Rex played very well. I sure didnt see it coming.
I think yall are gonna have your hands full with the Saints though.

Brees has been surprisingly non-productive the past 4-5 games.
If you can believe it...I had him as my back up to Peyton Manning in my fantasy league. Won the league, used him twice. Indy's by week (Brees got me 25 points) and the game he hit for 5 TDs (got me 45 points that one!).
But after that game, he kind of limped home. I was impressed with the Bears D when it really mattered late in the game today. Grossman has his confidence back, everyone should be healthy, it's at home. I gotta like their chances...

Actually, more like a cold wind in his face. This ain't Kansas...er...Super Down anymore. ;-)

Whatever the outcome...Brees has gotta be happy after seeing his proteje go down in round 1 to NE a few hours ago... ;-)

Well really with my post I was thinking more about the McAllister/Bush combo than Brees and the receivers. I really wasnt all that impressed with the Bears D today, Shaun Alexander was getting the job done. I think there is going to be a decent amount of scoring in next weeks game. If the Saints can generate a pass rush yall might be in trouble, Grossman didnt have a clue as to what to do when he was pressured.
01-15-2007, 12:12 AM
That's the secret, but that's also a big IF.
If Grossman hits his first few, that's generally how the rest of his game goes. Rattle him early, and it's then all on the Bears defense...

i think the NFL is sending a pretty shi**y message by letting tank johnson and ricky manning play in the SB.

so, you think they should be allowed to play? does anyone have morals anymore?

Since when is the NFL supposed to make moral judgements?

shouldn't criminals be suspended? Isn't that just common sense? if you commit a crime, you should be punished. seems pretty simple to me.

they made their statement back when Ray Lewis and Jamaal Lewis had their problems.

wasn't ray lewis acquitted? and just because they made their statement, it doesn't mean you shouldn't be appalled. I just have a problem understanding why people like this should be allowed to play. It doesn't make any sense. Hell, i think Michael Strahan should be suspended for cheating on his wife, but unfortunately that's not a crime.
01-22-2007, 11:54 PM
Wow you are a freak, Strahan got butt raped in court, I think that is punishment enough.
Strahan is a ****** and cheated on his wife with a man. Does that change anything?

are you an idiot? the courts didn't make a decision. She got exactly what was in the prenup. they signed a prenup in 1999 and in it, she was entitled to at least 50% of the marital assets and 20% of his income each year.
no it wouldn't change anything. if he cheated on his wife with a goat, i'd still say he should be in jail.

i'm more appalled at the perception of athletes in different sports for doing the same crimes (i.e. Baseball players with steriods/drugs compared to football players) The stigma should be the same, the suspensions should be the same, etc.
We have Merriman from SD, violates NFL substance abuse rule, suspended 4 games. Comes back, no one really says anything, they cheer him on like nothing happened, was even mentioned on making the Pro Bowl (can't remember if he did or not)
Now we have Rafy Palmeiro, does a similar crime, gets suspended, but now he will forever be tarnished. EVEN WITH the Pointing and denial, how much worse is it than Merriman? Hell We don't even know if McGwire or Bonds used for sure but it is obvious that the people think so, and they will be regarded the same way Palmeiro is.

Ok, the difference is Palmerio went in front of Congress, pointed his finger and said I DID NOT TAKE STEROIDS. He was very vehement about it. A few months later he was busted for steroids.
01-23-2007, 05:30 PM
doesn't merriman still deny it?
01-23-2007, 05:38 PM
Merriman says it was in a supplement, which isnt exactly the same as going in front of congress and saying emphatically that you have never taken steroids.

Terpy Wrote:Merriman says it was in a supplement, which isnt exactly the same as going in front of congress and saying emphatically that you have never taken steroids.
true. but you have to see what hoosier's saying. The announcers in the Chargers playoff game were speaking of merriman with an amazing note of reverence in their voices. Even players in other sports who don't have a positive test, don't get that kind of respect. After all this, i still think what Brett Myers did was a lot worse than what merriman did.
01-23-2007, 05:59 PM
Merriman led the NFL with 17 sacks but he played 4 fewer games than everyone else, it was an incredible year. Merriman got plenty of bad press for the steroid suspension. NFL defensive MVP Jason Taylor called him out on it and that got a lot of press. New Orleans defensive tackle Holis Thomas was also suspended for 4 games for a steroid violation, and he got virtually no press.

that jason taylor thing barely got any press. the media talked about it for a week and then it died.
01-23-2007, 08:15 PM
Wow if a week is barely any press how long do they have to talk about something for it to be considered a lot of press?
Nobody talks about anything longer than a week.

it wasn't even a week. more like a few days. if merriman were a baseball player, this story would continue for months.

I was born in Chicago! I guess my loyalty would like with the Bears even though they beat my Seahawks.

It is about team my Bears made the superbowl. I knew this day would come before I die, now I am just happy it came so soon.

I'm about to add another Bears Super Bowl to my video collection
I've got both playoff games and the SB from the 85-86 season in my library.

The Bears played very well against the Saints, in fact they played a hell of a lot better than I had predicted. I gave the Saints my vote to win that game but they didn't show up like I had guessed they would. The Bears are gonna have to play a great game to keep up with the Colts though. Rex is going to have to have another good game or the Bears have no chance. Keep the ball on the ground and you take away the chance that Rex screws his team over. What's the word on Mannings thumb though? If he doesn't play to his fullest ability then the Colts also may have some problems. Although the Colts have a little room to make mistakes since they've got such a high powered offense.
