Wondering if anybody heard this. Was listening to Bubba The Love Sponge and he said the news just broke. I remember him from my wrestling watching days and he was always a good worker. They called Test to confirm the news.
Also read somewhere it's just a story line. Hope so but that is pathetic if it is. Wrestlers die too often to start making story lines out of it.
This had better not be; I will be pissed to high hell, and I'll never watch wrestling again.
The place that said it was a story line was wikipedia. That part has been removed.
This is no story line. WWE has scrapped tonights show and its strictly a "Tribute to Chris Benoit"

This will almost have to kill "Vince Death Angle". How can he not get on camera tonight. If he stays off just to keep that angle going then he is cold. If he gets on like he should then the Angle is killed.

When I heard about that story line I knew something like this would happen.

EXACTLY.....

It was Sherri last week...

Chris Benoit and Woman, both killed today..

The thing is, Benoit was scheduled to be at Vengeance last night to take on CM Punk for the ECW title. He ended up having to fly home at the last minute due to a family emergency.

I am utterly sick right now..

I think thats only the 2nd time Ive seen Vince show emotion. Eddie was the other. If you think about it, thats 1/2 of the Radicals. Saturn is MIA and Malenko is retired.
Eddie and Chris were the best of friends.

They're together again....
So the wife and kid were already dead? Not a suicide, murder type of deal?

Well, now I'm reading that Benoit actually never made it to the PPV last night. He ended up staying home due to whatever the family emergency was.

Man, I don't want to think about this being a murder/suicide.

Yea, I remember Test saying something about no-showing a show last night.

FWIW, Test also said two of their children were in Canada visiting grandparents. Only one kid was at home in ATL.
Man, I'm saddened by this. The man was definitely one of the underrated greats, worthy of his spot among the "Horsemen", and one hell of a worker.

A sad day in wrestling.
From the Atlanta Journal-Constitution:

Quote:
A well-known professional wrestler and his family were found dead inside their house in Fayette County Monday afternoon.

Authorities confirmed that Chris Benoit, his wife Nancy and their 7-year-old son, Daniel, were found dead at the home on Quarters and Redwine roads in Fayetteville about 4 p.m.

Officials were investigating the deaths as a murder-suicide.

Benoit, a 40-year-old Canadian native maintained a home in metro Atlanta from the time he wrestled for the now-defunct World Championship Wrestling.

Most recently, Benoit fought as part of the World Wrestling Entertainment organization. WWE canceled its live show in Corpus Christi Monday night, and its broadcast of "Raw" on the USA Network was a three-hour retrospective on Benoit's career.

"Obviously, all sorts of speculation are running rampant but I have talked to so many people and nobody really knows [whether the couple was having marital troubles]," said Bryan Alvarez, who runs Figurefour Weekly, a wrestling newsletter and Web site, from Linwood, Washington.

Benoit was scheduled to appear in a pay-per-view title match Sunday night, but was a no-show due to a "family emergency," the WWE said during the broadcast.

Benoit's wife, Nancy, managed several wrestlers and went by the stage name, "Woman."

They met when her then-husband drew up a script that had them involved in a relationship as part of an ongoing storyline on World Championship Wrestling.

Soon after, the two became romantically involved in real life and married, Alvarez said.

Benoit has two other children from a prior relationship.

Where did you see Vince? Was he on the beginning of RAW? I missed it.

Please don't let this be a murder-suicide...I will be too sick if it is.

They have shown him at the beginning of each hour.

Quite possibly the saddest day in wrestling since the Owen Hart tragedy. I always enjoyed watching the Crippler work from a technical standpoint, his matches weren't just a 10 minute stunt fest, you actually got to watch technical ability. They showed his 96 Hogwild match with Malenko earlier, it was incredible. I was looking so forward to Benoit/C.M. Punk last night, those two could have easily put on one of the best matches of the year. It just seems too many of our great ones are being taken from us too early.
MSNBC just reported it is being investigated as a murder/suicide.

I remember the Owen Hart deal. That was still when I could use a "black box"(man those were the days). It sucked that they made such a talent be the Red Rooster.

