considering i got a c- in high school physics, yea i think so.
Well, not according to Mr. Stephen Hawking. You've heard of him haven't you?
From page 59 of Science & Christianity by Henry F. Schaefer:
Stephen Hawking has made some eminently sensible sttements on the relationship between science and Christianity. For example, "It is difficult to discuss the beginning of the universe without mentioning the concept of God. My work on the origin of the universe is on the borderline between science and religion, but I try to stay on the scientific side of the border. It is quite possible that God acts in ways that cannot be described by scientific laws." When asked by a reporter whether he believed that science and Christianity were competing worldveiws, Hawking replied cleverely, "Then Newton would not have discovered the law of gravity." Dr. Hawking is well aware that Newton had strong religious convictions.
i thought you were the one who refuses to aknowledge hawking and einstein
Oh no, I'm not anti Einstein at all. But, I did get weary of hearing the name Stephen Hawking. In fact I refered to him on another board as having to listen to the ramblings of somebody who sounded like they had a stick up their rear end. You never hear a word about Hawking's spiritual side or his belief in God. But no, I'm not a big fan of Hawking, and I have very little sympathy for handicapped people--sorry I just don't.
But why should that matter to you? Stephen Hawking is "the man" when it comes to astrophysics, etc. Even he implies that we may have to defer to the Biblical account of creation. Isn't that what you hear him saying in that passage I quoted from the book?
