Quote:It was a solemn pledge, repeated by Democratic leaders and candidates over and over: If elected to the majority in Congress, Democrats would implement all of the recommendations of the bipartisan commission that examined the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

But with control of Congress now secured, Democratic leaders have decided for now against implementing the one measure that would affect them most directly: a wholesale reorganization of Congress to improve oversight and funding of the nation's intelligence agencies. Instead, Democratic leaders may create a panel to look at the issue and produce recommendations, according to congressional aides and lawmakers.
Big Man Moore is not going to be happy about this. He has already written the Dem leadership a nasty letter.
Idiots.

Why can't anybody just be upfront about what they are going to do?

Because, if you solve the problem, then you don't have a promise to make during the next election cycle.
I'm aghast. Are you trying to tell me politicians say some things to get elected and then don't deliver on some of their arguments. I might turn Republican after this OUTRAGE.

You can turn Republican, but they will trash you just as bad as the Democrats and the Muslim extremists.

So you knew they were lying? Did you lie along with them?

Clearly, lying, falsehoods and corruption don't bother you unless it is Republicans doing it. What's the word for that?

Does hypocrisy abash any Democrat?
I'm pretty sure Machiavelli was being sarcastic.

I'm not surprised, I remember in the debates Bush actually gave some interesting ideas for social security reform while Kerry tripped over himself about it. I can't remember Bush doing anything about it since the election.

Were you not paying attention the first 4 or 5 months of his second term.

Feb - Bush calls on congress to fix SS

March - Bush Goes on Trail to sell social security plan

April - Senate finance commt. to hold hearings on SS reform while Bush continues to make push

May - Bush acknowledges split in GOP over SS reform

July - Social Security Reform Stalled

He was fought tooth and nail by democrats and some in his own party, so the push died.

He may not have accomplished it, but at least he tried. That's clearly more than the dems are willing to do with their 9/11 campaign promise.
that's good, that's why i voted for him 04-high5

He's not the brightest bulb, but he is stubborn and sticks to what he says, pretty well...
The biggest disappointment I have is that nothing got done on social security. I think had the Iraq war not been going on he could have made it happen. Privatizing part of it is the best way to go, but like someone else said, if you fix the problem, you can't campaign on it later.