Terry Taylor was the "Red Rooster"
Owen Hart was "The Blue Blazer"

This is sad news. After the Vince limo explosion storyline, I was thinking "what if a wrestler dies in reality during this whole storyline"? Sure enough my thought came true. I remember seeing Benoit wrestle against both Edge and Bobby Lashley within the last few weeks thinking how he was the only remaingin member of the "Radicalz" still left in the WWE. Perry Saturn and Dean Malenko had both left the WWE leaving only Eddie Guerrero and Chris Benoit as the only remaining members of the Radicalz left in the WWE. After Eddie died, it was only Benoit left. When Eddie died Benoit took it the hardest even saying in tears that went like "I know we'll see each other again sometime", we didn't know sadly it would be two years later. I had the thought that this was a storyline at first to throw us off, but searched on the net and saw this was indeed reality. There was no evidence of foul play involved such as gunshots. According to Wikipedia Benoit cancelled his upcoming match to attend to his family because he said his wife and son were bleeding from their mouths. My first thought is maybe they were killed by carbon monoxide poisoning. According to authorities they believe that maybe Benoit killed his wife and son in an arguement then committed suicide. We don't know the whole story yet.

I missed the first 13 minutes of the three-hour broadcast thining it was going to be the Mr. MacMahon tribute, then saw footage from the 2004 Royal Rumble with a "Rembering Chris Benoit" message. I know Vince MacMahon came on first talking about the incident, but who was the first other superstar after Vince (not counting the announcers) to be interviewed about remembering Benoit?
Double murder-suicide confirmed at WWE.com:

Damn shame...
OK, I may sound harsh and any of you that want to fire away can. Suicide is the cowards way out. But if you are going to, do it do it alone, don't take others with you. This is no different then a crazed lunatic walking in somewhere and murdering 10 people then killing himself. If Benoit was fighting that many demons then he should have sent his wife and child off somewhere and done it himself. There was no use in taking 2 innocent victims with him, esp. his 7 yr old son.

Yeah, I have to agree.

This is just sickening.

Especially after the Ohio tragedy.

I was hoping it was going to be some bizarre George Reeves type murder. How pathetic is it when you have to hope that something is "just" a homicide?

My question is how are the spin Drs at WWE going to turn this positive for next weeks show. Or will they just not talk about Benoit at all.

When I first heard about this, I just about knew what it was going to be. I just didn't know who was going to be ruled the murderer, if it be Chris as it stands now or Nancy. If true, Nancy and Daniel were dead before WWE even called him Sat about his missed house show. I just don't think I could walk around a house 2 days, knowing that my dead wife and son were in there.

I am literally sick right now; the words escape me to accurately describe how disheartened I am.
Ditto, BlazerJoe!!

Details of the deaths "are going to prove a little bizarre" when released to the public, Fayette County District Attorney Scott Ballard told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Autopsies were scheduled Tuesday by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

WWE.com has removed EVERYTHING related to Chris Benoit besides the main story entitled "The Tragedy Unfolds.."

All of the tributes have been removed, all of his merchandise has been removed from the WWE Shopzone.

I'd be willing to bet there's no 10 bell salute for Benoit next Monday.

The ECW and Smackdown tapings will proceed as planned this week.

I think we saw the only tributes that we're going to see last night.

I actually found a page, that says photos and video for Chris but you click on 1 and you either timeout or get a dead link.

If they wanted to toll the bell they should have done that this week. My bet is they talk as little as possible about Benoit next week or not at all.

Here you go...

Strangled is wife and smothered his son before hanging himself...

What kind of person could do that to his wife and 7 year old son... What a scumbag!

If she seen it then, she should have run. Unless brainwashed Ive never understood a woman staying with anyone thats violent. There is to much info and places to turn to actually stay. Either that or shot Benoit then, we would have never believed what was going on behind the scenes then. We would have just thought she was some crazy woman that snatched the life of Benoit out.

I may have forgotten, but I believe that it was Cena first.

