Full Version: So UGA, you think 20,000 at your spring game was impressive?

How about you, Florida, with your attendance of 47,000? Well, just take a look across the SEC at Alabama, where Nick Saban & Co. drew a sellout -- that's right, a sellout. For a spring game. 92,138, plus standing room only tickets, and hundreds more had to be turned away from the gates.
Yeah I saw that this morning that is insane.
What else is there to do in Alabama? ;-)
Ohio State had 75,000 show up, and from what I was told could have had more but they didn't want to open up the south stands of Ohio Stadium (holds 105,000+ total).
they are all excited to see thier new savior win and lose the same game. if he loses to auburn this year, half of those same 92K+ will call it a bust. roll turds

Actually, I was going to say that having 92,000 plus at a spring game is VERY impressive. Dang, I wish we could get that much for our spring game!! 03-hissyfit I do know one thing though: Alabama fans LOVE their football team. But this surprised me a lot, and I think Alabama's football passion might be up there with South Carolina's now (SC's Gamecocks have packed out Williams-Brice for some pretty bad football teams. This is passion).

Don't remind me. I live in Columbus, and get sick and tired of all the Buckeye talk.

and Ohio State charged for their tickets. Only $5 a piece, but that's $375,000 for the school
Ohio State doesn't do ANYTHING for free. They don't have to, the know that there are enough people willing to pay any price they ask. They probably could get away with $20 seats to the spring game if they wanted, and still have 75,000 people there.
All ticket sales and concession sales went to charity. They charged, but that money will not see the athletic department's budget.

I'm no big OSU fan, I'm a Cincinnati fan, I was just pointing out what was told to me by friends who attended the game.
That's good for OSU, but I still think they could charge more if they wanted. The demand is just that high.

I actually enjoy watching OSU play and root for them, but I can't stand how rabid some of the fans are, and how much OSU is force fed to the public by the local media. Then again, it's not like Columbus has any other sports to report on. The Blue Jackets have been out of the playoff picture since October 20th.
