Full Version: OT: Big East Team looking at season tix sales record of 6,000 plus

Here's what the publisher of UC's rivals.com website found out about 2007 UC season tix sales. (Had no clue that their season tix sales were SOOOOO low! 6,500 season tix would be a SALES RECORD?)

http://cincinnati.rivals.com/showmsg.asp...43&style=2

PS. I wish when UCF's Football Program is 126 plus years old like Cinci..that UCF could sell more than 6,500 season tix.
I wouldn't be surprised if their basketball season tix numbers exceeded their football season tix.

Cincinnati has always had trouble with football attendance. Maybe the Bearcats can put on a winning streak that demands national attention. If so, they may be able to get some support.

They have hired a good coach. Hopefully, he will increase the following.

cincy was a bb addition that went on the fb side of the deal.
Cincinnati football has never really been relevant, but times are changing!
That is unreal how low their season ticket count is. There are a bunch of sunbelt schools with better numbers and I'm not trying to talk smack.
Wow, you guys are some serious losers some of you Central Florida fans are. With Knightlight at the top of the list. Try and having a winning season friend.

Agreed. These ticket sales (which is actually over 10,000 now counting patrons, teams, staff, etc), will actually be around 15,000 before the season start. That means UC's attendance SHOULD be about 30,000 per game which is DAMN good. The last I checked Sun Belt teams didn't have season tickets sold like that and Sun Belt teams didn't average over 20,000 per game and, hopefully, around 30,000 now. Heck, some Sun Belt teams averaged 6,500 per game last year most likely.

But there is a reason no one likes the Central Florida fans. Knightlight and others are upset that Cincinnati and USF fans hate UCF. And went good reason. This thread will be moved to the Smack Board because it's ridiculous. But par for the course as far as their concerned. Now lets see if UCF can win 4 games this year. I'm betting they don't. Because they have a crappy football program. But hey, if UCF fans want to be asses I can play that game to. See you on the Big East board friends.

Why? For posting factual information from the UC publisher of their own rivals.com website?01-wingedeagle

Wow!!! Never knew THAT could get one in trouble for releasing sales info about a BCS football program that is 126 years old.

My bad.

Ad the fact that CUSA programs such as Marshall, ECU, and UCF have already set new season tix sales records...that dwarf what UC has done.

I think you could easily see 6 to 8,000 Herd fans when we play at Cincy on Sept 22nd. Alot of people I know are skipping the Miami FL game to make the shorter trip to Cincinnati.

now he is counting tickets to the staff, visiting fans, etc...Dude you only sold 6,000 season tickets last year and you have 6,000 season tickets sold this year. You want to talk about UCF, but we have sold over 22K season tickets and that is not counting the students, vistors, etc. We only have 6,000 tickets total that are available to purchase.

UCF has a lot of potential and a great new stadium going up but you'll never build what you're looking for on schadenfreude.

CatsClaw,

If you don't want people posting factual information, then maybe sell more than 6 friggin thousand tickets. That's just pitiful. No amount of lame smack you run about UCF will change the fact that we have nearly 4x the amount of season tickets sold as Cincy.

Cry somewhere else.
This is not 6000 tickets it is 6000 season ticket holders. That means that 6000 people will buy anywhere between 2 to 6 tickets. Do the math that equals around 20 to 21,000 fans average per game. About 2,000 students show up each game. That is where UC needs to work. Get the students out.

That's Stupid!!

Every season ticket is a ticket holder. You have sold 6,000 season tickets genius.

The problem for UC and the MAC is Ohio State. When students jump off the Ohio State bandwagon and back to their own schools that's when the attendance will pick up. MAC set some attendance records when Cooper was at Ohio State.

No doubt that happens (a lot)...and USF and UCF have the exact same problem with many of their current students still supporting FSU and Florida (not such much Miami), but more and more at both schools, their current students are supporting THEIR programs much more so than in the past...and now that UCF will finally begin to play ON-CAMPUS this fall...I think even MORE UCF students will get behind THEIR University...however...just like at UC...some students will ALWAYS support UF, FSU or Ohio State first and foremost...but you try and focus on those that want to support THEIR University first.

I wouldn't bother with Math right now...I would focus on reading comprehension!

(From article in first post):

Total Sales for 2006 were 6,464 SOLD with another 3,600 attributed to teams, band, ISP corporate patrons, staff, etc... for a total of 10,064 – approximately.

Total Sales for 2005 were 6,146 SOLD with another 3,600 attributed to teams, band, ISP corporate patrons, staff, etc... for a total of 9,746 – approximately.

As of June 18, 2007 UC has 6,280 SOLD season tickets, which 97% of our 2006 sales total and 102% of our sales two years ago.

I just read where the Bearcats lost a starting WR and your best DL guy. Sounds like Kelly is cleaning house in Cincy. He's got a great O scheme.
They're Central Florida fans how much credibility do they actually have? South Florida is their big brother, they obsess over them and are jealous that USF is winning, is in a BCS conference, and is having more success them then.

