We owe Leo for much of what ECU is today. In my humble opinion no other person in ECU's history has done as much for ECU institutionally, academically, and athletically as did Leo. He planted the seed to move ECU into the future. And yet no where on campus is there a monument to this great and visionary man.

I want you ECU posters input on an idea that I think is long overdue. I want to see a bronze statue of Leo Jenkins on the campus of ECU. In fact I think this statue should be replicated three times. One of them I would like to see placed on the mall near the fountain of main campus. The second I would like to see placed in the mall outside of Ward, and the third I would like to see placed on the medical campus between the Brody School of Medicine and the new Allied Health building. Three statues in three locations to honor the man who guided us to University status, ushered in the modern era of ECU athletics, and who fought for a medical school for the people of eastern NC.

I can't think of a better time than during our centennial celebration to honor and remember this great man.

Would you be willing to make a special donation to ECU to see this happen?

Thoughts and discuss.