Right on, this is as bizarre as it gets. He was respected by peers and fans....it just doesn't sound like the Chris Benoit we all know. At Wrestlemania in Detroit, I took some pictures of his 3 German Suplexes and the Head Butt from the top rope...it's freaky to look at them now and know that guy is gone now. I'm just coming to realize that I saw his last Wrestlemania...

In the last several years, we've seen OJ, Scott Peterson, the guy in Ohio, the lady who killed her kids in South Carolina, a similar incident in Southwest Virginia... Ugh...
From a sports standpoint and sports entertainment standpoint, the fans put up with it by wanting bigger, better, flashier spots pulled off. Wrestling fans aren't happy unless they see someone like Sabu or RVD flying off the top rope onto someone who lying on a table lit on fire with thumbtacks and barbed wire undnerneath it. It's no wonder that today's wrestlers are constantly eating pills and taking steroids to help rehab quicker. The red flags should have came WAAAY UP when The Rock and Trish Stratus basically just disassociated themselves entirely from professional wrestling. I'm not blaming us for Benoit's poor choices, but damn if I don't think some changes need to be made, and not just in wrestling, in all sports, and within the media.
Oh one more thing, if by some chance whacky FM DJ Phish or Colin Cowherd gets info from these messageboards, don't judge, not when people like Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison and Elvis Pressley are celebrated. They didn't kill anyone else but society sure as hell has done a great job glorifying them.

As facts emerged surrounding the case, all tributes to Chris Benoit were removed both on-air and on WWE.com.
If Raw is anything like ECW tonight, Benoit won't even be mentioned. I didn't hear Styles or Tazz utter his name once. Not even to compare him to any one. My thought is they will act as though he never existed for at least a year or 2. And keep as many clips off TV of his that they can.
Seeing the picture of 7-year-old Daniel Benoit, he was so cute. I just don't understand why a Dad would do this to his own son. The kid was the most innocent.
he will be remembered as a murderer. Thats it.
A woman tells News 1130 in Vancouver, B.C. that Chris Benoit's son Daniel had a condition called Fragile X syndrome. Wikipedia describes the symptoms:

Aside from intellectual disability (mental retardation), prominent characteristics of the syndrome include an elongated face, large or protruding ears, flat feet, larger testicals in men (macroorchidism), and low muscle tone. Behavioral characteristics may include stereotypic movements (e.g., hand-flapping) and atypical social development, particularly shyness and limited eye contact. Some individuals with the fragile X syndrome also meet the diagnostic criteria for autism. While full mutation males tend to present with severe intellectual disability, the symptomology of full mutation females runs the gamut of minimally affected to severe intellectual disability, which may explain why females are underdiagnosed relative to males.

The woman interviewed for the News 1130 story says her family was in contact with the Benoits, but they didn't want to go public with the disease and chose to keep things low profile. She added that families can be torn apart by the disease because it's very difficult to find help and support. She said, "You as a parent have to go out there and find what's available and it's not easy --they don't tell you."

Fragile X Article.

W.K. Analysis: This may explain why Daniel was taking growth hormone injections. It also may shed light onto why Chris didn't want someone else raising his son and made the fateful decision to kill him. As irrrational and twisted as it may sound, he may have felt he was saving his son from the double-blow of losing his parents through a murder-suicide and being subject to being raised by people who didn't understand or care for his condition.

Are you trying to rationalize his decision?

You may be right.

I just think we have to reevaluate what steroids and other drugs do to people.

There are plenty of people (like Czabe) who insist that nothing has been proven as to the harm steroids do.

But, with Pillman, Hennig, Eddie, and now Benoit...isn't that more than coincidence?

Still not a valid reason to kill a 7 y/o -- that's like saying*, "God, YOU can't find someone to care for my son so I'm gonna take his life."

As many folks out there who are savvy to Fragile X and Autism, there's SOMEBODY out there who could have stepped in and provided for the boy.

I say to that, no one has the right to murder another human. If Chris didn't want to face the inviable task of trying to raise him. I don't condone it, but kill yourself. And let others around him that want to provide for him do so.

More Details: Nancy was found with her hands and feet bound. And there was 3 new bibles laying next to each of them. This was well thought out and premeditated. Hell is to good of a place for Benoit.
