Not suprising. I dont know how much Geek squad folks make but it cant be all that much. It is such a dishonest business, computer repairs, as cheap as you can get a computer nowdays its always easier and almost cheaper to get a new computer.

Great video. I can see how some of these small time guys would be tempted day in and day out to screw people though. Not that it's even close to being acceptable, but it's still not shocking. Buyer beware! No one forces you to buy what they are selling.

Well.... if you are computer illiterate you might not know what is really going on in a computer and any service has a standard charge. I really can't fault that.
But if hte case was opened and that was all that was wrong with it... how the hell could you say to someone "that will be $275."
That said I have had my laptop service a few times @ Best Buy and never really had any trouble like that , granted I was under their warranty plan I bought.

It's no different than taking your car in for repairs. Most people don't have a clue what the technician is talking about and will just buy whatever he's selling. I had a car that I was told by Firestone, needed a new transmission. I took it to a REAL, trusted mechanic. He found out that I had a bad shift sensor. Estimated cost of replacing transmission: $500+, actual cost of replacing shift sensor and one other electronic piece of equipment: $100.
