculous, nobody ever questioned his greatness, we always knew he is/was a legend and one of the best ever.

BTW, Mays being talked about more is justified seeing as how he was a better player.
