I must of missed that. Saddam attacked us huh? The terrorists are attacking us now in Iraq. It's not a secretarian civil war and were playing referee. I thought the Republican led Senate Committee on pre war intelligence showed no link of Saddam and 9-11. Missed that one.

Damn, you have a problem connecting the dots, don't you? How much MORE information do you f'n need to see that Saddam had many, many ties with terrorists, who DID attack us?

No he didn't. Many CIA estimates say the radicalized Islamic movement was a direct threat to Saddam. Hopefully with Democrats in control will get to the bottom of alot of this. Unfortunately their are too many people like yourself who believe Saddam had all these ties where the Terrorism when it was just simply not the case.

Saddam was on the state sponsor of terrorism list for decades.
Saddam granted a diplomatic passport to Abu Abbas, the man who masterminded the attack on the Achille Lauro. It was this passport that allowed Abbas to not be arrested when his escape plane was forced to land. He ended up in Iraq as a guest of Saddam. We caught him in Iraq in 2003, he died in prison.
Abu Nidal lived in Iraq. He was a terrorist and a murderer of at least 17 Americans in his attacks.
Abdul Rahman Yasin was the terrorist that built the bomb that exploded in the WTC in 1993. He was indicted by the Clinton administration for the attack. He fled to Iraq where he lived and was given a monthly government salary.
Did Saddam have links to Al Queda? Maybe, maybe not. Recently translated Iraqi intelligence documents state he sought an alliance with the Taliban. The fact is Saddam had numerous ties to terrorism.

There is nothing in your list that I would refute other than the Taliban alliance. Sometimes govt.'s have strange bedfellows. Much like Reagan's administration with Saddam.
Last night while as I was driving home I thinking about Saddam and Iran. I thought I read somewhere where Saddam's interest in nukes had more to do with Iranian one up manship than threatening the west. (The sanctions were boxing him in so he couldn't develop WMD's) One of Clancy's books talked about a giant Crescent Shia movement throughout Persia as a result of the mustache's assasination. Funny how we did Iran's work for them.
Iran's a HUGE problem right now and can you honestly say W's policies haven't helped Iran.

Saddam's bedfellow in this case were terrorists. And Iran was a much bigger threat than Iraq was in the 80's. 9 times out of 10 foreign policy is conducted with the lesser of two evils. Just the nature of the beast.
Quote:Iran's a HUGE problem right now and can you honestly say W's policies haven't helped Iran.
Yeah. How has it helped them? I would argue that the policy showed them we weren't scared to take them out if they continued to pursue nukes. However the opposition parties refusal to support the war effort has shown them that we as a nation lack the political will see anything through. Now they believe they can just wait us out.
But Iran won't get the bomb. Israel won't let it happen.

How many years do you think they are away? Didn't they just admit to starting another cascade of centrifuges? I know before that the best estimates were that they were ten years away. If they admit to this what's next? What's carzy about this and this is what I brought up to O'Reilly, Why did we come down so hard on Iraq?, but leave N. Korea and Iran alone????? If you look back on my posts for the last three years I couldn't understand it. Gb's argument about the oil bourse is the only thing I could see that held any merit. His answer to me btw was "He thinks China can keep N.Korea in check", but he's worried about Iran. He doesn't like any of the endgames in all of the Iran scenarios.

Karl Rove has already drawn up the plans on Iran. The Death Star is being built as we speak, equipped with fountains, 200" Plasmas, indoor ice-skating rink, ......oh, and an Iranian Extinction Weapon made out of Titanium.

and another thing. Isn't the lesson of the Iraq War, "Don't go to war with America unless you have Nukes". America won't attck you if you have nukes. Which leads to even greater nuclear proliferation. and that's our enemies. Now our allies will see that Iran has nukes and they need to go nuclear so they don't get crushed by the Shia wave..............

I'm in now way qualified to make an estimation of how far they are. But if they admit they have one then Russia will be forced to get off it's ass an do something, as will China. An iranian nuke is far more of a threat to them than it is to us. You would also see Israel launch there own pretty quick I would imagine.

We went to war with the USSR several times. As for Iran, well, there's a simple solution, take out the reactors before they're online. Tell us, are you one of those liberals opposed to Missile Defense?

I don't think so. No one has ever tried to go to war with us while having Nukes. And no nation on earth, save Russia and maybe China, could even run neck and neck in the nuke department.
It's important to put this in perspectve. Getting a nuke, and being able to put it on a missile for delivery are very different things. It's far more complicated to put a nuke on a warhead than it is to create it. So getting it and being able to deliver it are seperate items all together.
Iran may be able to get one, but they're years from being able to deliver it as a conventional weapon. The danger is they drive it into down town tel aviv

Machiavelli Wrote:Didn't Russia and China come out today and say they won't back any Iranian sanctions?
At this point. Russia and China have a lot of money tied up in Iran. That's why multi-lateral talks that include both are so important. They have the ability to influence Iran far better than we do. We can threaten them and put sanctions on them, but Russia and China can pull investment out of Iran, and that would really hurt them.

I know it is petty. It is petty theft and petty hypocrisy. But next time you hire someone and pay them for eight hours of work, and they use three of them to "solve the world's problems", see if you have a problem with it.
Of course, if "solving the world's problems" is part of your job description, then no problem. Call your boss and ask him. Better yet, ask his bosses - the taxpayers who support your school system.
Using company equipment and company time for personal endeavors is a misuse of those assets. Most employers will let you get away with it to some extent, some more than others. A call from the wife about picking up Junior at scouts? No problem. Spending half the day posting messages on a message board and responding to them? A horse of a different color. People have lost their jobs for less. If you are so proud of it, tell us the name and address of your boss. We will email these threads to him and he can give you a medal.
Simple question: when your son gets his first job, will you tell him it OK to spend his boss's time on personal things? Is that the type of child you will raise?
I find it ironic that you are there, cheating the taxpayers, while you are supposed to be there keeping kids from cheating. OK for you, but not for them?
BTW, would it still be "saving the world" if you were posting right-wing sentiments? Would it still be OK?

Do you have the same problem with a policeman when he goes in for a cup of coffee? What if I was in the private sector and I had to sit and listen to a machine just to make it sure it was running? See the kids were taking a test and they sat 3 feet away from each other and had different versions of a test. I was doing my job. A. Policeman is always on duty. I sure would not like it if he decided to spend his time on stakeout posting political messages. OK with you?
B. This is more akin to to employees watching sports on TV while at work.
C. It doesn't matter if you can walk and chew gum at the same time. You are not employed for chewing, just walking. It's not about your ability to juggle, it is about doing your job to the best of your ability. You could probably play internet poker and proctor the test at the same time. I see no difference in that and what you are doing.
D. You have young kids. What are you going to teach them about giving an honest day's work for an honest day's labor?
I gave a lot of leeway to my employees - lots of personal paid time off, use of company assets, etc., but that was with MY money, MY choice. I think the spenders and recipients of tax money are held to a tougher standard.
So I'm a wacko without a life and you're a thief(petty). I guess we can leave it there. It's been interesting.
