That is one unhappy looking family......

All I see is a little girl whose heart is broken. It doesn't make me smile,or feel good, or laugh. I feel sorry for her. But what would I know? I am a conservative, and everyone knows we have no compassion and only think of ourselves.

I just don't see the humor in watching other people's pain, especially children.

To be completely open, I think compassion is an individual thing that relates to a person's politics very little, contrary to the stereotypes thrown about. yes there are compassionate conservatives, just as there are uncompassionate liberals. But to clasify one group as compassionate and the other as not is, I think, a very grievous mistake.

I'm surprised by you in this, Mach. I expected more compassion. I guess I overestimated you yet again.

BTW, I don't know if the family depicted is Rep. or Dem., liberal or conservative. I just see a little girl crying.

its called dark humor (except this isnt even really dark). the picture is priceless. the girl in the back pouting, the kid who looks like a deer in headlights on right, the fact that the little girl has a doll with the exact same clothes as her, the wife who just looks pissed off and is wondering why she married this loser, the fact the candidate is grinning all the while...it almost looks life theyre posing for an "american gothic" retake.

i guarantee you that girl will laugh hysterically about this picture in 10 years.
Picking on children. Are you guys f'n insane? 04-chairshot

Of course, what can I expect. The liberals in this thread defended the fools that did this to this little girl.

You talking about the photograher or the father whos stupid enough to carry his daughter all over the campaign trail so everyone thinks hes a "family man"?

yeah hes not with it.
It also amazes me about some of the things people here get "campassionate" about, and the things they dont. I mean, a little girls crying about her dad losing an election, stop the presses. im a bad guy. but hey, who cares about all those arab kids over in iraq who have been getting their limbs blown off for the past 3 years. as long as we get our oil...

I agree she will laugh at the picture in 10 years. Time heals all wounds, plus it is very different for a 10-year-old and a twenty-year-old. But so what? You're laughing NOW, and she is crying (not pouting) NOW. In ten years if she wants to laugh i will laugh with her, but I won't laugh AT her now.

Dark humor, gallows humor, dry humor, whatever you want to call it. I see what you are laughing at, i just don't see any reason for me to laugh at it. If a circus clown falls off his bike, laugh, but if a little girl falls off hers?

If you were standing in front of them, would you be pointing and laughing at her?

Oddly enough, I got the American Gothic impression too. But it didn't make me feel like laughing at the little girl.

Funny. I get accused, as a conservative, of being heartles, self-absorbed, and lacking in compassion. Then, when i say I see nothing funny about a little girl's grief, I am told to lighten up. Strange, isn't it?

Well, I could use a pick-me-up, so I'm off to the Wal-mart to watch kids cry.

When you catch me laughing about that, I guess you will have a point. Until then, you don't.

I guess we will just have to agree that we have different ideas about what constitutes humor.

As for the part about dragging the kids into it, doesn't every candidate of every party do that? I remember seeing Edwards' kids in 2004...but I wouldn't have laughed at them if they cried during his concession speech.

i wasnt talking about laughing at kids in war zones. but i was saying this relatively benign picture i showed seems to have gotten everyones panties in a wad, when theres obviously much bigger issues out there that tend to be forgotten or looked over. if only the people here did get this outraged over children stuck in those situations, often at our own country's hands.

i can completely understand if you dont think it was funny, im not holding it against anyone. it wasnt even necessarily the girl i was laughing at, just the entire picture and situation as a whole. theres a million stories all going on there at once, and they're written on each persons face. every single facial expression is larger than life. thats what i found funny.

as far as kids on campaign trails, yes its common. however, if i was in that position, you can be sure as hell i wouldnt be putting my kids out in front of the camera.

and for whoevers trying to make this into some rediculous liberal/ conservative argument, i dont even know who the guy is or what party he belongs to. i was just forwarded the shot.

Well, Huskie, over time I have learned that although we may not agree, ususally you are well worth listening to. I'm not seriously upset and nothing is in a wad. I can, intellectually, see what you are pointing out. Emotionally though,, I focused on the unhappiness of the little girl, so my reaction was empathy, not laughter.

