This was the moment that cemented Picard as the greatest captain, IMHO. The best scene of the best episode of ST:TNG...I think I read somewhere that Patrick Stewart watched videos of actual torture to prepare for this two-part episode. Goosebumps![/youtube]

For those who haven't seen it, and those who never will, Picard had been tortured by this Kardasian. It all came down to him showing Picard four lights and asking him how many there were. When Picard said, "Four" he would be tortured, and the Kardasian would tell him there are five lights. Picard refused to say he saw five and they kept torturing him. At the end of the episode he is being interviewed back on the Enterprise by Counselor Troi. He admits to her that, in the scene above, he was prepared to tell the Kardasian that there were five lights before the guards came in...
