I'm fine with trimming the pork out of bills, but I'd like to see an end to the biggest pork project of all, the welfare program.
Robert Byrd? The FATHER of pork?
Yeah, I'll believe it when I see it.

Exactly, this is the guy that tried to pave half of WV with billions in highway funding and refused to shut down National Guard units in his state that the military begged to get rid of.
I am all for fiscal discipline and I hope a Democrat controlled Congress can acheive that goal. I just have a few doubts when Robert Byrd is the spokesperson of this movement. Kind of like having O.J. give a class on spousal abuse.

Not sure what you are trying to imply, but I don't think that's appropriate here.

I think he was implying that having Byrd (one of the biggest porkers in the history of the Senate) lead the charge of cutting pork is like OJ (who most believe killed his wife) teaching a class on how to treat your spouse.
Not sure why that would be inappropriate, especially given the fact that a thread that questioned what was wrong with calling a black person the n* word was allowed to stand.

Whoa, my bad. I thought he was referring to OwlJacket. My mistake. I interpreted that as an attack on a member not even involved with this conversation. Imagine my confusion. Getting back to your regularly scheduled thread.

lmfao
Sign #765 that one may have spent too much time on a message board. ;-)
Quote:Such projects have exploded in number under GOP control of Congress over the last 12 years and at the same time have spawned a boom on Washington's K Street lobbying corridor, where consultants earn big fees by helping outsiders navigate the system.
This is the reason the Republican majority only lasted 12 years. Too much do as I say not do as I do from the right. I for one am a proud D when you can end these pork barrel politics. We ALL should applaud this development. Now if they would only give the president the line-item veto.

lmfao lmfao lmfao
I thought that BR was letting his new Mod powers go to his head....
Damn BR, for a minute I thought you were about to lecture us on the fact that OJ was innocent and was set up by "the man". lmfao
Totally threw me for a loop.

What, pork? Then how did the Dims stay in power for the 50 previously? Your argument doesn't hold water....unless you mean that Republicans, in general, are more fiscally responsible and will vote out their elected officials that participate in activities that are historically Democrat.
Pork Barrel projects exploded the last 12 years. Sorry, funny when facts get in the way of a good stereotype huh.
I never heard of K street until DeLay and his gang showed me the light. Reb, most Republicans were sickened with the spending and complained Republicans have lost their way. When you keep a vote over three hours long and twist arms til you have the number to pass a reform for the pharmaceuticals back pocket you have a problem. Take off the red rose shaded glasses and call a spade a spade.

You must not remember the "Great Society", Jimmy Carter, the programs during the depression and Roosevelt.
Sorry, even in the last 12 years, Democrats were always involved. Don't sit there and act like Republicans are the ones doing this. How many buildings in West Virginia are NOT named after Byrd?

Are you saying that he wasn't?

Did you mean the
only one's doing this? If not you are seriously delusional and need medication immediately.

Yes D's do it too. But now in the present they are trying to combat the last 12 years of Republican controlled orgasmic spending! Now, if the D's become inebriated with power like the drunkards they just kicked out. I'll be the 1st with the boot.

I worked on K street and believe me it was alive and booming during the Clinton years. As long as the Federal Govt has over $3Trillion to spend every year you will have K street doing its thing. I knew the Republicans were going to lose the Congress when I heard from friends that K street was hiring Democrats in record numbers 9 months before the election.
If Democrats want to make a statement then I would like to seem them eliminate all meals with lobbyist, all political junkets and fact finding trips and have a Congressional website that is updated every day showing which lobbyist met with which politician, how much they donated to xyz politician and what bills xyz politician voted on dealing with that lobbyist.
We should make the whole system 100% transparent. The politicians don't want to do this because they know the current system favors the incumbents.
It's our country and we need to take it back. When D's start abusing the system throw the bums out. For whatever reason though the conservatively slanted media will focus on D's more than they do R's and police them better. It's disgusting how they treat D's vs. R's. that's what you get with corporate media though.
it's true Reb. Take those red shaded glasses off. The corporate media had an interest in keeping R's in power, but the people this time have seen the light. Let's hope that light doesn't flicker.

BWAHAHAHA! I don't if I should post a rebuttal because I don't know if you're serious. Surely, you jest.