Yes, it does bother me that kids in Iraq and other places are in danger now. It bothered me ten years ago when the endangered kids were in Bosnia and Ruanda. It concerns me that kids in Thailand are enslaved in the sex trade. it bothers me that the entire country of N Korea is enslaved. It bothers me that some people fly planes into buildings or blow up those kids in Iraq. Compared to all those things one childs momentary grief is indeed a small thing, but it is very real to that child at that time.

So let's let it go. We will differ on something of more import sometime in the future. If we are to be able to talk reasonably on the big things, maybe we should just let the small things slide.

Sounds like good advice for Bush and Pelosi as well.

Now we all just need to work on the defintion of what things are "big". ;-)
I saw this speech on TV (but not this particular shot). All of the kids just looked really uncomfortable and unhappy, and I remember wishing they hadn't been up there.

BTW, I disagree with his politics, but Santorum gave a very nice, conciliatory concession speech.
It's kinda f'd up that we've come to a point in time that it's not safe for children to be around political rallies. This IS something that is reserved for moonbat liberals. If the little girl sitting on her father's shoulder would have been a Democrat, and a Republican would have done that when most were Republicans around her, that one Republican would have had his ass handed to him by the OTHER Republicans.

Mark my f'n word. I'm not a Republican, but I do know conservatives. The way some of you damn liberals are acting reminds me of a f'n dictatorship. The operation of this government should be something that kids get involved with. You idiots have made it to where we should be ashamed to even expose our kids to it. Look at the pic closely. One dumb*** Marshall fan, no doubt a liberal union member, is laughing, and the little moonbat in training on the right hand side has his hands balled up like he wants to hit her. Look at the people in the background. They aren't looking at the guy. They are looking at this little girl.

Conservatives angry and not compassionate? My f'n ass. What the **** have you far-left liberals done to the morals of this country? Ruined them. The Democratic Party of JFK is dead.
The doll that little girl has is freaky.
The dumb*** brought a three year old girl to a Kerry/Edwards rally into the middle of union workers. My grandpa was pretty big in the Local 51 builder's union. With the stories he used to tell, the idiot would of got a serious beat down in the 60's. What kind of moron goes to a Kerry/Edwards union rally with a Bush/Cheney sign. I gaurantee you the punk ass brought his kid for protection.

Now b4 you get your panties in a bunch. Imagine me going to an NRA meeting with my kids with a Pelosi for Speaker Poster. I have more fckin common sense than this idiot. And before you go all Democrat's ruined the political process. If it was in the 30's the guy may have been killed. Gramps told me about a time a scab was on a job site. He accidently slipped off some scaffolding and was paralyzed or died don't remember which, but the point got across.

This does not seem particularly compliementatry of unions. Are you saying they are thugs who would take the law into their own hands? That they would resort to physical violence.? are you proud of that behavior?

Surely not.

I am not an NRA member, but i think you and your kid would be safe from physical violence, although maybe you might get called a couple of names.
Anyone with half brain.... no wait a quarter of a brain sure in the hell wouldn't take their three year old to disrupt a rally. I know you grew up in the south but you had to hear a little something about unions growing up. My Dad use to take me to the UAW bowling league on Fri. night. The UAW guys were girl scouts compared to Granpa's guys. It boggles the mind to think this guy would do something as idiotic as that. I tell you the unions have gone soft, that guy only left there with his daughters feelings hurt. In gramps day it would of been much much worse. It's as plain as day to me.
I came from a union household. From Grandpa Ginny on down to Dad. You never voted for a damn dirty Republican and you respected the unions. What this guy did....... he disrespected the union. He should of went out of there with a couple of knocks on the coconut. I don't think you kill the guy, but..................

I'm not saying paralyze the guy, but............... you don't do what he did. I wasn't even allowed to talk when I went into the Local 51 Hall in Toledo. It was a pipe fitters and welding union. Those guys...........I remember one guy they called Sharkey......... Oh forget it!!!! I don't think you'd understand.

Your messing with their lives. Their livelihood. Back in those days they protected the "way of life".
Quote:Are you saying they are thugs

lmfao lmfao lmfao lmfao lmfao lmfao lmfao lmfao lmfao

are you proud of that behavior?

It is what it is. Do you blame the tiger for killing the gazelle? These guys have families.

I am not an NRA member, but think you and your kid would be safe from physical violence

I wouldn't be that freakin stupid. The guy is a retard. He put his daughter in a very perilous situation. I don't let my daughter or son play on St. Rte. 75 either. That's equavilent to what this idiot did.[/quote]
Machiavelli Wrote:It is what it is. Do you blame the tiger for killing the gazelle? These guys have families.

