Herb Sendek and the NCSU basketball program received a verbal commitment from Engin Atsur, a 6-foot-3 wing player from Turkey.
Atsur's game has been compared to that of current State standout Ilian Evtimov.
He also took unofficial visits to State, Clemson, Siena, Georgia Tech and Texas. But decided on State.
"We saw the N.C. State academics and its basketball program as a blend that was so convincing," the father said. "What Herb Sendek said to us was real.
Now that Atsur had committed it leaves State with one scholarship to give for the class of 2003.
They are heavily pursuing Mustafa Shakur.
