And McGwire unsurprisingly does not.

Thoughts?
part of would've voted for mcgwire the other part wouldn't and that's without including any steroid allegations. i've seen good arguments on why he deserves it and good ones on why he doesn't.
He doesnt.
without roids, mcgurie is not a first ballot

show me a positive test.

would you guys vote for clemens?
Dude went in front of Congress and said Im not here to talk about the past. If he didnt have anything to hide then why was he hiding it?
Terpy Wrote:Dude went in front of Congress and said Im not here to talk about the past. If he didnt have anything to hide then why was he hiding it?
Agreed. If McGwire had come out and strongly denied ever using steroids before Congress, he may not have gotten in yesterday but he would have been a whole lot closer. But he pretty much killed his chances with his pitiful display in front of Congress.

If I were a voter, I couldn't vote McGwire in now. If the facts come out that show McGwire never used 'roids, I'd vote him in. But you can't vote someone out of the Hall, and if he was found guilty you don't want someone in the Hall who shouldn't be there.

I think a lot of people accuse Clemens of doing 'roids because they just don't like him. I'm not saying he did or didn't take them, because I don't know, but there are a lot of guys I'd be more suspicious of than Clemens.
There are two other players with HOF worthy numbers who were accused of cheating and withheld from the HOF. Unless either of those players get in, I see no reason to put McGuire, Bonds, Palmerio, Sosa or any other player ACCUSED of using steroids in the Hall. For me it is that simple.

i would vote for clemens and bonds. i dont think mccguire that great

i disagree. i would never tell them anything, if i wasn't obligated to. show me a court order, then i'll start talking. just because they're gov't, doesn't mean you have anything to prove.

umm, what? hardly anybody ever accuses clemens, and it's because the media loves him. he's played them like a fiddle. Where did you get that idea?

nothing like accusations.
Clemens was definitely juicing too, but you are right, he will probably get in. He was skinny early in his career too, the only difference is Bonds and McGuire got buff and he got fat.

Dude, pay attention. People bring up Clemens' name all the time. You just did.

fat? you think clemens is fat? fat people don't put up numbers like that.

people hardly ever bring his name up. and the few that do, have only started doing it in the last year.

Well, when you consider the steroids issue really came to a head in the last year, I'd say anyone accused in that time-frame has been under tremendous fire from fans and media. Clemens included.

tremendous? IMO, only mcgwire, bonds and palmeiro have been under tremendous fire.

Yes, he is fat, we have already discussed this.

no he isn't, and i know we have. he's in amazing shape.
Yeah, him and Jim Belushi and Kevin James. lmfao lmfao lmfao
Terpy Wrote:Yeah, him and Jim Belushi and Kevin James. lmfao lmfao lmfao

i still can't believe you think clemens is fat. i don't think an out of shape pitcher can put up those numbers.
Its called steroids.
flyingswoosh Wrote:tremendous? IMO, only mcgwire, bonds and palmeiro have been under tremendous fire.
Well, obviously there are degrees and Clemens hasn't gotten as much heat as those players, but his name has been involved in the controversy. Remember this?

Yeah and there was the whole conspiracy theory that he didnt start playing until late last season because his fat ass was secretly suspended for steroids.

yeah, i remember, but that article didn't get a lot of publicity. it was kinda shocking for a week and then it died.
Terpy Wrote:Yeah and there was the whole conspiracy theory that he didnt start playing until late last season because his fat ass was secretly suspended for steroids.

huh? i swear that i never heard that rumor.
01-wingedeagle
Terpy Wrote:01-wingedeagle

did anyone else hear it?
I never heard that either, all I heard here in Houston is that he just waited till almost halfway through the season to decide to come back. If he came back this year he would most likely do the same thing again.
You guys live in caves.
what's baseballistic? that's another thing i've never heard of.
who cares? Its just the first site that was on google. Ill give you more.
There was even an article in SI about it but you have to be a subscriber to read it.

I heard about it. Kind of a lame conspiracy. Why wouldn't MLB have released his name if he had been suspended? They did with everyone else.
Terpy Wrote:There was even an article in SI about it but you have to be a subscriber to read it.

that, i can't believe. i mean, i go to espn.com and mlb.com literally everyday, and i never heard that rumor. I also read the baseball writers in the NY post and they never mentioned it either. There's also the fact that the rumor doesn't make any sense at all.
Terpy Wrote:There was even an article in SI about it but you have to be a subscriber to read it.
Can you post the link? I'm a subscriber.
Ok, I actually found an article on SI.com that you dont have to be a subscriber to to read it.

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/wr...index.html
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/preview...r0327%252F

That is the other article. Now I believe, the main purpose of this article is to disprove the conspiracy theory, but I dont know for sure since I cant read it.

Either way thats not my point. Im just saying that there was a rumor. I think it is feasible, but not at all likely to be true.
