The Herd...
What two songs by two different groups that include Mike McCready share the same music but have different lyrics?
Mike McCready? Is this a trick question or did you mean Ament and Gossard?
dynovinyl Wrote:Mike McCready? Is this a trick question or did you mean Ament and Gossard?
(Jeff)Ament and (Stone)Gossard would be Pearl Jam... and I want to say, if I remember my Grunge History correctly, that they were in Mudhoney before then...or at least affiliated with them.
If it's the songs I'm thinking of it's "Times of Trouble" by Temple of the Dog and "Footsteps" by Pearl Jam, which was part of mamasan trilogy.

I thoguht Temple of the Dog featured dual lead singers... Eddie Vedder and Chris Cornell. And was basically Pearl Jam + Sound Garden + some other Seattle area talent. Man 1990-1995 was a LONG time ago. lmfao

Yeah you are right. I f'ed up my own question....

Temple of the Dog was created as a Tribute to Mother Love Bone lead singer Andrew Wood after his passing. Former MLB members Stone Gossard and Jeff Ament joined Matt Cameron and Chris Cornell of Sound Garden to put together the tribute. At the same time, Gossard and Ament were putting together Pearl Jam..hence appearances by other PJ members, including Eddie Vedder, who joined them in Seattle in the middle of making the TOD record. Supposedly, the recording of Hunger Strike is the first time many of them heard Ed sing live. Chris Cornell tells a story about how powerful a moment it was when he first heard Ed's voice. I believe only Cornell was going to sing on the record originally, but I could be wrong about that.

Yeah that is correct. Ed was just there hanging out and heard Chris singing and just kind of interjected his take on it and they liked it so much they added it.
How about a make-up question. What was the first album released by the Dreamworks (i.e. David Geffen, Steven Spielberg, Jeffery Katzenberg) label?

So, was Frampton in a band named The Herd, because that's not who I was thinking of.

Yeah, that is where he initally became famous. I didn't even wait to see if I was right, because I didn't know he was in any other band. Who were you thinking of?
Ohh yeah now the name Mother Love Bone does come to mind.

Humble Pie.
Sweet. I missed The Herd somehow. Here's an album cover with a young Frampton.
I thought he was pretty young during his stint with Humble Pie, so I didn't think there was time for another band.

Wow, I forgot all about Humble Pie.
It's too funny that both of our questions haven't worked out too well so far.

Alright, let's try this one: Name the original singer for AC/DC.
Hint: it's not Bon Scott.
