I changed from Linspire to Mepis, I have both Frostwire and Limewire installed. I can't get connected with either. I have checked some forums and it seems a lot of people are having the same problem. Any suggestions how to solve this problem?

Well, that problem is solved. The firewall was set to allow them. But it was blocking them anyway. I disabled the firewall and they worked. I then went back and enabled the firewall and they still work. I'm up and running.
