looks like Nancy is going with Hastings for Intelligence Commt. chair.

Article

For a lady who claimed whe was going to end the "culture of corruption" she's not off to a very good start. While I love the political stupidity of the move I'm very frightend at the prospect of this guy having access to sensitive intelligence.
How do people like that even get elected?

I mean even in cases where someone may be cleared, isn't it easier to side with caution and elect someone without a suspicious background?

It's called Party Line Voting. The people that have fallen for the "The Republicans are going to take away your medicine" or "The Democrats just want to may gay marriage legal" cause these sorts of things to happen.

These are the people that can't think for themselves and really should not be voting (IMO).
True that, GB.

But I would think that the parties would run out people without such blemished pasts. In my opinion, most of the run of the mill politicians are a dime a dozen.

See, BR, I have a different view on things....I think that if the American public started pushing purity for it's candidates you would see a slow shift in that direction. Granted, I give what people did in college a huge pass. Basically, if you didn't do anything wrong during your college years, you probably don't have the personality to run the country anyway.

That's my question BR. But then again Vermont just elected an admitted socialist to the US Senate.
Quote:The U.S. House Of Representatives Voted 413-3 On A Resolution To Impeach Then-Judge Hastings . (H. Res. 499, CQ Vote #254: Adopted 413-3: R 171-0; D 242-3, 8/3/88 , Pelosi Voted Yea)
She's an idiot, I don't see here lasting very long in that post.

Does it have to be something "wrong" or just noteworthy?

Basically, the stuff that was used during the Clinton elections (pot) and the Bush elections (drinking/drugs) are the stuff that I don't give a crap about.

Now, saying you didn't inhale is just stupid.
Nancy goes John Kerry on Hastings

Good move by her politically, though it will hurt her with the CBC.
