It is looking like now the schedule will breakup:

#1 / #8 and #4 / #5 games for both the men and women will be on Wednesday and the #2/#7 and #3/#6 games will be on Thursday
If that is true then it is completely absurd, and the A-Sun has fell even lower in my book. It's bad enough that the tournaments have to be at school gyms, but this is a damned outrage!
First off, the A-Sun isn't the only conference to play their tournaments in the same gym. Second off, please enlighten all of us to why this is such an outrage?

Yes it would be nice to have all women on Thursday and all men on Friday, but it hardly as bad as you are making it out to be.

People may think you are funny and whatever, but your grasp on college athletics is terrible.
Who thinks he's funny Camel?
ETSU people (well it looks like it is just one of them)
Women's games first each day?
That I don't know, and this still could change.

Personally, if they are going to go with this format I would like to see the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds play on Wednesday, gives them the advantage of the day off on Thursday.
Why are we allowing 8 teams in it? There's barely 8 teams elligible. Give 1 and 2 bye's.

Yeah, I was a little surprised to see the 4/5 winner will get Friday off.

(BC, Check your message box.)

Right now I guess the thinking is they don't want to "break up the bracket" by having the two teams who will meet in the semis playing on the same day.

Personally, the more the better. I like the bigger tournaments and wish it would be a 12-teamer when we get to that point. But I can also see the other side of the argument.

top 2 seeds should get a bye. Why should the 4/5 winner be awareded.
1 ETSU 16 2
2 ^ Belmont 14 4
3 Jacksonville 11 7
4 Lipscomb 11 7
X Kennesaw State 9 9
5 Mercer 8 10
6 Campbell 7 11
7 Gardner-Webb 7 11
8 Stetson 6 12 .
X UNF 1 17

6-12 and 7-11 played in last years tournament. Got beat and went home. What is the point?
Campbel...

My grasp of college athletics is just fine, It is you and your little division II-esque A-sun pals that have never experienced college basketball...I realize there are some conferences that host tournaments at members home gyms and its inglorious as can be. The southern conference tried it one year at Chattanooga and the experience wasn't anywhere near the same. I don't expect you to understand these things. I realize as a Campbel fan you've never experienced a conference tournament where the schools and their fans invade a neutral town and literally take it over for a weekend. You don't have the advantage of having the glorious memories from Asheville and Charleston, such as I have. You've never gone into a restaurant and found yourself surrounded by an absolute sea of Marshall GREEN!

Frankly, you just sound Jealous because I can speak of glorious memories and you don't have anything that can come anywhere near matching it. So tell me again that I don't have good grasp of college athletics.
You know nothing about me, so please don't tell me what I have experienced in my past and what I haven't.
If you have to ask what's bad about dividing up a tournament...then yes I do
I never said I didn't think it was a bad idea, but it is not an outrage as you say. The conference is trying to find ways to increase the attendance for the tournament and I think that this will help.

Also, you really don't know me and don't know my past experiences in college athletics and what events that I have been to and what memories I have. I promise you though, that they are far superior to your SoCon Tournaments in Asheville and Charleston.
we're all oblivious to the D-I schools except the ASun because we're so new and young and helpless. Give me a break. What is on TV all the time? What is drilled down through national sports network sites? March Madness, the ASun wasn't even a footnote, no offense to Belmont. There's other example of great caliber schools and I can assure you, none of them even mention ETSU.
TV does compare to the weekend conference tournament experience. And in order to get that full experience....THERE HAS TO BE ACTUAL FANS WHO SUPPORT THE SCHOOLS THAT ARE IN THE CONFERENCE. You schools of the A-Sun are an embarrassment to civilization. There's probably a bigger following for cock fighters in Mexico.
Hey guess who else is in the A-Sun.......ETSU
That's right Camel...and last I looked you guys haven't beaten us in your entire school history.
Point? ETSU should dominate this league, especially Campbell, Stetson, Mercer, GWU and to an extent JU. When you look at the funding for the different programs in this league and compare the small privates to the large publics, this league is going to be dominated by FGCU, KSU, UNF, etc... in the coming years.
What are you, French?
Why, because I am realistic?
bleh, maybe I started it but the smack talk has come over to the sane talk board. Need to correct that. At the very least lets agree to keep the conversation outside of personal attacks.
You just don't seem to have a zeal for winning
I'm a loser. I like losing, it gives people like you a reason to think you're better than I am.
Nick don't be a drama queen. I wasn't referring to you at all. You Kennesaw people can smell victory.
Think about this... If Wednesday was strictly Women's Quarterfinals Day, how many seats would be filled? Very few, I imagine. Most folks would stroll into town early Thursday.

The ASun is looking to maximize dollars here, plain and simple. Keep in mind the League will flaunt the attendance numbers for this combined Tournament when the next bidding process takes place, if all goes well.

Thanks for the info Big Camel, btw.
I don't believe for a second that including women is going to strike up attendance numbers. If teams can't bring anyone for the men...then they certainly can't bring any fans for the women. Basically lipscomb and belmont will be the home teams (who knows what that will actually mean), and if ETSU is good...count on a thousand to two thousand fans.

HOWEVER, b/c it is being split like this....and ETSU fans would have a complete day of nothingness....Attendance that first round will probably be lower for us then what it would be if it were a normal and glorious three day tournament.

So the A-sun may indeed have this in mind, but it is faulty vision. The only thing that this will accomplish is to weaken the already weak men's basketball tournament....AND IF THAT IS NOT AN OUTRAGE....then fans of mens a-sun basketball have nothing inside them to be outraged about. Which given the fact that no one goes to these tournaments other than ETSU fans is not that surprising.

And that is the way it is.
1st round in an 'everyone' gets in tournament is pointless.
Tell that to Davidson about three years ago.
why was this moved?
Probably b/c you started talking smack in post #3
Why don't you go come up with some more creative threads like the gem you posted in the Lipscomb forum.
Because the only school in the A-Sun that I have an outside hatred for is Lipscomb. And when we play them...It is HOLY WAR!
Surely the Spitters aren't talking smack? Dude, two years ago, ZERO FOR THE SEASON!
Spitters...that's clever.

I've never had anything against campbel, but "the big camel" is on his way to changing that.
Who's talking smack? I said that ETSU should be better than Campbell and they are.
