Out of the leading candidates? McCain.
I still don't trust him on all issues, but his military experience should prove useful (something we really haven't had w/ the last 2 presidents).
He earned my respect by calling out the last adminstrations blunders on N Korea.
He wields influence.

I am a big picture kind of guy. The last time a Clinton was in the White House it gave the Republicans control of the HOR for the first time in 40yrs and also led to majorities in the Senate, Governerships and State Legislatures.
Let Hillary loose for four years with Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid to do her bidding and you could get Republican majorities for years to come.
Sometimes you have to take a step back to take a step forward.

I'm already on record that it will be Gore/Clinton.
That should polarize the two bases plenty, and make it a big deal for the swing vote.
I just hope Edwards and Kerry get on board.

Turns out Jesus will be on the ticket in 2008...
STATUS: ANNOUNCED CANDIDATE. This gadfly candidate -- who also uses the name "Saint Michael Jesus the Archangel" (and was formerly named Philip Jesse Silva until he legally adopted the Archangel moniker in 1996) -- appears rather delusional. "From the time I was a little boy I knew I was God and Michael the Archangel, but I didn't dare tell anyone, not even anyone in my family because I knew that the devil, Satan, was going to try to murder Me, and indeed he did try, four separate times," he explains. He also writes a lot about "My Big Brother, Jesus Christ, Whose parents, My spouse the Blessed Virgin Mary Michelle and her guardian spouse, Saint Joseph." Archangel Michael wrote he was a Vietnam War veteran who attempted suicide when, he explains, he suffered from depression and paranoia; and later became a "a volunteer Secret Agent for the Central Intelligence Agency without pay." A former janitor, he is a self-employed "writer" these days. As for politics, he describes himself as a "Reagan Republican" -- but adds he has also briefly drifted in and out of the Libertarian Party twice over the years. Michael the Archangel says he is a "radical conservative Republican" who recognizes "the fact that America is an official Theocracy." I'll just let him explain it in his own words: "The cultural/educational struggle going on between liberals and conservatives ... will decide whether the liberals are allowed to take this nation further and further down the road to socialist destruction or whether the conservatives will take our country back for God and the people. As a 2008 election Republican Presidential candidate, I hope all you Libertarians become Christians. Your support for the pro-choice position vis-a-vis abortion is just as destructive as the Communazis' position on that subject. The Democrats are complete Socialists, that is, Communazis." He also wants tougher enforcement of narcotics laws, a total ban on tobacco sales, opposes any gay rights laws, supports a total ban on abortion, etc. In a major setback for his campaign, Archangel was arrested on attempted murder and other felony charges in March 2006. "As a matter of fact, he is crazy. Anyone in their right mind can see that," said the Sheriff who arrested Archangel. You can find lots and lots of very long pages of writing like this -- all of which proclaim this candidate to be God -- on his official website: ArchangelMichael.info (you've got to scroll down very far on the homepage to find the link to his Presidential campaign and his autobiography).

Do you know what a neo-con is? Not what you've been "told". Research what it means to be a neo-con and you will see that McCain and Guiliani fit into that mold more than most conservatives.

I think Pat is more in-tuned to the problems that we - and much of the Western world - will be encountering in the very near future more than any other viable candidate. Unfortunately the media has lambasted the man for as long as I can remember so in essense he is unelectable.

No, I'm just going to laugh at the people that put left-wingers up. You will never, not once, see me saying I think Pat Robertson should run. I don't understand Democrats. Bush gave'em everything they wanted and they still bitched. NIU, I don't claim a party but I will say I am fiscally-conservative and fairly socially-liberal. I would support the LP, but they have completely gone off the deep end...that and I DO support the war on Islamic Fundamentalists away from our shores. That is a problem that isn't going away, and regardless of what liberals say, Bush did NOT make it worse. It was already full-scale when he was elected.

Yeah, by the definition the leftists have created. Do your research. A Neo-Con is one that came from the liberal ranks.

I find it absolutely unfathomable that people want the country to do badly just so their faction can gain power. That's putting the cart in front of the horse.
I consider McCain the early favorite, and I'm all for him. I don't agree with him on all the issues, but from what I've seen he'd be an excellent leader. He has a rare combination of experience and independence.

Um, the media really loved Kerry. The media really loved Gore. But the MEDIA isn't the electorate, now are they? He has NO experience at leading anything. He would NOT get elected.

And Gore and Kerry nearly won, even while being absolute toolboxes. The guy has charisma, and people actually listen. He's like Clinton, except he actually is black, and sounds more intelligent. The local news is nearly ready to crown him the first black president, and he's already said he won't be running anytime soon. He is a state senator, with a foot into a federal goverment in which his party controls both houses. He'll get his "experience" soon enough.

My guess is most Americans are so fed up with the lack of talent that they have been getting from both party's that they might be willing to open up the process some and consider other type candidates.