I'm looking forward to this game - it should be a good one. Perhaps this could lead to some future games as it would be a good regional series.

UC's football attendance woes have been well documented and analyzed and over-analyzed (especially on internet message boards).

I appreciate ECU fan Chess' comments and I hope that with Kelly bringing in a exciting offensive scheme it will help increase attendance.

Little off subject, I drove with a friend to Michigan back in May. We had some time and from driving thru Cincy a couple of times always thought it was interesting. We took the time and road around downtown on a Sunday afternoon. It is a unqiuely beautiful city.

Indeed. I had a six week work assignment in the suburb of Hamilton a few years ago. The airport is across the river near Covington, KY. Cincy has an INCREDIBLE skyline at night. Not a world traveler here I'll admit, but the nicest I've ever seen. There's also a classy fountains downtown.

I do like the logistics of UC's athletic facilities. Really nice baseball stadium they've built. I'll be surprised if the Bearcats aren't one of the top diamond programs in the Big East soon.

Louisville opened up a new stadium 2 years ago...and this of course, they made it to the College World Series.

Cinci, over the last few years has put TONS of $$$$ into MANY of their Athletic Facililities (including non-revenue sports) and their athletic quadrant area is very impressive.

Its now up to UC's Alumni base and the casual football fan of KY/Ohio to finally step up to the plate and support UC Football (aka buy season tix), especially since the school/athletic dept has done their thing (i.e. upgraded almost all of their facilities).

There are some Knight Fans who probably are set that USF got into the BE, however, being in a BCS does not guarantee success. Florida already had 3 BCS schools before USF got invited into the BE. The BCS label may help Cincy fight off the Ohio MAC programs for top recruits in the Ohio area. USF's BCS label have not stopped the top recruits in Florida from going to the Big 3, this past recruiting season USF was ranked 1 or 2 spots ahead of UCF in recruiting.

Btw, BCS have guaranteed Cincy any success in football attendence. When a Cincy game was on a TV last year, there were more Buckeyes' fans than Cincy in the stands.

If I recalled correctly, it was a Cincy home on a Friday Night. There were empty seats and alot of fans wearing Buckeyes' gear.

Maybe it was last year's USF at Cinci game...believe it was a Friday or Sunday night game on TV...and not many folks bothered to show up:

Seriously - I have missed very few games and while many were not well attended, I have never seen very many people there wearing OSU clothing.

And if they are truly OSU fans but still want to come to a UC game, I don't have a problem with it. The more the merrier!

And each year our budget and our season ticket sales and our facilities keep growing and growning.

UCF is just withering away... 03-lmfao:lmfao:03-lmfao

Just to update you KnightLight and his Cincinnati trashing friends, Cincinnati finished with about 12,000 season tickets sold and an attendance average of over 30,000 per game. Oh, and Cincinnati is ranked, something else UCF can shoot for by the time they're 126 years old! Sucks for the people who trashed Cincinnati in this thread but Cincinnati has stepped up to the next level both on the field, facilities wise, athletics wise, conference wise and attendance wise.

I just read through the thread and it amazes me how hypocritical you are in talking about class. If you spent anytime on this board or rivals you would find UCF to have someof the classiest fans in the NCAA. By your retorts and the fact you are posting this months after this thread was ended, I think Bearcat fans would be embarassed. This mine is bigger than yours stuff is childish. Perhaps if Cinci and UCF ever meet on the field the issues can be settled. To be taking offense and dishing offenses over the topic of fan attendance is silly. It appears the Bearcats have put more butts in the seats this year which is a positive for your program. Keep it up. UCF fans will continue doing their part to gain the respect of the other schools in division I by winning first and most importantly, doing with class.

I noticed KnightLight disappeared after Cincinnati's season ticket sales went up, our attendance went up and our team traveled well to their bowl game.

LOL!!! A BCS Team reached 10,000 plus in season tix sales...and you actually think that is GOOD?01-wingedeagle

Thanks for digging up the memories of such an old thread...as it made me laugh again.

PS. As I have stated MANY TIMES in other posts...Cinci has almost always of late (say last 4 plus years) put a good product ON the field...but their alumni, city, students, etc...still wouldn't support them...and that is sad.

Glad that some of them are paying attention to the PRODUCT on the field (which has been good).

Welcome to Div I-A Football!

I love KnightLight's obsession with Cincinnati. Cincinnati, despite being in a pro town, is on pace to have around 20,000 season tickets sold, selling out football, have a Top 25 program, 100 million dollar facilities upgrade in a Big Six conference, getting national exposure (ESPNU showing Cincinnati's spring practices), etc., and you're trying to downplay us? Amazing. You're begging to play USF and get into our conference, and you're trying to talk down to us. I love it. Cincinnati is just fine thank you. We don't need near wins to brag about, we actually do have Top 25 wins and Top 25 rankings. We also have good attendance and sellouts. And we don't need Texas and USF to boost our attendance either.