So you are saying they can't help themselveves, it is their nature to beat up people they don't like, and this makes you proud of them.

The people you want to kill have families too. So murder is OK if you are in a union?

You are seriously bent.

Unions and management have changed over the years. Maybe you should catch up. My ancestors did some things that I would not do today - for example, making a guy drink poison to avoid getting shot.
I said don't kill the guy or break his spine! Don't kill him but he was in serious need of a beat down. A gigantic display of disrespect.

Hypothetically...

If I was on the scene of this crime. The crime being showing up to a union meeting protesting with your 3 yr. old daughter.

I would of made sure his daughter was safe, but I can't fathom doing what he did. I'm not an advocate of violence, but I was brought up to respect certain institutions. The union being right under the church. It was God, family, and the union. Even saying Local 51 had a reverent tone around our neighborhood.

You have your traditions, we westerners have ours.

It's very important to always act as our grandparents did, and also to vote the way they did.

;-)

It was on a Tarmac. Not in a building rented by the damn Mafi.....Union. He was there exercising his rights as an American. Leave it to you Libs to try and defend the actions of that punk.

However, Libs are ALWAYS crashing Republican events, ones that ARE rented by the RNC. You would probably defend them as well for exercising their rights.
Quote:However, Libs are ALWAYS crashing Republican events, ones that ARE rented by the RNC. You would probably defend them as well for exercising their rights.

My mom wouldn't of crossed the street to see Reagan. He came to my hometown on a train, no kidding and she wouldn't let me go either. You wouldn't have to worry about me going to see an NRA I mean RNC lovefest.

You wouldn't see me complaining if you conservatives lynched Tom Noe. Stole alot of horses, pilfered 2 million dollars from injured workers. He happened to be able to do such thievery because convicts in Republican clothing gave him the sweetheart deal.

Oh and Reb, liberals can't disrupt W's campaigns because he screens every rally. If he ever had to speak to the public he would be drowned in a chorus of boos. The guy's approval rating are in the 30's for criss sakes.

and this last little bit I was thinking about last night. When a kid teases a dog with a stick because he knows how far the chain goes. Do you feel sad when the dog breaks the chain and takes a nip out of the kids butt? Do you ever feel sorry for the snake charmer when he is bit by the snake? Myself.....NO, because he was doing something most people in their right minds would never do. That picture was a clasic example of a Rorschach ink blot. People see the same picture totally differently. I see an idiot who put his child's life in a precarius situation. If things got heated she easily could of been trampled to death. Politics bring out the worst in people sometimes.

I did, however, get carried away up top. At first I was trying to be funny then it went to a deeper darker place. There is a big part of me that believes in unions (it was a large part of my childhood) and as I do some self reflection this is probably THE reason I vote blue. I hold many conservative values close to my heart as well. I do apologize for advocating violence. I probably could of resembled that moonbat in training with the clenched fists up top as a young kid.

Today, however, my crew isn't as tough. I don't think I can depend on the home-ec teacher and libarian to cover my back. ;-)

I was trying to interject a little humor into your rant. Some people are overly controlled by their past or their ancestors. I don't care how my grandfather voted - that was then and this is now. It doesn't matter if my ancestors were land barons or sharecroppers - their lives are not mine. And I don't care who turns over in their grave or who wouldn't cross what street to see what person. They are not me. I think for myself.

It's quite clear that you know all you need to know about anybody when you learn how they voted. Republicans bad, democrats good, same in 2035 as in 1935. Kind of like the Eloi and the Morlocks. Saves a large percentage of your mind from overuse.

Got a question for you - if you were to have a house custom built for you, would you insist on using only union labor?

If you'd do your f'n(get over it BR) research, you would find out how ignorant your little "insult" really is. Your post epitomizes what it is to be a New England, elitist liberal.

As for my banning, yeah, go ahead and start a movement and see how far you get.
I've figured it out now!!! RobertN is really Charlie Rangel!!!! lmfao

Actually, I was born and grew up in the Chicago area and moved to NE for a job. Elitist? Hardly. I know you will never get banned by your fellow Neo-Cons. As far as I remember only librerals have been banned from this board. 05-stirthepot
