I really dont think they have much of a choice, they were playing with a player who wasnt eligible. I guess this thing is far from a done deal but even if they were not aware of his situation with the agent they still have to be punished.

why would reggie bush care? he got gifts and now he's got his money and a great rookie season. Hell, i would've taken the gifts.

That is a valid point swoosh, but he may end up losing his Heisman, which is something I doubt he wants to give up.

You can't have a more flagrant violation of the rules. Bush was a paid player (highly paid at that) at least all of his last year in college and maybe years before that. Oklahoma dismissed their QB (Rhett Bomar) because he was overpaid at a auto dealer and Bush just walks? I think the NCAA has lost the will to stand up to the big money that controls college football now. People will sue them like crazy if they make a move against the universities, etc. I remember whent he NCAA tried to raise academic standards and got sued by John Thompson and the hothead basketball coach at Temple. I'm tring to think, oh yeah, Chaney, what's his first name? So, the NCAA gets attacked from everyone. They're tired of fighting this battle alone. The powers that be (that they are fighting) have gotten even more powerful.

But, if in fact the NCAA does nothing, you can be sure that college football as we have known it in the past is over. It is now semi-pro football that just happens to be on college campuses--kind of like college basketball has become.

selective outrage? I think what happened was very wrong. USC should be punished for breaking the rules. Just because i didn't voice my displeasure doesn't mean i think what they did should go unpunished. So maybe you should keep your mouth shut and stop being a complete douche.

when do i ever castigate the athletes for taking the gifts? Never. I have a problem with the schools who allow that to go on. Learn the difference. You think you can handle that? I never had a problem with ed cota getting a beautiful new SUV, i had problem with the UNC for allowing it to go on. I never had a problem with corey maggette taking whatever K gave in, i had a problem with K. You think you got it now?

BTW, i'd be a sophmore in college if i was going to school. I'm taking a year off to work.

To say that the athlete isn't to share in the blame is ridiculous. That's like you being involved indirectly in a bank robbery that nets you $100,000 and you say it's the cop's fault for allowing it to happen.
