What's sad is these kids have lost so much since this whole thing began, I hope that Nifong is made to pay for what he did.

What should happen to the (alright I'm convicted by my own conscience) that brought those charges against the 3 men in the first place?

a Duke Professor still thinks the players are guilty!?!?!?
further proof college professors are idiots and could never make it in the real world.
Quote:But for some at Duke, the possibility of dropped charges left as many questions as answers -- and a feeling that the full truth of what happened that night in the house on North Buchanan Boulevard may never be known, in part because the investigation was mishandled.
"Since we haven't gone through a normal legal process, we don't know what really happened," said Duke biology professor Sheryl Broverman. "The fact the charges were dropped doesn't mean nothing happened. It just means information wasn't collected appropriately enough to go forward."
Broverman said she couldn't say one way or the other whether the players sexually assaulted the exotic dancer -- and that the investigation did little to clarify that. "For me, it just means we'll never know," she said.

Nice generalization.
Good to see that this is ending for the players. Nifong ought to get his well deserved consequences. The accuser should be prosecuted for false testimony. It'd be nice to see a civil suit brought as well.

Maybe the Duke lacrosse team, red-blooded high-spirited young men that they are, will celebrate the end of this ordeal with a nice stripper party. Their parents must be very proud of them for their success in this very educational project.

I doubt it. Are you bitter because they didn't get railroaded? Last I checked hiring strippers was still legal in this country. What am I talking about, I've never looked into hiring a stripper. Maybe it is illegal.

the NY Times and every other liberal paper convicted them right off, I think the TImes said they "reviewed the evidence" and it was clear they were "guilty" last year. Oprah was all over them, and of course Sharpton and Jackson and the black panthers were marching.

Wow, so much for "innocent unless proven guilty." And nice role of 'skeptic', "We'll just never know."
I guess we'll just never know how often Broverman fakes scientific results.
I guess we'll just never know how much Broverman cheated to get her degrees.
I guess we'll just never know how often Broverman molests her kids.
So even though evidence, biological evidence no less, strongly indicated that no Duke players were involved, Broverman just says, "We'll just never know." And folks keep insisting that those who teach biology are "scientists"...

This just goes to show that this is a case of a guy who made a mistake, and he knew it was a mistake. The fact that he is acknowledging it and apologizing seems to show that he is sincere.

For kicking them out?
Maybe.
Colleges have purposely made themselves institutions that go beyond supplying a service for pay, they institute rules and actions that go beyond performance in the classroom. Additionally, they've tried to position themselves above the free market (that is, creating a "demand" for college graduates so that they can provide the "supply"). Thus if they want to take such a prominent role in people's lives, then yes, they should suffer severe consequences when they mess up.

kicking them out, canceling the Lacrosse season and getting rid of the nationally ranked team altogether. The 88 professors who all said the guys were guilty......it was all one big witch hunt that fit perfectly into their worldview, so in groupthink land it had to be true.
I suppose they may have a right to be stupid, disgraceful fools but their are alot of people at Duke, the DA's office and the national media with alot of Crow to eat. And there are more than just 3 victims here, all the players on the lacrosse team for one, I heard many tried to transfer to other programs like Syracuse and they wouldn't take them....

the thug last year
Quote:The Rev. Jesse Jackson said Saturday his Rainbow/Push Coalition will pay the college tuition of a woman who told police she was raped by members of Duke University's men's lacrosse team while working as a stripper -- no matter the outcome of the case.
"I can't wait ... to talk with her and have prayer with her, because our organization is committed, when she's physically and emotionally able ... to provide for her the scholarship money to finish school so she will never ... again have to stoop that low to survive," he said from Chicago in a telephone interview with The Associated Press.
When asked, the civil rights leader also said his group will pay for the woman's tuition even if her report proves false. ...
I think the media needs to be all over Jackson asking him if this is still the case. I beleive jackson is financed in part by US Taxpayers also....

Good points.
Although it shouldn't be forgotten that many of those players made stupid decisions. That doesn't justify any of the responses they received (especially from the 88 profs, who should seriously be considered for suspension) but it is a reminder that no man is an island, and being dumb can carry consequences.

Let's see - her research interests from her website are:
Quote:Research Interests: science literacy for non-majors; science education reform; the interaction of gender, education and global health
And her 'recent publications' list contains one paper in the last 10 years - and it's not even a scientific publication.
It looks like she's abandoned doing actual science long ago - it's a good thing, too, as evidently she's completely forgotten even basic biological principles.
